In a recent live stream, the Halo Infinite developers confirmed several new details about the upcoming game. Unlike Halo 5, Infinite will support 4 -player splitscreen, and its also getting a Reach-like customization system. The full developer livestream can be seen on Microsoft's streaming platform, Mixer, but someone on Reddit posted a nice summary of confirmed features.

Meanwhile, various media outlets spotted an open "Senior Systems Designer" position on Microsoft's website. Among other things, 343 asks for "familiarity with RPG and Shooter game mechanics," the "ability to learn proprietary toolsets and proven record of scripting/implementing within them," a passion for the Halo franchise, and "a love for narrative based games and shooters in general." While that's far from a confirmation of a Halo RPG, it does suggest the next Halo will have more RPG-like elements.

Microsoft is probably looking at the software market and going "It doesn't matter what we release right now, nobody is going to fucking buy this shit". Because that's truth right now. Halo is a stale property, its last several iterations have kind of boiled down into the same tired story: "There's a campaign...but let's get to the Multiplayer!". And now people are going "There's no campaign, and now the Multiplayer lets you wear GREEN items! And look for the first DLC soon, "Classic Map Pack" which gives you 2 brand new maps and 4 ones you already own, but UPGRADED!".

Because that's the sad fucking state of gaming in 2018 and we let it happen ourselves by preordering garbage and then, unsurprisingly, doing it all over again. Microsoft is going "So all these clone games with no SP have failed.....and a cowboy game that is all SP made 8 billion dollars, but probably cost 8 billion to make. What Do?".

Merry Xmas!

Now I have to resist the urge to become the thing I hate and just buy Fallout 76 for $40 later on this evening out of Xmas Eve Boredom............*sigh*....holidays suck when you gotta make hard choices like this :D

Ugh just ugh. I want a traditional Halo experience. I am so fucking sick of AAA shooters shoving rpg mechanics into every FPS. Just release a fucking FPS game that is just a FPS game not a FPS game with half-assed rpg elementals.

^This. Marketing should have good numbers on who buys their game. I'm assuming a lot of Halo buyers are casual gamers who buy at most a few games a year so don't see and get burned out by the game clones. Not sure why money wise why devs would want to mess with what works, especially since Halo isn't released like Battlefield. Guessing they're worried about word of mouth with hardcore gamers that could kill hype if they don't see something new or maybe developers just want to try something new.

All I want at this point is Master Chief Collection ported to PC. They can even keep the same crappy engine that can't go past 60hz.

Halo coop campaign is still a lot of fun.

I don't mind some level up components, i think it worked well in games like Farcry. But please don't turn this game into a repetitive grindfest. I loved the classic Halo games in Coop, keep it going in that direction.

not liking this move. even for kids halo is the goto game when they just cant be arsed with faff of the other games. MCC along with perhaps minecraft and rocket league are the most pld games in my library. the franchise is based on an inter galatic war and blowing shite up you dont need any else keeping it simple is always best

I actually think Halo could be a great universe to try and apply the Destiny RPG Style to. So long as they ACTUALLY PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT WORKS in Destiny, i'm down for it.
