Netflix Supposedly Poaches Activision Blizzard's CFO

Activision-Blizzard's stock hasn't been performing particularly well, even when compared to the overall market slump late last year. Right now, it's sitting at about 43 dollars a share, compared to 83 in late September. So, one might think that the firing of Activision's CFO, Spencer Neumann, could be related to the company's poor performance, but a report by Reuters claims that Netflix actually poached the CFO from the publisher. If the rumor is true, Netflix should make an announcement soon, and Spencer should start his new job sometime in 2019.

Neumann has served in a variety of finance roles including at Walt Disney Co. He replaces David Wells, who in August said he planned to step down after 14 years at the streaming media giant. The source said Netflix, which is making more of its own films and series, would like its next CFO to be based in Los Angeles with a focus on production finance. Wells is based northern California. Activision in its regulatory filing said that it intended to terminate Neumann "for cause unrelated to the company’s financial reporting or disclosure controls and procedures." It said that Neumann had been placed on paid leave.

Yeah you can cut away a few minutes of an episode here and there and sell them with microtransactions. Or have optional dlc where there are different scenes instead, maybe the actors have different clothes.
 
You all might be onto something here. With the recent release of Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, maybe you'll be prompted to purchase alternate storylines with the next show they do like that.
 
He'll find a way of injecting ads into a platform that isn't supposed to have ads

You'll be watching a show and see a TV CGI'd into the background running a coke ad
 
Im not sure if 'poaching' applies. Jokes aside, its just financial stuff, no should be fine I guesz.

SJW here; can't wait for Punisher S2, too.

BTW, what does a chief *financial* officer have to do with political BS? Seems like a stretch, maybe, just a little bit. Nice job making this political, instead of seeing that no one on either side of the aisle really likes the financial decisions AAA studios/pubblishers are making. Way to bring us together! Make tech forums great again!

CFO has influence over everything. And SJW's de facto make everything political. That being said Netflix is more SJW than Blizzard so probably nothing lost.

Enjoy Netflix while you can.
 
Wasn't there a recent story out that it was the finance department making strategic decisions at Blizzard? I believe it was reported that this was the reason behind the questionable decisions Blizzard had been making of late.

Blizzard has it's own CFO. The guy that went to Netflix was Activision's.

That didn't answer the question. Why would the CFO make things politically correct or SJW the company, unless if was just what people wanted (and therefore based on purchasing power and financial trends, not political)? And how do SJWs "make everything political" when it's literally you who brought anything up? Man... I'll bet by "political" you mean "representative of the actual population for once" instead of "only showing white people" like TV did for decades, and that makes you cry. But maybe not, I'll let you answer the question.

that would happen on the 1960s tv show dark shadows. the beginning of episodes would be a recap from the previous episode, but since they didnt have the budget or tech the actors would re-enact the recap scenes. sometimes they had different clothes on, music or different people on the set lol

Knowing making this comment it’s gonna get mod’ed like every time this subject comes up.

Star Wars was literally ruined by SJWs. That’s just the tip of the iceberg. I can name more and how it set the series back if you’d like.

So by addressing SJWs and how they make things political he’s now at fault? What a nuanced argument.

As far as representative of the actual population that’s the decision of the casting personnel. I haven’t done any research into Hollywood hiring practices based on proportions of the population, and tbh I probably never will.
