Is it worth the upgrade?

heya guys.
So will try to keep this short.

I atm own i7 6700k 4.5ghz/gtx1080/16gb Ram/850 pro SSD/Asus Strix z270-f
I have option to sell mine and if I add 450 -500 euro I can get myself i9 9900k/rtx2080/16gb Ram/870 evo m.2/ Dark rock pro 4 CPU cooler with Gygabite z390 Gaming X.

Should I go for it and is it a good upgrade for 450 euro?
 
Are you running a 144+ hz monitor? Do you need higher frames than 60 fps? What resolution do you play at? 1080/1440/4k?

If you're playing at 1080p, your right is good for 60+ hz gaming.

I'd say upgrade if you want to increase FPS or resolution.
 
I am playing at 32 Samsung 1440p 144hz HDR monitor.

Simply knowing how overpriced the i9 is at this moment and getting whole new system with 450 euro out of my pocket feels so tempting.
Buyer is ready to collect my existing system tomorrow morning once I give him green light.
So its decided will need to get it.

Thanks guys just wanted some extra opinions before I proceed

Since you'd be taking advantage of it with the resolution and refresh rate, I'd totally go for it - personally.
 
With the monitor you have I would go for it.

Those new parts would keep the frame rates way up there on that 1440p 144hz monitor.

Just yesterday got my new system just wanted to share with results.
1st of all loving it so far performance wise did not expect such boost in performance.
Just need to find more efficient way to get 5GHz without heating up the CPU as I am not so familiar with Gigabyte BIOS.GPU running at its 80C at stock but that could be due bad placement of motherboard and lack of frontal fans to deliver cold air to GPU.
But will sell the spare parts and upgrade them over time.
So end result looks something like this.

Gratz! I recently had a similar upgrade. I went from a 6700K to the 9900K. I'm also running a Gigabyte Mobo (the Aurus Master) What are you using for a Cooler, and Keyboard? I know that sounds unrelated, but I have a reason. I recently purchased a new Corsair K95 Keyboard and after I installed it, I found my CPU temps to skyrocket. The problem turned out to be the Corsair Link software for my CPU cooler was not playing nicely with the Software for the keyboard. Fortunately uninstalling Corsair Link and using the new software did the trick for me. While I'm not Overclocking, I am getting upper 20's while idling and mid 70's under load (Prime95) It's really not that much different from what I was getting on the 6700K it replaced. It's actually using the same Cooler, Case, Fans and RAM as I just swapped out the Motherboard and CPU.

I also had some trouble with the frequency resetting to lower than 4.7 Ghz after every reboot, but Flashing the BIOS to the latest version fixed that.

I am using my good old SteelSeries Apex RGB been using for years and got way to used to it. And as CPU Cooler using Kraken x62
 
Selling used gaming pc is tough.. If you've got someone lined up I'd do it. That's a great price to upgrade but it depends if you really need it. Like the other user said, unless you plan to play on 1440p with like 140hz the upgrade would be minimal on 1080p

Did you even read the whole thread before posting? It's over and done with and he already bought new parts.
