Razer is making a 27" 1440p... and it's GLOSSY!!!

27" 1440p, yawn.

Though its nice to see more manufactures using the new VESA HDR classifications. No more guesswork. For those interested, HDR400 is the lowest possible tier.
I personally think it's inappropriate to call full frame dimming HDR. 10-bit color isn't even a requirement. But I guess VESA had to throw a bone to manufacturers for more marketing reference to sell displays.

Also, they decided to stick their stupid chroma lighting under the footstand. Displays are the one peripheral where RGB-lighting could actually serve a useful purpose as a functional bias light :ROFLMAO:

1440p Freesync 144hz IPS with no meaningful HDR support, yawn. The only thing innovative about this is the fact that it actually looks nice and isn't covered with awful gamer branding. I bet it doesn't have VESA mounting though, so you're stuck with that ridiculously wide base..

Lenovo just announced a 1440p 240 Hz G-Sync HDR monitor.
 
Wouldn't this be the only glossy 1440p? Shame we don't have 1080/1440/2160p glossy monitors. I would take full glossy, mirror finish even at 1080p 60.
For all we know, razer might be just gluing glossy coating on matte one like Dell does...

-240hz at 1440p? seriously? be real.... and that lenovo 240hz is a TN panel. nope.
-Any HDR I've tried without local dimming just don't work and looks terrible. Scenes are either crushed or too bright and not resolving detail. it's totally pointless
 
That's one ugly stand, for my tastes the width of it makes it the ugliest one I know of, I might even possibly pick the older Acer orange feet over this, possibly.....

Say what you want, this has 450nits so this will have a lot better HDR than most monitors out there. Most have 250nits.

Seems like this monitor is geared more towards the workstation than gaming for the fact that it focus on color rather than fast response times.

When a QLED 144hz 1440p FLAT screen comes out, I will replace my gaming monitor. The only option now is a curved display.

Edit: I watched the video above. Claims 1ms response (but I am skeptical). If so, it could very well be my next gaming monitor. All you guys who say this is nothing new are wrong as far as I have seen available.

Depends on what type of "glossy" it is it might be great or terrible
There is thin line between making it ennough glossy to have illusion of better contrast and making it terrible and reflect everything...

But I personally like matte and see no reason to even want anything even remotely glossy and frankly do not understand obsession some people have.... though some scientist claim that people tend to like reflective surfaces more when they are thirsty because it looks like water surface... and I always have beer with me so I am not thirsty :cool:

It is 420(lul) nits and there's tons of other DisplayHDR 400 monitors. 400 nit HDR is not even worth turning the feature on and bothering with the dumpster fire that is HDR support on PC. It's not special nor is it even good.

As far as 1ms response time, when was the last time manufacturer response times were real? Even TN panels average 2.5-3ms response times at best. 1ms was never true. They just cherry pick the shortest, fastest transitions and call that the response time of the panel.
