It isn't the company it once was once the Chinese bought it out. I purchased a 9900K + Gigabyte Aorus Master from there and today both items arrived or so I thought. The 9900K showed up as expected but instead of the motherboard there was a Gigabyte RX 580 8GB video card instead.

I had to wait 1 hour on hold listening to NewEggs mindless Christmas jingles until I finally got a lady who started pulling up someone else's information until I corrected her twice. At first she thought I wanted a new video card until I had to explain to her very clearly what happened and when she finally understood, she had me send her pictures of the card + bar code.

She puts me on hold for 10 minutes and comes back and says they can't do advanced RMA and send me the god damn motherboard because they want me to send the RX 580 back first through FedEx ground service (they generated the label) and I'd have to wait 7 business days minimum for a turn around.

I'm worried that these NewEgg idiots will think I sent back a RX 580 instead of a Gigabyte board and then send the card right back to me causing me even more headaches and delays in completing this build. I guess my other recourse would be to go to my credit card company and dispute the charge.

Has anyone else ever experienced this with NewEgg before and if so, what did you do to get it resolved?

I've never had an issue, although I do not shop there anymore.

Perhaps ask to speak to a supervisor?

Been using the egg for 10-12 years with no issues. My laptop, RAM and free mouse showed up on time and all worked perfectly as usual that I ordered about 3 weeks ago.

I paid extra for 2-3 day shipping which was like $10 bux extra but I had to leave town so I wanted to make sure it got delivered before I left.

Not sure why so many peeps seem to have issues with them.

I tried, the excuse I got was she had already spoken to her and that was that. I wrote their social media account (@NewEggService) a DM and instead of responding, they posted a tweet saying they were going home for the evening lol!

Count yourself lucky then. I avoid doing business with NewEgg because I don't like their return policy so I usually purchase everything from Amazon. Unfortunately this time around Amazon was out of stock for both the 9900K and the Gigabyte Aorus Master so I had no choice but to go with NewEgg. What's funny is they shipped the 9900k out just fine but royally screwed up with the motherboard. I wouldn't even be upset if they just agreed to overnight me the motherboard to make things right but instead they are dicking me around.

I find it amusing they shipped me an AMD card since the last thing I'd ever buy is a Radeon.

Thats pretty shitty and borderline unacceptable to make you ship the crap back first.
Good luck with it

I must be stuck in the 90's here because I think it's pretty normal for a company to want to get the stuff back first before proceeding. Overnight you something? What kind of special treatment is that? What?

Special treatment? I paid for 2 days shipping and they screwed up and sent the wrong product. I asked them for a cross ship and instead they gave me a slow fedex ground return label and said wait min 7 business days. Somehow you think that's good or normal business? Wtf.

Contrast that with Amazon who do in fact overnight items to correct their errors and don't have 1 hour wait times before speaking to customer service.

How do you propose a scientific study of normal business? Yes, cross ship is exceptional. Yes, overnight is exceptional.

Its not at all exceptional, maybe to you. Dell AW does it and so do many other businesses like EVGA. Some ask for a CC hold but that's not a big deal. They don't waste a customers time like newegg by handing a slow ground label and tell you to wait 7 business days.

Also Amazon, Newegg etc have contracts with these shipping companies so overnight doesn't cost them nearly as much as a normal customer.

Yes. Maybe to me. Only been doing IT work since 2002 (MCSA with IBM at that time) and only been ordering things off internet sites since the 90's.
If every site is Amazon this is the first I'm hearing of it. When I RMA stuff with EVGA they don't give me cross ship, much less overnight. Trust me, I know they all have contracts and shit, but like, when you just a normal ass dude you's just a normal ass dude ordering from a non-Amazon normal ass company. Especially during the holiday season when the most mistakes are made and the most shipping congestion is in place.

I remember being subscribed to Game Genie for code books in the early 90's. You had to send them the subscription in the mail. The real ass mail! Not telephone in a credit card, but like, in addition to sending a money order with your filled out with pencil subscription card, the wait time for subscription confirmation was six weeks. And then you wait for some code books. Not to mention renewal fees.
At least the once they stopped sending out code books they sent me one that had every game and every code they had at the time. Big ass book. No more subscriptions, sorry Game Genie bye bye.

Or commercials for ordering stuff, who could even conceive of this today?
Call now! Bye two get one! But you bought two? Too bad! Please allow four to six weeks for shipping and then five+ days on top of those six weeks. Only four monthly payments of a low low cost of $19.95 for qualified customers!
nini!

