Seasonic FOCUS SGX-450 450W SFX-L PSU Review

Seasonic is delving deeper into the small form factor end of the power supply pool with its new FOCUS SGX. The SGX-450 has a 125mm x 125mm footprint, is supplied with an ATX adapter bracket, is fully modular, carries Gold efficiency certification, and comes with Seasonic's rock solid 10 year warranty.

Great review, as always!

I particularly appreciate the details on the cable lengths; I was ready to pull the trigger on a similarly priced SilverStone 450w SFF PSU. The main complaint in user reviews is the excessively long cables for SFF builds. "Luckily" SilverStone graces us with the offering of a short cable set for the low, low price of $25.

I'm glad to have an alternative to consider.

Will the Seasonic SGX-650 be up for review next?

I sure hope so!

It's about damn time that Seasonic started making SFX sized powersupplies. Other companies have been cranking out even smaller SFX supplies for years now at higher wattages and efficiencies. I was just about to settle for one of them, too. As long as SFX-L isn't too big, maybe that won't be necessary anymore.

Not next but it has been tested and is in the writing queue.
An upcoming build could certainly manage with the SGX-450 wrt power requirements. I'm inclined to bump up to the SGX-650, however, for a bit more fanless operation (up to 195W, rather than up to 135W). Other than the slight increase in price, is there any downside to going with an 'over-specced' SGX-650?

No, not really.
