Today's data leak of the day comes from... Bethesda. Recently, Bethesda promised to give buyers of Fallout 76's $200 Power Armor edition a real canvas bag. But to do that, customers had to create a support ticket and submit proof of purchase, which allegedly included a receipt containing credit card information, phone numbers, home addresses, and more. After submitting the tickets, users started to notice that they could see everyone else's tickets, as well as the proof they submitted. Naturally, this started to blow up on Twitter, Reddit, YouTube, and Bethesda's official forums. PCGamesN says Bethesda's support site went down when they first noticed the issue, and that the receipts included credit card numbers, while Bethesda customer support claims that the issue is now "fixed". Thanks to Ocellaris for the tip.

When Bethesda offered to send out canvas bag replacements for those who bought the Fallout 76 Power Armor Edition, I'll admit that I thought the problems were resolved and the saga of the canvas bag was done for. Clearly, that belief was a naive one.

can't wait for the fallout and internal investigation and finding of no wrong doing.

wew that was a close one there.

Wow. Bethesda just can't win for losing, can they? I almost feel a little bad for them. Almost.

One of those bad to worse scenarios. I can see somebody there putting their head in the their hands and saying why me, why me followed by a huge sigh.

Folks, if you want a real canvas bag, just go to an Army surplus store for heaven's sake. If you pony $200 over to Bethesda, you'll get to find out what real fallout is...

They are really gunning to be the most hated company of 2018 ain't they?

Bethesda is killing it in 2018.

They're leaving it all on the floor. They're on fire.

P.S. F*%@#$ I hope they don't lose their shirt, 'cause I still want to play the next Elder Scrolls and Fallout games.

They won't. Zenimax is a big company, Bethesda is their golden goose, this is just one game, and bad PR is nothing new. They'll survive. Honestly, BGS needs a wake up call anyway.

And yeah... In spite of all this, I'm still looking forward to Starfield.

I would be until I learned they're still going to be using the same engine as Fallout / Elder Scrolls. It's not 20 years old with a history of hundreds of bugs in their releases or anything.

Yeah... Well... That's it for me with BGS I fear... I'll wait for ES6 to hit 10$ before buying... No more day 1-5 launches of their products for me.

Nice; it's not only a leak, but a leak of customers with more money than they know what to do with :)

Still looking forward to ES6 and Starfield as well.

Isn't the rumour out that Starfield and ES6 are still creation engine? As using the engine apparently 'helps them work more efficiently'.

Also am I wrong but are there still no working ladders in these games, only used for loading screens not actually climbable to different levels?

Its time to switch to a new engine

Maybe it wasn't a "breach". Maybe it was on purpose, for everyone bitching about their bags. Sounds like payback to me :cautious: /s

But it does suck for them and customers because they caused their own shit storm for sure.....

Can't say I am. Bethesda has completely pissed away any goodwill or remaining faith I had in them. From now on Bethesda is on the same list as EA, ActiBlizz, and 2K. They have to fucking prove anything they put out is worth giving a damn about for me to even consider giving them a single cent.

This game is really shaping up to be a disaster for Bethesda.

Honestly they should just stick at what they are good at Open World do what you want RPGs, they have 2 heavy hitters with Fallout and Elder Scrolls, yet they keep insisting they are more than that, there is zero reason when you have that ridiculously popular of an IP to sit on it for overly long development cycles its money wasted.

Their core audience has always been willing to overlook the bugs and flaws of their games by modding them to fix what they haven't, the issue is with the areas they are trying to branch into the audience is less forgiving and rarely will bypass and overlook flaws of the nature, a great example was that Fallout76 released with known Flaws and Bugs from FO4 that modders fixed and reported...yet they made the same mistakes and didn't fix the stuff before they released 76....

Bethesda..Blizzard…Bioware….. all the great heavy hitting studios from the old days seem to be majorly screwing up to the point they lost their charm, Honestly the only studios I have looked forward to their releases are Larian and CDProject Red, 2 Indie studios with less resources and capital, yet they seem to always impress me with good decent games that don't betray the IPs genre or platform.

What receipt lists your whole CC number? I don't think I've ever gotten a receipt that didn't mask all but the last 4 digits and would be VERY surprised if it wasn't violating financial regulations by not masking it.

They are taking Elder Scrolls Online approach to Fallout. They were just to quick to release this game to get more money from the fan base.

Only to find out that none of the influencers data was taken

Seriously though Beth, wtf is up?

Next week find out that some custom anticheating software in FO76 rooted everyones pc?

they released a statement about this yesterday where they repeated the word "Limited" like 6 times to say this is no big deal, move along.

They would have been better letting Zenimax online then the Studio/team that did ESO create this game. they are a Fish out of water.

That and they would be better off focusing on the next Elder Scrolls game than putting out this disaster (from what I have seen) no one was asking for.
