Truck Owners Are Blocking Tesla Superchargers in "ICE-ing" Protests

next time i see a tesla charging station i will park my
Ticket and tow those dumb fuckers.

there.

Yeah this happend when automobiles first took off with horse carriage riders as well, the luddites felt threatened and started hassling drivers with their horses. Eventually it died off with the modernization, some backwards idiots of their time will not impeded the progress.

I would call on such vehicles as well, even if I wasn't parking there, just to help the town's progress - as well as income with some tickets and towing revenue.

Just wanna be machos trying to hide their low self esteem with such desperate antics, harassing others and messing with private property. Have them ticketed and arrested, crime doesn't pay.

The moral of the story is leave others alone unless they are directly invading your space. That goes for electric cars, how people choose to dress including trans people, etc. Live and let live. We have bigger issues to deal with. Look at the trend of harassing politicians on their time off. Too many people do not know how to be civil in public any longer.

Pickup truck drivers that don't have a company name on the door are pretty bad in terms of basic vehicular conduct.

You slap a luxury name-plate on there and you have way too much compensating to comprehend.

Elaborate?

I like the comment about a Dodge Ram, but picture shows a SD.

Probably a one time thing. I live in Central KY, lots of EV's here and LOTS of trucks. Have never witnessed this at all.

Some soyboy in his EV doesn't stand a chance against a hard working corn fed bubba. And even if he does, bubba is probably packing. So good luck soyboys.

I am sure there are a few douche bags doing this but it seems unlikely it's actually a large scale organized event. I hate most of the dickholes that drive large trucks myself but the idea that an organized movement is to blame is silly at best and harmful at worst. Treating a handful of assholes being assholes like they are an organized force only fuels acrimony and and feed in to a BS culture war where both sides should actually be working together.

Similar to seeing something like an Excursion parked in "Clean Air Vehicle" spots, or more common across the country "Compact" parking spot.

Personally I think some well place vandalism to those trucks will stop this behavior real quick. Or escalate it greatly... since I have neither a truck or a Tesla I look forward to this :)

Agree 100%

And really, it's fine to condemn these guys blocking the chargers and the ones who spew soot out of their exhaust but some of these insults being hurled at truck drivers as a whole...small penises, redneck backwoods hicks, etc. is rather uncalled for. I do not drive a truck but know several people who do, many of them drive them like any other vehicle and are quite successful. No clue about their penis sizes. :D

There's just no need for all this disdain and contempt towards others. Unless they are blocking your supercharger or blasting you with diesel exhaust, of course - then it's fair game!

Yeah this is totally bogus. All those supercharger stations are in nicer areas, and people who own large trucks that actually use them are usually very down to earth people.

The majority of tesla owners and drivers, at least to me, seem to be pampered and spoiled adult babies who feel entitled to everything.

The people who drive those "trucks" (you know the lift kits, chromed stacks etc...) especially in nicer neighborhoods, are typically spoiled pampered children fresh out of high school who feel entitled to everything, and mommy and daddy give it to them. They also get a total kick out of being outright douche bags to people. Eventually they grow up to become tesla owners themselves.

The reality is, its just two groups of douche bags, and one is spewing their toxic fumes all over the internet because the other spews toxic fumes into the environment. This is literally an "old rich vs young rich" argument...

Both sides can go kick rocks for all I care. It just sucks for the people that actually like teslas or trucks and use them for their practicality.

You know those Cadillac pickups with the 4.5' beds? Douchemobiles.

All leather crew cab that says Laramie on it, or Longhorn, or Eddie Bauer. That's just basically writing "I'm a cunt, I don't need a pickup and can't drive this one, but I'll be scraping up your vehicle when I park!"

I am not impressed with civilian trucks but then I have driven something that would chew through any of them ;) US Army 19D . . . . well, I do have a buddy who builds custom trucks that show at SEMA . . .his vehicles are amazing. They are more works of art

Now that is a really poor generalization. We have a Laramie Mega Cab, and we use it for towing boats at our lakehouse and buying supplies for our gas station. The bed of the truck is usually full when going to the lakehouse, and it's a 2 hour drive, so comfort is a huge plus. Sure, 75 percent of truck owners might be better off with an SUV like a Tahoe, but those SUVs have significantly worse depreciation, and you can't argue against the versatility of a truck bed.

