Tesla Reportedly Has Over 3,000 Unsold Model 3s

Maybe that's you.

My typical week? I could do on a single tesla charge. My round trip to work is ~13 miles. (Granted, that's 60-90 minutes of drive time.)

Sometimes I drive for work, up to 60 miles round trip, but that's relatively rare now.

Weekends, I'll do between 0 and 150 miles of driving.

So, on an average week if I drove, I'd probably put around 200-250 miles on a car.

Maybe? I just stated it was... I could go multiple weeks on a charge just driving to work and back but that is not where the issue lies. I would have to keep 2 cars as I routinely make long distance trips (800 miles each way)..

starting price for AWD is $54K, yeah, nope. AWD is a nice thing to have where I live and I can get a fully loaded Outback for far less and it is better built.

I do not have the ability to add a super charger where I live so long charge times for me...

Less than 300 mile range? Nope

Such a load of BS... are you aware that all Tesla’s patents are open source and free to use by the auto industry. They are being used by VW also...

Elon has even said that if another company makes a better product then Tesla deserves to fail. The whole point of Tesla is to spur on the next generation of electric cars which is already showing results with upcoming models from Audi etc.

You are the perfect example of a blatant hater with no real grounding, they charge high prices because you cant build a performance EV cheaply. That comes with time and experience, hence the model 3’s release at a more midrange price...

As for repairing your own car, Rich Rebuilds has already proven why you shouldnt be allowed to do it when the fkwit almost burnt his mates workshop to the ground blatantly bypassing all Tesla safety measures. His own repairs have managed to destroy various parts on his model S also proving he is an incompetent jackass but wants to start an EV “shop”.

No consumer should be allowed to play around with 400v DC drive systems and 95kWh battery packs, it is instant death if you do something wrong and there are too many idiots out there who think they know everything.

They will sell every model, hell we are still waiting for them in Australia and the wait list is nuts.
You're getting off topic, so I'll be brief:
The new Audi SUV coming out this year is already a better looking EV and is cheaper than the closest-spec Model X. As I said, Tesla builds over-priced cars and then hypes the ever-loving crap out of them (like apple, but without the design.)
Who said anything about repairing the car myself? Why can't I just take it to a shop that specializes in EVs? Also, does Toyota know that big battery packs are potentially lethal? How could they possibly sell spare parts for the Prius?!

And you're clearly confused on what "midrange" cars cost. The model 3 is firmly in the "luxury" car price bracket, even if it doesn't look like one. If you ignore the blatantly false advertising of "gas savings" that Tesla conveniently deducts from the displayed cost of the car even the low-end model 3 without autopilot costs more than the base Audi A4 Quattro, a BMW 330i x-drive, or a Mercedes C300.

800 miles each way? You're an outlier, then. Most people don't make 16 hour car trips (each way) regularly.

My longest semi-regular trip is... a little under 400 miles each way. So, I'll go half-2/3 of the way, rest-area, charge while eating.

Done and done.

Given your drive distance, you'd probably do the same, only twice. Maybe 3 times, tops.

In california, when gas gets as low as it does right now, you don't really save much money. Power is expensive out there.

I stop once for gas/eat and that takes about 25 minutes. That's it... and given the price they want for AWD, pass much much better cheaper options available

I would love one but for 65000 it's hard to swallow.

Drop it to 35 and you have a winner.

And apart from very few features (talking outside the basics of EV), it's like a Honda Civic (talking about the Model 3)... in fact, the Civic is probably better in many ways. The "cheapness" is one of the complaints of the Model 3.

Tesla wants to be S3XY, but the 3 has been somewhat of a let down. Still, I do wish them the best and maybe the future will be different.

I drive a Civic Hybrid today, 2006 Japan built. It's a nice car that always gets at least 40mpg. Yeah... it's not an EV, but for what I paid for it (and people thought it was a rip off), it's better than a Tesla today.... IMHO. Wouldn't mind having a Model S, just can't justify/afford it (and I do 50 miles everyday... very much ok for most EVs... just in case somebody wondered).

