Nephew build randomly freezing

Ok.
Windows update finished a while ago. Chrome browser working fine prior to this.
I installed Asus Grid, and Realtek drivers thru it.
Restart.
Windows finishes update 1803, boots fine.
Chrome is broken.
"establishing secure connection" happens then "err timed out" happens.

Anyone have experience with this?

Sorry man, work has been very busy the last week.

So the machine seems to be working fine. Well
Chrome works. Gaming is another issue.

Now have to figure out the monitor issues.
While at 144hz in PUBG the monitor will randomly flicker. It turns black then goes back to the game. It happens in all games according to him. I've only seen it in PUBG and Street Fighter. Swapped monitors and it seem fine. I left and when he changed it to 144hz he had thesame issues. I thought it was always at 144hz. They are both the Asus MG248QR. Should have swapped DP cables.

Just asked him to switch settings to 144gz in Windows, and Steam. The test it out again.

Am I missing something simple here too? Like those games not supporting 144hz.

if the new cables still have problems you may have to go into the monitor settings and screw with it, i know i did with my VG245H's out of the box the default settings were all sorts of screwed up and had to go in and enable/disable a bunch of stuff to get them to properly run at 75hz. it could also be possible that the drivers are trying to enable freesync but it's not enabled on the monitor and/or his frame rates below the minimum threshold of freesync.. these are just guesses though since i've never actually used freesync yet even though all my monitors have it. :( other thing to try would be to set the monitor to 120hz and see if the problem goes away, could just be that the panel doesn't like running at 144hz.

Thanks, I'll have him try these suggestions out. Or hopefully, I can get over there and do it.
