MSI RTX2080Ti Sea Hawk (hybrid) listed on the 'Egg!

Too bad it has the standard blower type fan on the card. I wished it had a fan like the one on the evga hybrids.

Why?

It runs silently on my 1080Ti Sea Hawk, as it doesn't have to push much air- and what heat it does push gets pushed straight out.

[And I thought the EVGA ones were exactly the same- they're all made by Corsair IIRC]
 
I hate the tubing on it, those things were on the original Corsair AIO's and were a pain to deal with, I would think we could do better, especially at this price point.
 
To me I just don't see the point of Nvidia Hybrid cards.

1. Nvidia locks down voltages resulting in AIO graphics cards being about as good as a quality AIB air cooled card.

2. People who buy such cards are more likely to upgrade at a quicker cadence which makes the extra longevity of running at lower temperatures kind of pointless.

3. If you buy them for quieter acoustics, I would argue a quality 3 slot card would be comparable in acoustic performance. If you really cared about acoustics why not just grab a Morpheus or Arctic Accelero after market cooler (with extra vrm heatainks and quiet noctua fans)

Don't get me wrong, they are awesome cards. I just think they have a lot of wasted potential.

They would be better suited on cards that can actually use that extra thermal headroom for overvolting etc..

Basically lower noise and/or less throttling without killing the warranty. If you want to go hardcore you go full water block.

I do agree hybrids are usually more locked down than I would care for... but realize AIOs generally are made for 50-60C fluid AFAIK. Can’t go too crazy with a single rad...

I do agree with you, the high end air coolers really are great these days. I am in a situation where reference cooling is lacking (80-85c in game) so the ability to slap a hybrid kit on is great.

Given the opportunity to just buy a card with a sweet cooler I probably would have done so.

This.

Essentially, they run in the top tier of overclocks [err, 'boost' clocks] with no throttling under load and very little to no noise. Out of the box.

Now, I picked up my 1080Ti Sea Hawk when they were on sale for US$700- not in a hurry to spend twice that for +30% performance personally. Topic was created because this was the first I'd seen of the new cards, and I'd like to grab one at some point myself.

EVGA ones have what looks to me like a fan from a two or three fan card that blows down on the PCB, not across it like a blower.

I think this is a case by case thing regarding acoustics. The Gigabyte 970s I had were very silent with stock cooler, the same 980 Ti version was loud as a jet engine. Meanwhile MSI 980 Ti was pretty quiet with stock cooler but not silent like the AIO cooler I slapped on it.

For me using an AIO was about acoustics mostly as the GPU was the loudest thing in my machine while at the same time it allowed for some temp throttling free overclocking. Even if the clocks could not get much higher than using an air cooler, it was more stable at those clocks. I still have the cooler and would like to use it on my next card because then I don't have to spend extra on a model with a fancier cooler and could hopefully get similar results out of a cheaper reference model for example.

It does suck that these hybrid cards don't also have higher power limit settings etc.
 
I am currently using the MSI 1080 Ti Seahawk X that I purchased from Newegg for $871.97 back in April of 2017. I am using a Alienware AW3418DW (3440X1440) and the GPU performs great.

I am always thinking about upgrading and I was looking forward to the MSI 2080 Ti Seahawk but at the current price of $1,499 (even at $1399) as of today and it is out of stock I think I will pass.
