Oculus third sensor setup

I've been using the 2-sensor 360° setup since I got my Rift, and while it's usually pretty good there are occasional hiccups. A third sensor is on the way.

The graphics I've seen explaining a 2-sensor setup show the maximum distance between of your sensors as 10', looking diagonally at a 5'x5' play area. Once I add the third sensor, (looking from a third corner,) can I spread the original two farther apart?

I play standing, but not room-scale. 5'x5' is barely too small and I'm frequently seeing the "blue cage" appear when I get a little spirited in combat. I'd like to open it up to 6'x6' or even 7'x7' if I can, but that's a large hassle of repositioning sensors to discover that it doesn't work.

What have you three-sensor Oculus folks discovered to work best?
 
My three sensor setup is this: the front two are set up 8 feet high, 10 feet apart. The third sensor is also 8 feet high, set back twelve feet from the front two, one one side (not in the middle). My office is a 10 x 12 room, I have sensors in 3 corners. You can ignore the 'unsupported' warnings you will get when placing the front two that far apart. I have had my 3 sensors set up this way since Touch came out. I could run 4 sensors (i have an extra), but the USB load and extra logistics of wiring isnt worth it.


P.S. You can turn off guardian if you want, and there are custom third party tools to edit it to be larger than your physical space.

Thanks! It sounds like I can open up my area a bit.

I've toyed with the idea of turning off guardian, but I'm in my basement which has all my project tables, hobby stuff, and open frame chassis around the walls. I could accidentally do a lot of damage with an errant swing. I did snag guardian boundary editor and have used it, but have been nervous about bringing the walls too close to the edges of my sensor lines of sight.

My three sensors are mounted 8 feet high on the ceiling, upside down, all aimed towards the center of the room. Each sensor is 10' away from the next closest sensor arranged in a right angle triangle.

The app Sensor Bounds is free on the Oculus store and helps a lot with aiming/placing the sensors to cover the largest area possible.

For OP, yeah upside down (or any orientation) doesnt matter at all. I have one of the front cameras actually mounted to the bottom of a Vive Lighthouse so its upside down and the other front camera is right side up in a different mount.
 
If I can remember too I will take a photo of how mine are setup for you later.