Most of the people I know with an 'S' have a gas guzzling mega-SUV-super-truck as their other car. Just something I've noticed. Maybe a Tesla is some sort of penance? Some people are probably putting one of Elon Musk's solar roofs on their cryptocurrency farm building. At the end of day they produce carbon like Al Gore, but they feel better about it, and it costs less than making a movie.

You call Tesla overpriced yet the Chevy Bolt costs about the same as the base Model 3 and destroys the bolt in every metric.

Prices drop with time, Tesla have already stated that battery prices are dropping now thanks for the demand so future models will continue to get cheaper regardless of brand.

The model 3 is not in the luxury car bracket at entry level... yes a fully specced one is but a fully specced model 3 has more acceleration than a C63 AMG and that is before you get to autopilot etc.

Audi wont be building their electric cars in Germany so thats a big reason why they are going to be cheaper. You will get your wish soon when Tesla build their overseas gigafactory and ship US jobs offshore...but hey you wanted cheaper prices.

Hybrids have relatively low voltage battery packs so your argument is just BS lol. Noone should be swapping out their own battery packs on a full EV or messing around with them. DC power systems at this voltage will not even give you a warning zap like AC will, you will just be dead. Not to mention the new generation can run up to 800V DC... that is an insane voltage hazard and there is no way in hell that anyone unqualified would be allowed to service any power system running those voltages. We arent even allowed to service 240V AC in Australia, it is flat out illegal.

You are delusional.
The cheapest model 3 (no options) is $44,000 - that's luxury car prices. Acceleration doesn't equal quality, there's a reason the person likely to buy a C63 AMG probably isn't likely to buy a riced out civic with NOS.
200vdc is more than enough to kill someone so your argument is BS lol.
Wake up.

The cheapst model 3 is $35,000 after rebate. In Australia the luxury car bracket is $100,000 and up or $75,000 USD.

Just because you don’t like Tesla, doesnt mean they are a rice box. As much as I love AMG, they are insanely expensive to maintain, love fuel and have no features such as autopilot, summon, cheap fueling etc. You can have all that performance in a specced model 3 with barely any maintenance cost. Yes the AMG has merits but some people just want the acceleration and dont care how you get it.

My friends AMG just came up for a brake refresh... $6,000 later for all rotors and pads.

Tesla are trying to keep people from killing themselves by saving a buck and I am sure there are plenty of dickhead Americans that will try suing them if a family member does die working on their own car.

You seem to have trouble grasping that there are industry regulations around unqualified people working on high voltage systems. Idiots like Rich have already proven that if you let people ghetto their own repairs they put themselves at risk, members of the public and even first responders if they are in an accident with disabled safety features just to get their cars back on the road.

Well, for starters, they market the price as being ~$35,000 but then when you actually spec out a car that number is for the stripped out base model and they attach things like "gas savings" to the price so the price is closer to $45,000 out of pocket. If you want a nice vehicle with AWD, you are paying $65,000+ and then it's just a smallish sedan with a big price tag.

Honestly, I'm surprised they don't have more of these sitting around waiting for people to buy them with such poor value.
In Canada here the cheapest you can build a basic model 3 is $60k before tax. a loaded AWD is over 100k

I follow several Tesla guys on YT and it seems like drive unit failures are pretty common....and those are going to be stupid expensive after warranty expires...

That is a lot of money. What does a similar equipped Taurus go for in Canda?
In the US a base Taurus is around $30-35K, and a maxed out SHO is around $45k, (though you can usually haggle it down $1-2k or even more), where a base Model 3 is $44k and a maxed out one is around $67k. A Toyota Avalon goes for a similar price as the Taurus, and a base Camry is around $24k with a maxed one being around $37k. The Camry is actually the closer competitor to the model 3 imo.
