DICE Apologizes to Battlefield V Players for Dumbing Down the Game

This is what Hardcore did for previous games, and at least in BF4, it was variably adjustable for custom servers.

The problem with BFV is the server browser is utter shit. It worked with BF3 and 4 because you could easily swap filters quickly. And the browser was reliable and fast. For BF4 I did Conquest Large for normal mode and TDM/Domination with Hardcore. Took me a few seconds to swap between the two. BFV's shitastic "server browser" will prevent most people from setting filters. Most just say "fuck it" and choose whatever is the default or their last one.

I understand making plugins for various browsers must suck, but something like Battle log can be done in game. I know some games in the past did this. You launch the game, it enters a server browser. Select filters/server, load it up, and then the game would load. Without the use of a 3rd party internet browser.

see what Zuckerberg started? More and more companies are saying, "Sorry !" instead of fixing the problem(s) THEY caused before the "sorry" needs to be used.

between a companies computer lady answering system and the constant use of "sorry" I'm getting ready to resign from society

Are there no Hardcore modes in this game?

If so, can players not set the server filters for such things?

Case dismissed.

Honestly can't tell any difference from before or after the patch.. The enemy still goes down before they can do anything.

I think the TTK that's been in there since start was a suitable "in-between" setting that I think it bridges the gap between casual and hardcore players. IMO it might be smarter to try get something which is a compromise that works decent for everyone, splitting playerbase with casual and hardcore especially in BF5 when it hasn't caught on so well might not be the best thing to do right now.

Most seems to agree TTD needs to be improved though to not be so instant so that's where Dice should focus on.

... as a new player you login and die instantly as a general rule, not fun.
... which is why I stay away from this type of games.
There really should be some type of player ranking system and matching so that players will only have to meet other players of similar rank. (Optional to enter a game for higher ranks.)

The game is fine the way it is now. If you want to be one shot killed everytime you spawn go play rainbow six siege. i guarantee you the biggest whiners are the pussies that are camping for kills instead of playing objectives.

Every PVP game that increases TTK usually lands up losing a large percent of its player base.

Usually people that get killed by campers are situationally unaware of of the map and land up running directly into a shooting lane again and again and again. Don't get me wrong...I suck and PVP but even I understand that usually when I die it is because I have less of a grasp on the map and the games mechanics than the guy who killed me (regardless of method).

How about they fix the xbox controller mechanics before messing around with other stuff. At least the singleplayer was fun but the controls are terrible compared to BO4 if playing with a gamepad.

I dont know what they fixed but I know I get killed almost immediately from some yahoos 2 miles from me. Its like I have this giant billboard sized red target on my character that shoot here!... Not fun... love the graphics just not the gameplay... I am playing Sandstorm mostly now..

all in all the shooting mechanics are fine I think though I've been playing support and the LMGs are a little too accurate imo. I really wish they'd drop the TTK issues and work on putting out some better maps. Most of them suck especially hamada.

The difference in TTK is one or two more shots per engagement which actually gives someone a slight chance to correct themselves and run into cover when they're being ROFLcamped across the map by 5+ people at once.

Also have you played this game? Because you have no idea what you're talking about, there's no "shooting lanes" in most of the maps when you have to traverse wide open areas with 0 cover to get from flag to flag which encourages people camp sniping especially with the lower TTK- (why play the objective when you can take a spot and one two shot kill people from across the map).

The map designs are completely shit for a low TTK value when you're getting shot from multiple directions at long to medium range without cover from flag to flag, except for a few like Devastation and Arras. or even implement fog. The game has gone to shit since BF1 with the stupid power creep toward long range camping.

I just got BFV. If the TTK were higher, it'd turn into a sniper fest shit show. There are other solutions, like one sniper per squad, or make them have an EXTREMELY realistic aiming difficulty. Standing, no support? You ain't headshotting at 300+ yards.

Look, when BF4 launched, the netcode was SEVERELY bitched up. Doesn't surprise me that there is a problem here - but I think this is an appropriate bandaid until the other issues are resolved.

Edit: I meant if the TTK were lower.

I've been hearing good things about this. Is "Red Orchestra" style in the desert a reasonably good descriptor?

I think a good description is Battlefield 2 and ARMA had a baby but the maps are obviously smaller than either. If you pick up the game, a lot of people are reporting stuttering but I was able to solve this by turning "maximum pre rendered frames = 4" in the NVIDIA control panel. Now it's smooth as butter.

Overall the game is very fun, ultra low TTK (2 shots basically anywhere or 1 to the head with any rifle). So positioning, smoke, angles, all become much more important than the run and gun COD/BF model. So when you see someone and they don't see you, they're dead. On the other hand, sometimes you turn a corner and just die. No kill cam, you just wonder who got you.

Thats one thing that kinda pisses me off. I see snipers running around like awpers in csgo. Id like to see that shit toned down.

It already was a shit show when the TTK was at the lower launch values because of that exact reason. They will never put a limit on classes, they should've just dropped the sniper class all together because it is totally unbalanced within their whole design, make a new engineer class for repairs and building stuff with the smgs that were given to medics, give medics back the DMRs and limit sniper rifles to 2 battle pickups per team. There's no fog so you can hit anyone across the map without a problem because the map design doesn't prohibit viewing distances, there's no mortars anymore so nothing to discourage people from camping, very limited ADS sway, and no suppression on snipers getting shot at, but whatever the game is just mediocre crap at best.

I'm glad the game did worse than BF1. Hell even in BF1 i was able to play 4 or 5 hours straight and have fun, this game I feel like done after 2 rounds.

I do think BF5 has good potential but there's a few major issues that can still be fixed but it might take too long before DICE gets the game to the point that too many people already left. I think especially:

- TTD (netcode/ping compensation issues)
- Lack of balance (paper/rock/scissors). Snipers don't have an effective enemy. Mortars would be that, DICE do intend to add it still but why not include it from start? Mortars started appearing in WW1 already and in WW2 got more advanced and easier to carry around. Weapons still could use slight balancing too
- Lack of maps or variety to them
- Map design, too "open" generally favoring sniper play a bit too much

I think a lot of core stuff is quite good though. I'm more of a gameplay guy though. I can look past political agendas or bugs or crappy user interfaces if once ingame I'm having a good time. In the same sense I was a huge UT3 fan that many UT fans dislikes. Sure the visual clarity in graphic setting was absurd with all the effects (solved by turning graphics effects down), sure it had very odd looking character designs, sure it had a lot of missing features at launch, sure it had a crappy console GUI, sure it had FPS issues initially but the gameplay was great (for me the best of the series) which got me stuck around. For BF5 I feel the same, it's many things "around it" that has disappointed but it has quite a few okay gameplay aspects to it and I see many of the BF veterans / streamers seem to be on that point and can look past many of the issues other players can't for one reason or another but the whole social media debacle seems to have blown up pretty badly for this game.

One key implement that would hinder recon class is surpression. There is literally NON. Assault and recon are my two main classes and I could sit there, while i take fire, and aim at their head without any surpression at all. Unlike in BF1 where I had to back off to restart the suppression effect CD
