NVIDIA CES 2019 Press Event: Watch the Livestream Tonight at 8 PM Pacific

Holy shit, they finally did it. Not a ton of monitors that support it, but I'll take it. This is going to make buying a new monitor so much easier.

It sounds like they are fully supporting freesync but will only turn it on by default for select monitors.

I am happy about this, as well. NVIDIA were smart by marketing G-Sync as the premium experience along side it with the "G-Sync Ultimate" malarkey. But the easier it is for people to experience VRR the better. It makes the gaming experience so much better.

Yeah. I'm going to assuming the "non-passed" monitors will have a non-optimal experiences but we'll see. I'm really excited to see the tech press and gamers to take this option for a spin to see how it works on both certified and non-certified monitors.

Pretty sure non certified monitors will be driver locked out from using VRR.

Where is that list of supported monitors for adaptive sync on nvidia?

GTX 2060 announced on nvidia's facebook account...
Says RTX for me.

like this
and NOTHING happening on screen

try that in a full 64 player multiplayer game = no way

6GB on that card is going to be extremely limiting for DXR in BFV, fact
Pssh, it's just so powerful that most of the other gamers are killed before they make it on screen. :p

Armenius yeah, I misread. Didn't quite delete my post in time. lol

Even in single-player campaign mode I bet it won't work anywhere near that well, not even at 1080p.

No one has talked about this yet, but in an upcoming article I'm going to show how limiting even 8GB of VRAM is for DXR in BFV. 6GB is going to restrain 2060, a LOT.

I can't speak about other DXR games of course, but then again, there aren't any others right now are there :p

Max-Q stuff is neat, but too damn expensive in a lot of cases. I'll take a little extra bulk for several hundred dollars in savings.

My guess is the frame rate is max fps while staring at the ground and not an average.

I just want Jensen and pull a Linus and drop the thing. It would at least make this part of the presentation more exciting.

i love how he is saying this is x times faster than a ps4 pro. ok so it is but its a $300 console vs a $2000 laptop make the prices comparable then we are talking

Unless they pull 7nm GPU announcement out of their butt at the end here..... I dunno guys.... I don't have high grades for the announcements today, or the briefing in general.

Nv is doing what they do desktop 1st then do the mobile variants on the same node middle year refresh on same node... nothing new till 7nm its going to be a rough year for NV.

God their stock tomorrow is going to bleed

I'm really excited about them finally supporting traditional a-sync, even if it has caveats. Beyond that, eh. I've seen worse presentations from Nvidia, but this one is still pretty meh.

Also, we're how many months from the launch of the RTX cards and so far only a single game supports RT and two (unless BFV didn't add it yet) support DLSS. Outside of Anthem (and no guarantee that support would come at launch) Jensen couldn't even talk about when any of the other games announced to support either feature, not to mention talk about when they would actually be added.

It would have been nice to see new demos or info about Metro Exodus Ray Tracing, a big missed opportunity.

I don't know. I think the support for Adaptive-Sync is a pretty big deal. GPU accelerated support in Arnold and Maya on consumer RTX is also pretty big, in my opinion. I think he also mentioned 3dsMax.

9 patches in and still no hint of when RTX is coming to Shadow of the Tomb Raider while NVIDIA is still using it in their marketing materials. Metro Exodus is coming out next month. I was actually hoping for ray tracing in Anthem, so I was disappointed to hear it's only DLSS.

Yeah. With the game out next month and Nvidia not using this time to show it off, and showing off DLSS on a game releasing after it, I have serious doubts about Metro having ray tracing in the game at launch. I wonder if it will show up anywhere near launch even.
