Bone stock reference blower model Vega 64 on the Egg for $399 (100 less than MSRP) haven’t seen it lower anywhere else even with Black Friday deals. Throw in the 3 game bundle (The Division 2, Resident Evil 2, Devil May Cry 5) seems good to me.

I jumped on it earlier today. Glad I waited on Vega 56. Also jumped on a Sammy Freesync2 monitor. Going balls deep on this AMD thing. Au Revior 290x.

Thinking bout upgrading to Vega 64. What is the story with "blower cards" , are they really much louder than other models?

Yeah they’re louder. I don’t have a lot of experience with them but the little I do plus everything I’ve read, they’re loud when they hit high fan speeds.

However they do have the advantage of being a blower, and actually exhausting the heat from the case.

Personally I don’t care about the noise. I play loud.

So got my card.. undervolt -100 and have a 1640/1100 core/mem clocks going on.. the fan curve is pretty loud.. Not sure if I can tolerate it, even though I tweaked it to around 77-79C degrees on load... The ref cards are for sure loud though... Headphone gaming it is for a while I suppose..

For those who already have the card and wish to have lower temps and noise, raijintek has there aftermarket morpheus-vega heatsink assembly (case king link)(OCUK link)

It has a seperate SKU than their older morpheus ii which provides better HBM coverage I believe specifically for Vega cards. This version seems a bit hard to track down, but I did find it on case king and OCUK as linked above.

I recently jumped on the Vega 64 as well (a week ago, Newegg also had the price at $400). It runs very loud, and I am waiting for the Morpheus II Vega to be shipped to vendors. As of now, only a few sites have reviewed it and I can't find any vendors with it in stock.

I sent an email to their Los Angeles branch, asking for permission to test and review the Vega edition for my RX Vega 64. Not expecting a reply though.

Unless you want your PC to sound like a Harrier Jump Jet taking off when you're gaming. Don't get one.

Still quieter than the r9 290X blowers. Not complaining after I had one of those for 4+ years, at 80% fan speed...

stock balanced profile is far from what you are describing. So you are ill-informed when you say that it sounds like a jet engine. Is it loud? Yes! But i doubt everyone is gaming with no sound whether its speakers or headsets.

Who's gonna run it on stock with a balanced profile? Nobody. Headsets, yep, you're gonna need one, preferably noise canceling.

you prove my point. If you are pushing it you already know its going to be loud. So yea at that point you can't blame the cooler. No one should be buying this card to run it beyond its means if they want to push it they better know how to tweak it and undervolt it.

Then please, by all means, educate me on how to run this card cool and quiet. I was also thinking about getting this card.

If you are okay with little above stock performance. Then you can easily reduce it by 10c or so. Just put then p6 and p7 1450 and 1500. And reduce the p6 and p7 volts to 1000mv and 1050mv and Volts next to hbm change the 1000. That will be the floor voltage.

It should average around 1450 and use much less power. If you see it throttle increase power by like +10%.

Each GPU is different and average may vary. Try it out and do some stress test with 3dmark loop for fire strike extreme. Firestrike extreme will like give you higher temps than games from what I saw.

if you want higher clocks you can leave the p6 and p7 clocks at stock and use similar Volts icrease the power to +50%.

Now each GPU might require tweaking voltages. But on mine I was able to get 1500+ core at 1025mv with 50% power. But honestly I think keeping the clocks around 1450 can get you much better results if you can tweak it. I have a lot of people on line reddit/forum that have been able to get better than stock performance at much lower watts and temps.

Yeah. My whole plan with this blower is to undervolt it and basically run stock or with a light OC.

Noise doesn’t bother me. High temps do to an extent.

I'm going to make a bracket for my accelero III lol. Ghetto V64 ftw, will match up nicely with my retro rev1 Scythe Ninja 939 > 1151 mod.