It's great you've been doing IT work since 2002 but that has nothing to do with this. By the same token I've been building PCs since 1994, does that matter in the least? EVGA does cross ship, they did it twice for me, all I had to do was ask and they took my CC and the card was out the next day via overnight shipping. Dell has done it many many times and at no cost to the customer either, they just ask you return the product within 2 weeks. Amazon tends to overnight items if they screw up like this. Those are all examples of companies I've dealt with who compete with NewEgg. I've even had better experiences dealing with Best Buy of all places.

The holiday season isn't an excuse, this isn't some mom and pop shop, its a billion dollar company owned by a Chinese conglomerate. You should raise your expectations of these companies rather than letting them bend you over.

P.S. Want to make a side bet with me? My bet is NewEgg will screw up this return too somehow.

"Does that matter in the least?" The relevance is I don't see how anyone could think it's normal to be treated with overnight shipping, cross shipping, or really consider it offensive they were on hold for an hour if they have more than a years experience with this kind of thing.
I was on hold last week with my water company for almost 90 minutes. Somehow it didn't offend me (or surprise me). UPS messed up my Amazon order last night. I did an RMA from my business with G.Skill this last summer, took almost a month to RMA that ram, they didn't cross ship, and they sure sent it scenic route ground back to us too. lol

But for the investment of stories sake, I am still on the edge of my seat about Newegg's return being screwed up or not. My business orders all their PC parts through Newegg Business so it's relevant somewhat.
It's just weird to me. Like my friend Jessica who talks about giving her Uber driver's 1 star ratings.

Real conversation...
J: eugh, I just had to give my Lyft driver 1 star. I'm so sick of these drivers.
PU: Oh shit. Did he like grope you or something?
J: No, it was a woman and she didn't ask me how I was when I got in the car, hardly spoke to me for the ride, and then only said to have a good day when I got out. Well you just earned yo ass a 1 star rating bitch!
PU: But...1 star ratings mean like, your driver was insane, caused an accident, sexually harassed you...something like that.
J: No, I only give out 1 star or 5 star ratings. They have to go above and beyond to get a 5 star rating like have wifi in the car. This driver didn't even have candy bars just bottled water.
PU: But drivers get delisted if they get too many 1 star ratings, you're messing with people's livelihood...
J: Well they're messing with my timely-hood!
PU: How does not saying hi mess with your time in any way? 5 star ratings on Uber simply means nothing bad happened. 4 stars mean something bad happened and 3 stars is like a fuck off...wifi wtf? Tips are for if someone went above and beyond.
J: We need to change the subject because you don't understand Uber obviously. You're not supposed to tip.

Really the world feels upside down a lot lately...I'm just gonna like the guys response about the heat sink and call it a day.

Your'e trying to imply I'm taking a millennial entitled attitude but that's far from reality given my age. In this case I view it from a market standpoint, what does NewEggs competition offer? I listed examples of far better service for relatively the same prices as NewEgg, so why would I lower my expectations with them? They aren't a mom and pop shop, they're a gigantic company that should do better and used to before the Chinese took over. It's not like they're hurting for money or are understaffed, that is just greedy on their end. The NewEgg CSR I spoke with told me she was overworked and had put in 12 hours today while sick because they didn't have enough people. Why doesn't Amazon suffer from these issues?

Well I definitely know you're not a Millennial.
Why doesn't Amazon suffer with these issues? Did you watch Patriot Act yet?

No idea what that is, some movie or tv show? Anyhow this is going OT, I don't want a mod closing this thread.

I work in e-commerce and shipping something overnight when we royally fuck up is standard practice.

You should have switched from trying to exchange the videocard for the correct motherboard to returning it all to Newegg for a refund.

Ask for advance shipment and offer your credit card on file (have to give them your credit card for pre-auth on board they send out, when they get your return back, they will cancel pre-auth).

The video card is worth $100 more than the mobo. How about I buy the card from you for the price of you just ordering a new motherboard plus I pay your shipping to me.
I get a deal and you get a new mobo in 2 days instead of a week or more!

Crap like this is unacceptable. Your Mobo should have been shipped overnight. I would have started the conversation with , I am returning both parts unless you cross ship the mobo overnight. Even if it was going to delay my build.
There are multiple horror stories about newegg. At this point its just a matter of time. They have no clue... !!! If someone tells you that the solution as described above is a special treatment. They have not dealt with amazon.
There is no room for mistakes in something as simple as this.

Did you just offer to return it for full refund? Then just go and create an entirely brand new order for the mobo?

Not much you can do once you run into a CS person who has already decided to stonewall you. Trying to do a "Can I talk to your manager" just pisses them off even more - like a waiter at a restaurant - you risk them "special ingredient-ing" your order.

