Titan RTX soon?

True. Personally, I'm not really upset. I'm getting great performance and I'm happy with the purchase of the Tis.

It just flies in the face of all the thoughts that the 2080 Ti was replacing the Titan class card. Now we see that was not true, Nvidia just raised the prices on us.

I don't expect much of anything until they shrink to 7nm.
 
^^^^ Ditto. The most recent jumps forward have been somewhat small, incremental steps in performance paired with RTX that nothing really uses yet. This upcoming Titan will hopefully be the last 12nm release as to top tier cards.

The die shrink to 7nm will hopefully bring with it bigger/bolder performance jumps and better OCing headroom.
 
Nvidia saw the ray-tracing benchmark numbers were not looking good with the 2080ti and they realized they needed to release something more powerful...
 
Jay has been showing of a Titan RTX box too, exactly the same as the one Linus showed.

Which is what historically has gone on for at least a few generations. It wasn’t a bait and switch. Nvidia has done this multiple times.

Yeah, maybe with this Titan RTX you can actually play BFV at 60 fps 1080p :p

I think most just assumed a Titan would be prosumer orientied like the Titan V. And I’ve been saying since the Quadro/2080ti announcement it wouldn’t be worth waiting for, difference would be negligible which I still holds true.

Unfortunately it has the same number of RT and tensor cores as the 2080ti iirc.
 
So much for every person out there that said, Nvidia released the 2080TI that will replace TITANS in the gaming line to justify its stupidly high price and that TITANS will only be for work station purpose computers...

I said Nvidia released the Ti first to prevent price compression, justify a price increase and move excess 10 series inventory and was one of the first people to predict that, I don't remember seeing many people making claims about Titans though, I wonder where this is being 'organically' repeated everywhere from...

Their solution to excess 1000-series stock, to put the prices higher per performance bracket, seems to have worked pretty well- at least the 1080Ti stock has responded. Prices on 1070's seem to have dropped pretty well too.

The second part of this 'prediction' is that they'll drop 2000-series prices once supply channels start thinning out. While this may be unintuitive to those biased against Nvidia, it fits in with basic market economics: their revenue, and thus profit, is driven both by price levels and volume, and their volume can logically drop off due to pricing such to the point as to hurt their immediate profitability. Further, one of their advantages is market share, and they'd lose that too, which in turn hurts future profitability.

Lol lets launch a brand new series of cards with the intention to not sell any... but to actually sell other products instead. Sounds like a great way to devalue your entire company by almost 42% in just 3 months.

Also, it the claims on the TITAN was mentioned numerous times across many youtubers. Feel free to search through hundreds of videos that said the same thing. I won't bother to do that for you... but I can at least link you one.

I'm just waiting for the RTX TITAN TI Black Edition V Super Turbo Overclocked AIO Liquid Nitrogen with a solid 24k gold heatsink and GIA certified diamond encrusted fans version to come out 2 months later.

Plus an extra $29.99 for RBG lights though... which might be a deal breaker.

2080ti owners are not supposed to care about value so just sell those and grab the new *best* if it bothers you. You still got a beast card

People are down on Nvidia lately because they wanted performance improvements at the $500-500 and $750-800 price points. But you don't really get any more fps with 2070 or 2080 than you did 2 years ago with 1080 and 1080ti. They just made the cooler better and took some of your OC headroom for themselves so they look 5-10% faster. 2080ti is the only card that really moves the bar and even then it costs a ton and you have to be concerned with failures.

I hardly watch youtube for hardware stuff, rather read about it. On [H]ere it wasn't a common opinion, youtube is a whole different ballgame of bullshit though.
They of course intended to sell some, but not that many. Last Ti is only a percent or two of the market, 2080 and 2070 will be a bit more but still not huge numbers until they drop in price further, keep in mind the midrange and low end are the meat and potatoes of the volume market.

Agreed on all points and this is what they appear to be up to, also did mention in predictions that they'd drop price eventually, it's a given but when is the real question, I'd say we have a lot of 1070s still left to clear out judging by prices. The mining flood is on too.. Seen some crazy stuff but I'd prefer a V64 without raped HBM..
 
I wonder if the RTX Titan is just a 2080ti that last more than a week before needing a RMA.
 
I remember when i paid a $2000 for a set of original Titans back in the day at Fry's in Renton. The sales guy had a decent commission I'm sure.

A lot of 2080 Ti owners probably aren't interested in modding though. Titans have always been locked to reference coolers in the western market, IIRC only in the Chinese market has there been Titans with AIB coolers. They also have a low power target so that means you'll either have to know how to mod your own BIOS or wait for one to be posted on the forums. For a 5% performance boost that only materializes with a custom BIOS AND a 3rd party cooler, you are looking at people that are tinkering enthusiasts. It'll still be slower than a top AIB 2080 Ti without modding.

The other issue is, unless you HAVE to have RT cores, this thing won't be faster than the 32GB Titan V CEO Edition that, if you have unlimited funds, makes a lot more sense with the ability to OC RAM to over 1.2 TB/s and the much higher CUDA core count.
 
Milking about $500 more than strictly necessary IMHO. And yes, they should have left it at 16gb of VRAM. $1999 would have at least been semi-palatable in a harsh, bitter sort of way. $2500 is practically non-edible.

Because this is not for strictly gaming, some scenes and many datasets for professional applications need more than 11 or 12GB. The price also suggests it's not fo for gaming. Of course you can game on it and it'll be a bit faster than the 2080 Ti, but not worth more than double the price for that. For pros, it's good value compared to the Quadro.

This. Seems like NVIDIA are trying to make the Titan brand a prosumer product again. This started with the Titan V: get 80% of a V100 for less than 30% the cost. But I'm sure the internet outrage machine will be working overtime on this one yet again.

You're missing the point, it's not a gaming card and the price is fair compared to the equivalent Quadro (which I have in my lab), the only thing Quadro does is offer a blower-style cooler (which is good for racks and systems with multiple GPUs) and ECC support. The extra RAM is necessary for large datasets. Heck, when we do analysis we often go over 24GB with a single Quadro and that slows things down quite a bit. It's there for those gamers who don't care about costs, but for pros who don't need some Quadro-specific features or ECC support (which I don't think the Titan offers) it's a really good value.

And yet they send it to gaming tech oriented youtubers like jayzs2cents when for titan XP and titan v they didn't as they were saying it wasn't a gaming card.
 
I don't expect much better ray traicing performance than a 2080ti for gaming, but the memory is very valuable for anyone doing deep learning models. I've figured out how to max out DGX memory and am looking to get another one.

For those starting to work with machine learning and their budgets can only go so far, this represents a decent investment. There was also a special edition Titan V with 32GB available for research purposes as well.It was called the CEO edition. A normal volta professional card will cost you over 10K right now.
 
Looks like it's not aimed at gaming. Feeling good about the 2080 Ti purchase still.
