just picked up a FX-8350 CPU and need a mobo I can OC stable. Went to eBay and geesh not one FX 970 or 990 USED board posted for under $100 and most of them start at $150 LOL ... I paid $180 for my MSI Z370 Gaming board.

Are people really so uninformed that they'd buy those AM3+ boards for those prices ?

You should ask in the the for sale thread here, I'm sure a member would give you a good deal. eBay is weird like that for older pc parts.

This isnt just related to am3 boards, it seems all boards are rather expensive these days. (well premium EOL boards atleast.)

I dont have the system anymore, but i had a i7 4790s ES setup about 9 months ago, wanted to get a z97 board, used, ended up paying 140 dollars for a Asus Gryphon z97 MATX.....

People aren't uninformed. It's supply and demand.

I bet you could make money buying a higher end Asus board and then selling it BNIB when the socket is EOL. It's not that its worth it per se. It's just that there likely aren't any NIB boards anymore. I always keep all of the retail accessories for this reason also. Worth more to the right person when you go to sell it.

ok, that makes sense. It's like when someone will pay $50 for an empty retail GPU box

I have an 8350 CPU so needed a board I can OC and came across a GA-970A-UD3 tonight on eBay for $85 shipped. I don't SLI so problem solved

thanks for all the input

I sold a GPU on ebay for 400$ that I paid 95$ for....Obviously back when people were trying to get rich off bitcoin mining.

What was this thread about again?
