Monster Hunter: World

My main issue is with the Arena Quests which are necessary for some weapons but you can't find people to do them with and they are scaled towards a group regardless if you solo

Yeah, those can be frustrating. My recommendation is to filter sessions for Arena Quests and see if there is a populated room. You might have to jump a couple of rooms to find people actually doing arena quests, but usually you can find some people doing them.

Does this Armor make me look fat? lol

I ditched the Pumpkin Armor had alot of weight to it seen a guy helping me with the Ice Dragon above he left explosions barrels all over the place.
This game doesn't seem very long though I though it would be never ending I mean if you want complete Armor sets of everything it will take you a while.
Also noticed that some swords and stuff are better than others I mean some of the stuff you get from the first Zone needs to be sharpened more often.

So how is the game is it worth buying and playing?

How is the keyboard and mouse support I did hear i sucked ?

Mouse and Keyboard is great actually it's alot more forgiving than Dark Souls mouse and Keyboard. The game has a Endgame actually I haven't got there yet but you hurt different Elder dragons that are more challenging I guess. The summoning of other player with a SOS flare is fun if you don't feel up to the task of soloing.

Good to hear!

.... Today, is a good day.

Finished upgrading from an i5-750 to a Xeon 4c/8t and swapped out the old GTX 960 for a 980 Ti.

Purchased Monster Hunter, it defaulted to the High preset. I was like "coo.".

Played till I got to whatever the first big town is....

Not ONCE did it drop below 60 fps.

To quote Chris Rock: "This is what I paid for!"

Anyways.... how do I turn off this "soupy-fog" DOF business??

So I managed to play this for about an hour last night (much to the chagrin of others in the living room lol)

Am I wrong in seeing this as kinda-sorta like a much deeper Phantasy Star Online?? (after a fashion... mostly the way MP is handled)

If so, my god.... this game is gonna be SUCH a longolier....

So how does the multiplayer work exactly?

Once you're able to get quests, can you start teaming-up??

I saw it mentioning voice chat and whatnot.

I could see myself playing this a lot more if we had a [H] group or something....

if you have friends you can always team up with them. quests are mostly of two types. there are story missions and investigations. Story missions you have to start solo. Eventually you get to a part where you have to hunt a monster. Then you can shoot a flare and others can join.

Investigations generally offer better rewards. You will typically start one and then shoot a flare. You collect investigations by gathering tracks. The better investigations give purple rewards. When you search for a game to join generally these will go the fastest.

Lunastra arrives on November 22!

new PC options also incoming:

- "DOF (Depth of Field)" will be added to the Advanced Graphics Settings. This feature allows you to enable/disable the functionality to adjust focus by changing the camera distance

- "Vignette Effects" will be added to the Advanced Graphics Settings. This feature allows you to enable/disable shading of screen edges by adjusting the brightness between the center and peripheral areas

- A preset function will be added to the Keyboard Settings, allowing you to save changes you made to the key configuration

- On top of the regular "Default" Keyboard Settings, a "Default 2" option will be added for 5-button mouse controls

Does this have a strong community on PC? I bought a One X to play it when it came out... got several hundred hours out of it, and sold the console to get a 2nd switch. Taking a hiatus from WoW, was thinking about picking this up for PC and getting back into it. I heard it had issues at launch on PC though. Are those mostly resolved? Is there a H community that plays?

Thanks in advance for all the answers.

Went from 250,000 players three months ago to 45,000 players today.

I haven't touched this in a while. I will probably roll back around to it, but between Red Dead Redemption 2 and other titles, I kinda just lost interest. A big factor was the slow content drip on the PC when the other platforms were already way ahead.

They have stepped it up a bit with Kulve and now getting into Arch Tempered monsters, but I've gone through most of that on the PS4 already so there's not a huge impetus for me to keep playing at the moment.

So you cant just walk around the environment together fighting? you have to be in a mission/investigation?

It groups you automatically if you don't want to wait you can jump in the mission yourself or investigation and summon help with a sos flare gun. Alot of the game is surface I mean everything in the game is a herb or honey to be collected there is so much stuff you can collect in the game it's like a drug addiction.

You can go on an Expedition, which is basically just running around in the environment with no time limit. You can gather resources, hunt monsters, whatever. Large monsters will cycle in and out of the environment and resources will regenerate over a short time.

That said, for the best rewards you are going to want to be doing Investigations.

You will want resources to continually upgrade your gear. Early game you can walk around and kill stuff, but at some point you will look at the upgrades you want, figure out what monster drops that loot, and do investigations for that monster. Investigations give more/better rewards than just randomly finding and killing that monster. Also much more time efficient

Yeah, they are pushing out content fast to get up to parity with the console versions.

I hadn't played for awhile, but I put in a bit of time for the Winter festival tickets.

Capcom has just issued a special developer update for Monster Hunter World...in a livestream that took place earlier this afternoon, the game’s producer, Ryozo Tsujimoto issued several announcements, the most important of which is an expansion featuring a brand-new biome – Monster Hunter World: Iceborn...Tsujimoto said the expansion is set to arrive in Autumn 2019 for console...the massive update will include new locales, monsters and gear, as well as a continuation of the base game's narrative...the Iceborne expansion is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with a PC version coming at a later date.

the update also reveals that The Witcher’s Geralt of Rivia is heading to the game as part of a special crossover event due to take place in early 2019, starring the The Witcher’s original voice actor...

As much as I enjoyed the game I don't think I'll buy any DLC it' s just a roadblock game DLC once you do the DLC basically replay is out the window. Unlike the good old days with Ultima Online 2nd Age DLC and anything Mythic would pump out for expansion packs.

Da fuq are you talking about? The expansion just adds a new map, more monsters, more gear, etc. If anything it provides MORE replay value because you don't have to just keep fighting the same X number of monsters that are in the game currently.

I'm surprised that even the expansion won't be released at the same time on PC...if they stick to the same schedule as the main game then it means 6 months later for PC...it will never fully catch up with consoles in terms of content

It would be great to have a [H] group on this - I picked it up during the Steam Winter Sale, and none of my friends actively play this game.

how come only 117 hours in the game?...I thought you would have like 500+ hours with how much you love the game...burnt out playing the console version :D

Yeah, most of my playtime is on PS4, I put in the time on PC to get to end game and then sort of got burned out for a bit. Started playing again a bit recently with Kulve and the Winter event.

I haven't really put any more time in on the PS4, as the PC version is far superior. So any further playtime will be PC from here on out. Looking forward to Iceborne!

Title Update 5.1 is set to roll out tomorrow...the update will add the much-requested support for 21:9 ultrawide monitors, although it seems that cutscenes won't display 21:9...Vignette Effects will also be changed to allow three options; High/Normal/Off, rather than just On or off and a push-to-talk voice option will also be added to the game...

Nice! I have been doing some deco sniping lately, since I'm at the point where I'm basically just trying to get better end-game builds. Looking forward to the Anniversary event so I can get some more AT armor and farm for zenny - actually been running low due to upgrading high-end armor.

Just checked the new update out and the 21:9 support. It's glorious. Don't care too much about cutscenes not displaying in 21:9 since the vast majority of my time spent in game is...well...in game and not in the cutscenes. :D

I've been spending most of my time on the PS4 version, but now with the added ultrawide support I may take the leap to PC as my main platform. I think Capcom is surprised how well the game is selling on PC (almost always on top of the global top sellers chart when its on sale) and are devoting a bit more time to "better" the PC version.