Meh ive had good and bad eggs:

Bad egg:
order 2 external drives, run drive tests, massive bad clusters on both, have to eat shipping to and from the egg.

Good egg:
order gift cards cuz of check out deal. Peel code with scratch off, send pick, they screw a around for 2-3 weeks trying to disable code and re issue. During that time i got a 5-10 buck courtesy card per week till it was resolved.

I own an IT company and we spend tens of thousands of dollars on Newegg every month. We're premier members, and have to use their premier customer support occasionally. They always take care of us. We've had the occasional mis-ship, but it always ends up corrected.

Haven't spent a dime there in about 5 years. Was building a PC for a friend and they sent me a DOA hard drive. Bare drive, no retail box, dropped in a shipping box with some bubble wrap. Sent it back for an exchange and they denied it claiming the old "bent pins" bullshit. I've actually never seen a bent SATA plug... Broken yes but never bent.

I asked for at least in store credit and they denied that too. At that point I'd spent several thousand with them over several years and this was my first return. I've since spent several thousand dollars thru Amazon and will buy from Walmsrt before Newegg.

And let's not forget the Black Friday bait and switch they tried to pull with [H] several years ago, denying commissions on purchases linked from here because we were "old and not new customers".

Yeah fuck Newegg.

I agree with the op. Their mistake, they should make it right. Should have just switched to a return at that point and ordered the board.

I have also had EVGA cross ship for me on multiple occasions when they messed up (issue with GTX 580).

I have been using Newegg some recently after years of not. I'm leary about it though. I have a CPU RMA open with them and I wonder if it's even worth going through with it.

I just bought an ASUS RP-AC1200 from them, with a great deal, and no trouble whatsoever. Sorry to hear others have woes.

I did and they said they couldn’t do it because her manager wanted to find out why a video card was sent out and not repeat the mistake again. Just sounded like BS to get me off the phone.

Sure they just charge you a restocking fee and you're out the shipping costs for their fuck up.

I stopped using them when they sent me a 2 generation old refurbished Sapphire Radeon Video Card instead of the OG Titan I ordered.

Trust me after this I won't spend a dime there ever again.

I don't think it's outside of the realm of expectation to have the correct item sent immediately. Since OP identified the product they had received in error, if they never sent it back then NewEgg could just charge OP for the item they never returned. Simple. Amazon's policy is more close to this and once the incorrect item is in shipped status the refund (if any is needed) is issued.

I've had multiple RMAs work where they have no issue sending me the replacements in advance so I can have a running system. I've never had problems with NewEgg to speak of, but you're not the first to express frustration with their return/RMA policies as they are now.

That being said, I did have an issue with Amazon where I bought a water cooler, said it shipped and set to be delivered on a specific day (had everything ready to go) and then my order was canceled. Turns out they inventoried wrong and the item never existed for my order -- I have no idea how the shipping labels gets created and shipped but that's another story. I got apologies but no concessions, had to buy it from NewEgg and pay extra for shipping so I could have it in time for a LAN.

Well, I had to submit an RMA on a non delivered item (since they dont allocate for this reason). Come to find out, it was my stupid mistake, and I had ordered 2 mouses and one came in the other one came in yesterday with the product I didnt think arrived... I didnt notice that it said shipment received at my house yesterday.. So, sometimes customers screw up too... I have recently ordered alot of products from Newegg. The only thing that is pissing me off with Newegg is the non NewEgg suppliers taking a tad longer and some of the places are Chinese locations that I never notice at checkout...

At least the Egg sent you a nice video card by mistake, instead of a nicely shrink wrapped block of wood or bag of gravel like Amazon tends to do. ;)

I've used them off and on for over a fifteen years. I've never had an issue until this year. Ordered a new case for the wife that had a tempered glass side panel. As you can imagine, the glass was shattered when it arrived. I'm sure this was due to shipping. I contacted them via Chat and got an RMA # almost instantly. Sent it back and 2nd one came in perfectly fine.

Things happen. It's how the blunders are handled after the fact that matters.

I agree, its how they handle it that matters. I'm not too upset about receiving the wrong item but I am upset that they didn't even allow me to use advanced rma (cross shipping) even with my CC on file. That's just pretty shit of them to have me wait 7+ business days for an item I should have already had.

LOL yeah I mean I wouldn't be too angry if they had sent me a 2080 Ti or something :) But I have a Titan X Pascal so the RX 580 would've been a downgrade.

FedEx is delivering the RX 580 back to NewEgg on Monday so lets see if they promptly ship out a replacement motherboard or give me the run around.

Also, FedEx at one point had a shipping exception and replaced the bar code on the package, does that affect NewEgg RMAs since they could have potentially removed the RMA# on the original label?
