While Bethesda’s official policy is that digital codes “cannot be returned under any circumstance,” an increasing number of fans who were left unamused by the company’s newest Fallout effort claim they managed to get refunds for the online title. PCWorld called Fallout 76 “almost hell” and said it was “worse than we ever thought it could be.” The game has a 55 on Metacritic.

Some are worried that Bethesda may reverse course if too many refund requests are made. “Incoming mass refund requests. Eventually they’ll mass reject them. Incoming massive backlash,” one user noted. Now, keep in mind this is just for the PC version. Since Fallout 76 is sold on both Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Store, Bethesda isn’t able to offer a refund on those versions.

I say there should be no refunds. People where optimistic about this game now let them be optimistic about receiving a refund. Bethesda needs to stack that cold hard cash to the ceiling and laugh all the way to the bank.

My favorite part of bethesda games are the mods. Big, bouncy tits in Skyrim was fun and stupid. Not allowing that kills this game. You KNOW the mods make the game Bethesda. They fix it. Make it better. All y'all do is supply a base game to build upon. Dumbass move guys. Reap it.

People had warning and a beta... a few betas. If you bought this game after you played the beta and expected any major changes between the beta and release, you deserve to donate your money.

Honestly, I've never liked Bethesda's style. I haven't really enjoyed one of their games since Oblivion. However, unlike most people I only put the basic 40 hours into it to finish the main story and I was done with it. I used some mods but that didn't carry me too much beyond the original 40 hours. I think the Bethesda games are lacking in polish and technical execution. I always hated how you "interacted" with the environment with an invisible body. The menus have always been shit. Story telling isn't done in a particularly compelling way, etc.

I really enjoy the fallout line, but this one can definitely wait. I'm in no rush. I'll gamble at $10 or so. At this rate, it'll be there soon.

I agree with everything you said. The sad part is, that regardless of that they''re still the best first person RPGs available to play.

They bought their tickets, they knew what they were getting into...I say no refunds.

Actually unless you were invited to the private beta for the media the only way an average Joe was able to get in on the beta was to pre-order the game.

Can we get the cliff notes on what is wrong with the game for those that haven't followed it closely?

no story, buggy as shit, bad design choices, super limited base inventory, bugged inventory, bugs bugs bugs bugs.

Oh yeah, and no mods.

Generally I would argue that "anyone who installs content-adding mods to the game before playing through it considerably, is going to complain about whatever game they purchase"... However, given there's apparently no appricable story TO play through, that would indeed make for some benefit to those kinds of mods right now.

At the same time, Bethesda HAS said they do fully plan on mod support, it'll just be awhile out yet, being an aspect of the "Private Servers" that you'll be able to set up.

Currently though, there are some mods, they just aren't going to be adding much to the game.
Think of it as currently being limited to the sort of things the PS4 was/is when it came to FO4 mods: can only change what's currently there, otherwise it won't be allowed. (Just in this instance, it IS possible to "add" stuff, but it'll result in a ban from the servers, so... would be best advised that if you do run mods, they be nothing that major)

I still will not pay full price for an id game. I got Doom for $10 and am pleased. I'm also pleased I paid full price and preordered Fallout 76. A truly wonderful game, like nothing I've seen before. The ability of the game to generate seriously fun events as you move around the map is unparalleled in my experience which is wide, and goes back 24 years.

YMMV ;)

Must not have played ANY mulitplayer games in the past 24 years. lol. There's absolutely nothing in the multiplayer that hasn't been done in the past 24 years that is new or improved upon.

I played Q3 seriously for quite a while. After that MP was sorta blah for me. Its kinda the perfect MP game. I played MP Quake for some time before that and if I was gonna play MP it would be Quake Champions or something like that.

I have played a lot of SP games as well and Stalker is probably still my favorite.

Fallout 76 does not fit into any categories as its new. Certainly Q3 MP is far superior to Fallout MP but that's not at all the point. Fallout 76 is a MP RPG with Coop and PvP and does a vast amount more in the game. It tracks everything and although we have bugs its working, it really is.

We still play Q3 with bots at full difficulty.

Catholic Schoolgirl still kicks most people's ass. :)

I saw an Ad last night during the Matrix something on TV, and there was a chick spinning in a circle shooting two machineguns, and no one around her even paid attention, lol.

Well, I feel sorry for the people that ignored all the writing on the wall up until release day.

It was never going into my game inventory, because Fallout should never be online, IMO.

Take Fallout 4, strip away every dialogue tree and leave only computer terminals and notes on bodies. You choose your character, pick a name, leave the vault and........start finding terminals and notes on bodies. Congrats, you've reached the endgame.

You can play with a max of 20 other human beings on a map that is supposedly 3 times larger tha F4's, and you always know where they are so forget about stumbling upon other people.

If you value immersion in your game, it can be a drag trying to complete one of those canned quests....only to find 3 other people using the same terminal in the same spooky location because they're on the same quest, but you're all playing separately. Or you can team up and share the experience gained from killing hoards of enemies.

Oh yeah, no time-slowing VATS...its just real-time autoaim now, which sort of makes the game just a really bad FPS....because Fallout judged as an FPS is sort back in the early 2000's in terms of how rudimentary the gunplay "look and feel" is, for those of us playing the RPG game and using Vats most of the time it's sort of a dealbreaker.

I think that covers the big hits...

Its possibe basing your choices on graffiti may not be ideal. ;) Its been shown the rating of people who have played the game, is far higher than the echo chamber that writes on your wall.

I'm not surprised by this move and I am one of the recipients of a Fallout 76 refund. Despite being BETA, there is no damn way it should have had that many bugs in the game. None whatsoever. Especially physics linked to refresh rate. That should have been resolved many years ago. Instead, they chose to wait to fix the issue and it is part of the reason why they are having to offer refunds to PC users.

that's just the bethesda fanbois. Its a pretty shit game, seriously worse than FO4 in every regard with shit tons of bugs on top.

Rust, Ark, the forest, 7d2d and others.

This fallout is nothing new, Bethesda just wanted to jump onto the bandwagon.

You have played it? The people who are playing it largely love it and that's starting to show above the noise. How that makes you a fanboi escapes me.

Jesus those are horrible games. I have a quite few games in my rather large Steam library and I have made mistakes, but not those ones.