Working at a dealership in the truck shop for nearly 10 years, I call BS. 95% of the King Ranch or Platinum trim trucks that came in for service were well used for work, mostly cattle and horse hauling. Literally shit everywhere, inside, outside, and underneath.

Maybe they're talking about just those truck drivers and not all truck drivers. ;)
I don't have a problem with trucks, I see them as a tool like motorcycles, or small cars.

Stages of the stupid man's reaction to new things:

  1. Indifference
  2. Annoyance
  3. Fear
  4. Hate
  5. Destruction of property
We seem to have reached stage 4.

Oh and I forgot stage 0: Ignorance which persists trough all other stages.

I drive a dodge 2500 diesel and LOVE MY TRUCK.

I am NOT getting rid of my truck but I am saving cash right now so I can buy a Model S in the next year.

I want a Tesla too. I cant stand single issue voters and dumb fuck single issue minded low IQ idiots that do shit like block super chargers. Electric cars are so Infant right now they pose zero threat to the petrol industry for many many many many more decades.

Vehicles are like penises . . .it is not the size of it - it is how you drive it. Granted the analogy would have me driving a Geo Metro. Nevermind.
Don't knock the Metro, surprising amount of storage space, small enough to fit anywhere, and 50+ mpg.

Sure they are. just like Prius drivers are arrogant, eco-terrorists sneering at the unwashed masses that drive obsolete Global warming abominations.

let's just throw a few more silly, obviously overblown stereotypes out there while we are at it.

I think you were, but go back and read some of the replies.

And agreed, totally! I like sport bikes and rode one for a few years but holy hell some of the idiots that ride them around like jackasses give that segment a bad rep. Loud Harleys that rev at stoplights are annoying but it's rare in my experience to see one riding like a tool.

I think some of the hate towards Tesla stems more from the many of the Tesla owners and their arrogance. You don't see people saying F Nissan to Leaf drivers.

We have affordable e-cars knocking at 400mi range. I'd say the problem is pretty close to solved for all but the longest driving distances.

Name one e-car with a 400 mile range that's affordable to the middle class. (less than $30,000).
Didn't think so.

Also, name one electric car that can tow a decent sized trailer and also has space for a spare tire.
How about any electric car with space for a spare tire?

Yes, I know many ICE cars no longer come with spare tires.
However, many that don't include a spare, still have it available as an option, unlike electric cars.

I'll never buy a car that doesn't have at least room for a compact spare. I've had too many flats over the years including ones that couldn't be fixed.
Much easier use the spare and get the tire fixed/replaced the next day then try and find an open tire shop late on a Sunday night.

Truck drivers doing this are just as big of douchebags as PETA activists protesting outside of restaurants serving meat.

This.

If people want to drive an electric car, that's their choice. I just don't think the taxpayer should be subsidizing the price though rebates.
If someone wants to drive a truck (or large SUV), again, that's their choice. I just wish they wouldn't park them in compact parking spaces, rendering the space next to them only good for a motorcycle.

I drive a Hybrid because it works for me. Good city mileage for my commute, more room for the family than most electrics, quick fueling, and a long range on a tank of gas when I need it. Buying a car that does what I need 80% or even 90% of the time is no good. I need something that does what I need at least 99.9% of the time. With the current battery technology, I don't see an electric car that will meet my needs anytime in the near future.

Actually, municipalities have a lot of jurisdiction on setting laws and regulations over parking on private property.

Not in this jurisdiction. Municipalities can set standards such as minimum number of handicapped spaces and fire routes but otherwise, little else. The police won't even come for a parking lot collision. Private property.

Why the hate for electrics, would you roll coal on an electric and if so, why?

In this climate, electric vehicles are useless and extremely expensive. My truck is gasoline powered, so rolling coal is not an option.
