Here is the official Hellboy trailer from Lionsgate Movies on YouTube. The movie adaptation of the popular comic book has a April 12, 2019 release date and stars David Harbour, Milla Jovovich, Ian McShane, Daniel Dae Kim, and Sasha Lane. According to The Hollywood Reporter, this is the 3rd Hellboy film, but the first reboot in the series. Don't forget to change the resolution to 1440p!

Based on the graphic novels by Mike Mignola, Hellboy, caught between the worlds of the supernatural and human, battles an ancient sorceress bent on revenge.

Is his face CGI?

no it's a prosthetic and a really bad one at that because they tried to make him look as close as they could to perlman's hellboy and failed because the guy's head isn't big enough. sorry but i'd take Perlman as hellboy over this any day of the week.

No Ron Perlman?

Perlman wanted to do a 3rd Hellboy movie but instead they decided to just reboot the entire series.

I dunno, could be good.

The question is, was anyone asking for this? I thought the first two they did were fine.

I think the face is CGI, actually I think the character is CGI and he's the voice/standin for shots.

It was interesting to see the trailer and I was not completely displeased. I would have preferred to see Pearlman back more than the new guy.

And WTF do they keep rebooting these super hero movies. They have MORE stores than the introduction.

First one was ruined by purple boss squid, the second just got beat up by the fact that two amazing comic movies showed people they could be done much better (Dark Knight and Iron Man).

There are always plenty of adventures to bring to the theater. Lots of comics to tell tales. Saddened by the lack of Perlman, and the actor portraying Hellboy seems rather dark, but we will see.

So.Tired.Of.Reboots.

Seriously. Every reboot ever is a slap in the face of anyone with an attention span of more than 5 minutes. Continue the story, build on the previous movies, build a world and new characters that we love or hate.... but for f*ck's sake STOP REPEATING YOURSELF WITH REBOOTS!

eeeh his make up and the actor just don't really fit, but the same was said of christian bale and Ben affleck both ended up being fine. I'll keep an open mind. Supposedly Mike Magnola has a huge place in the writing and production then again so did Robert Kirkman and TWD is garbage.

reboots are ok, as long as it isn't then spending 50% of the movie doing an origin OR redoing previous stories..

Ron as HB was great and cheesy, hopefully this is a bit darker but still cheesy

Ron Pearlman can suck it. Liberal asshat! Fine he holds his opinions, but when he resorts to baseless name calling/mud slinging towards other's with differing opinions; these hollywood nitwits get put on my BAN list. I may watch this one now.

Hellboy's face looked great with Ron Perlman's because the face is big and long. But the new Hellboy's face? Looks shrunken and shallow.

Didn't like the trailer. The guy doesn't sound like he is delivering the lines right and sounds really flat to me. Maybe it's the edit of the trailer but uggh to me Perlman was so much better in this role from what I have seen so far.

It’s coming out 11 days before End Game. Not much time to make money before EG takes over the planet.

Been following this for a couple years. At first I was bummed Ron was out but when I heard they cast Harbour I got optimistic. I think it has potential. Originally I heard the movie was supposed to have a much darker tone to it so I have my doubts how accurate this trailer is portraying it.

Doesn't look good from the trailer shows. But I'll watch it because they got rid of that asshole perlman.

Yar, I had heard it was going to be more 'horror focused' - whereas the trailer seemed very much set in the same tone as the previous films. Which is kind of a bummer for me - I thought they dropped Guillermo because they wanted to go in a different route, but if they're going to go down the same route why not at least complete/continue the original story arc from the previous movies.

Personally I think the new Hellboy design looks great (and a lot like the Perlman version).

Also, Jovovich still holds up well.

Would not want to follow in Perlman's steps. He really was the definitive Hellboy.

So what's the issue with Ron Pearlman? Did he hurt someones feelings?

I find it funny and sort of sad there are people out there who are so eaten up by politics they cannot disassociate from it while watching a work of fiction.

I am really glad I am not like that. It has to be sad to be wrapped up in that kind of misery.

I’d rather them finish the original trilogy with Perlman too. I enjoyed the first two Hellboys despite my expectations being otherwise.

Pearlman has been around for a while, I kind of suspect HB was modelled on Pearlman. I agree he's an asshat, but he pretty much nailed the character. OTOH he's probably too old to do it anymore.

This new one, is it a prequel to the other or a reboot?

Not too old

They’d use stunt doubles for the fight scenes or CG. Just like they did in the first two.

He was my favorite character in Alien: Resurrection.
The entire mercenary team, in that movie (With the possible exception of Winona Ryder), was well cast. It's a shame that movie went all weird with the "newborn" alien. They should have followed the "Music of the spears" comic if they wanted to have a weird scientist.

I can usually disassociate; I must because it's a given that the political leanings of most in Hollywood are opposite of my own. However, some actors are so in-your-face vile about what they say that I cannot disregard it. Michael Shannon is one such. I used to enjoy his work until he began actively wishing death on those who voted for Trump. Talk like that leaves me unable to suspend my disbelief when I see these people on screen. In Shannon's case, all I can think of when I see him is how I'd like to pound his face in.

I looked up some of the things Perlman said after reading this thread; he's angry and strong in his opinions and obviously hates Trump with a passion, but I didn't find anything which puts me into boycott mode, unless I missed something.

I could see a decent quality poster of that image being put up somewhere.

What is this garbage? Hellboy, Hellboy never changes!

they couldn't fund a real Hellboy 3, but they made a reboot?
