New build plans - 2600 Based

So I wanted to do Threadripper but current budget is more Ryzen 5 so here's my current plans.

Let me know if you've had any specific bad luck with the following items especially in combination with each other:

Items I already have:

Corsair LPX 16gb 2x8gb 3000mhz C15 kit

Corsair Spec-04 Case with all fans occupied with PWM fans (3x120 exhaust, 2x140 intake all PWM)

Corsair 650W PSU

2x 3tb WD Green

1x 2tb Spinpoint F2 (empty atm, may move steam library here and add to SenseMI group)

240gb Sandisk SSD Plus Sata-II (OS and AAA games)

1060 3gb (bought when these were fricking $350)





Items to be acquired:

Ryzen 5 2600 (x or not will depend on sales at the moment, both are fluctuating around $160)

Asus B450 TUF Gaming Mobo (matx or atx flavor, again depending on pricing both hover around $100)

Coolermaster V8 GTS HSF (mad deals on open box locally)

NVME 250gb drive for SensMI cache

Innovative Cooling Graphite Pad for CPU TIM (I'm getting old and lazy, and its literally a nickel more than usual IC Diamond for an infinitely reusable pad that's only 5w/MK less conductive)

I've also considered going up to an x470 from MSI since they seem to have super solid VRMs too, I like in N. TX and its hot and humid here.

I have not bought into Ryzen yet (moving and selling old home and getting a construction loan for new home are all detriments to buying and playing with new hardware) but I see nothing wrong with your parts list, bought or future. Just know that Ryzen, especially first gen (which you aren't getting), is ultra-sensitive to RAM speed. If you can hit your 3000 RAM rating I don't see any particular downside.

There is an announcement from AMD at CES 2019 about the new line of cpu (Ryzen 3000). It might be that the prices will drop after or something better will arrive in the same price bracket.

I bought a 2600x and the Gigabyte Ultimate Gaming x470 for my kiddoe, threw some old DDR4 3200 memory I had laying around, Corsair Vengeance I think.. The ones with the flat gray spreader on it. Anyway, the mobo noticed the XMS right away and went straight to 3200, left everything else alone and he gets 4250 on all cores and even out scored my 5820k at 4.4ghz in single and multithread..

Oh I know that's partially why there's choices on most parts, I'm also tempted by the 1700x sales, it really just depends on the day, though I think you'll see a bottom price of $150 for the 2600, and $180ish for the 1700 based on all the various sales in Nov/Dec.

I should be able to max out this motherboards settings with the kit I have, I bought it off a guy whose system I built, I've had these exact sticks to 4000 on intel.
