Which 2080 Ti model should I buy:

I am building a 2700x build and am thinking of buying a RTX 2080 TI (I know it's pricey and pretty much no preformance boost over the 1080 ti but it's a new Gen card and I feel as though it won't become outdated as quick as the 1080ti). The only problem is that I have no idea what model I want. I was looking at the Gigabyte Gaming OC and the Windforce OC as they are a little less hurtful on pocket but after reading some reviews people have been saying that, like in the 1000 series cards, they are quite sh***y and may preform at higher Temps under load then that of an MSI or Asus card. I would like to know if I am wasting my time looking at Gigabyte 2080 Ti cards and if it would be more beneficial to just spend another $50-100 on another brands card. Any advice will be much appreciated!

My build :

CPU: Ryzen 7 2700x

GPU: RTX 2080 TI which model to buy;;

MOBO: Asus X470-F

RAM:Corsair Vengeance LPX (16Gb) (3200mhz)

PSU: Corsair CX850M (I know it's a lower quality but in South Africa it's the best I could get at my price range)

COOLER: Corsair H115i RGB Platinum (280mm)

STORAGE: - SDD - Samsung 860 EVO 500GB

- HDD - SEAGATE 2TB

CASE: NZXT s340 Elite (Matte Black)

I would at least wait another week. It's CES then and if Navi is as good as the rumors says, then it could very well affect the pricing on the RTX series and you maybe could buy an EVGA FTW3 or Asus Strix 2080 Ti.

Unless you absolutely MUST have ray tracing, buying a very nice 1080ti still represents a better path at this juncture, based solely on the failure rates. You can always wait and see what's coming down shortly - that's probably advisable, even.

That cooler is huge overkill for the 2700. Shoulda bought something more reasonable and spent some more on the PSU, it's much more important anyhow. Also where are you getting this information that the gigbyte windforce pascal cards were shitty? To my knowledge they were quite good.

As for the 2080 ti I agree with some of the other posters to wait and see what AMD brings out, chances are it doesn't change anything but there's always a chance.

Why wait on AMD? They aren't bringing anything out that's going to change pricing on the ultra high end.

You never know. If Navi is as good as some rumors say is could affect the whole stack ptice. It's only a week to wait.

if navi will not be not good then to buy EVGA FTW3 or Asus Strix 2080 Ti.;;

what choices i have :;;?

For the price differences to move up to the FTW3 and others compared to the price difference vs. performance of the reference it's hard to consider one more expensive.

I'm an EVGA fanboy but that's just me. I'd look at pricing / warranty and go from there - seeing you're in the UK / ordering from the UK website since YMMV compared to the USA.

My personal favorite brand is MSI, I think they are worth the extra couple bucks and I think Kyles given them the Goal standard several times on the RTX 2080(ti). If there were some world where having the RTX feature improved the cards versus making them perform drastically worse with it enabled thats what I'd be buying, but this is Directx12 all over again. Give it a year, buggy mess not worth the hassle right now. At least thats my impression. Even the enthusiast reviewers who's jobs are literally to "GET HYPE" are like "plz don" about RTX.

is is true that for FTW 2080 TI RTX has reported fan issues;

i have heard from alot of people that are saying that asus astrix is the best on the market

some another people say that FTW 2080 Ti Rtx is the best on the market now

Best rtx 2080 TI ? Aorus vs trio vs ftw3 vs strix?

Any of those would be fine. None of them use reference boards and all have stronger VRMs for overclocking and more stable voltages. I always try to buy cards like this myself.

I'm an ASUS fan so I'm biased. However, best warranty for GPUs is EVGA hands down.

Nvidia supporting FreeSync pretty much ended any shot at high end competition. If you're got the cash and want the fastest, it's a no brainer now.

I have the Strix 011G (air), and have been running stress tests, usually Time Spy Extreme 20 minutes, on it daily; no problems. I keep the memory clock at 15500 (7750), since I found that at 16000, the TSE stress test will often not finish. Be aware that if you have in mind flashing a higher-power BIOS, there is none suitable for the Asus, because it is a custom board with unique output ports. IIRC, the default is 250w, and OC 322w.

With 1750 clock boost (about 2070 peak) and 15500 memory boost, this board outdoes my 1080ti ftw3 on DirectX12 stuff by about 45%.

The problem is trying to find one; you would have to stick to Newegg like fleas on a dog.

I'm likely too late to this party but if you haven't decided yet, I would shy away from going with the cheaper binned $999 EVGA Black. Any of the other ones for another $100 actually get overclocking abilities that make a difference, mine does not do anymore more than stock for most games. The cooler is pretty loud as well especially to keep it around the 70c sweet spot under full load. I would love to put it under water but with a binned chip, I just don't think there would be any benefit. Wish I'd have spent the extra $200 and got something with a more efficient cooler and more overclocking capabilities. Note this is just my experience, others may have gotten luckier.

Can the 2700x handle a 2080 Ti tho? Doesn't he need Intel to get the most out that GPU?

I'm asking because I'm not sure.

A 2700x does fine. I didn’t see his monitor though.

I use mine for 60Hz (no difference) and Vive Pro. If he has a 144Hz monitor he could potentially lose a few fps. 2700x pushes fine to about 110-120fps. At around 110 fps it’s usually negligible or no difference at all vs Intel.

The plus is when AMD’s 7nm processors come out and *potentially* destroy Intel he could use his 2700x’s mobo.
