Command & Conquer Remastered

given how they handled C&C 4 and the fact that my account is still banned for reporting a bug during alpha testing i agree, i have zero trust in EA not putting their nose where it doesn't belong and screwing this up.

Jesus, they are digging up Westwood's body to piss all over it some more. I am a huge fan of CnC, (up until RA3), I want more CnC, but I think they are just going to fuck this up. If they can do what the AoE2HD remaster did, where they literally just updated graphics and the multiplayer experience, that would be cool. But we all know that this is EA, and there will be female soldiers that sling their used tampons like grenades and you have to buy a lootbox to unlock actual guns for the men.

Wait, how can you not like RA3? That game was great :D. Good music, campy videos, and fun gameplay. Now C&C 4 on the other hand :p:p:p

I pre-ordered RA3, installed it, fired it up, found out they completely changed game mechanics, I can't remember exactly, but I think it was how you got money, closed it, and uninstalled. I haven't tried it since. I seem to remember myself thinking, wtf, this isn't CnC....

My biggest complaint was that After RA2 & Tiberium Sun* that they changed from sprites to 3D models & a closer camera. It felt very claustrophobic & the gameplay just wasn't the same.

I didn't mind it 3d and I thought you could zoom out to "normal" its been a while. I played the generals series a lot and spent many weekends LANing it and RA2.

Here's what I want, in order:

1. Emperor: Battle for Dune
2. C&C RA2 /w Yuri's Revenge
3. whatever you guys want

Ya, the low camera started in Generals. There was a mod to increase the camera height. Made it light years betters.

RA2 Yuri's Revenge was probably the best out of the series. It's the only one I actually made a few maps for. Generals was up there, but they killed it with the maps. Some of the maps caused ridiculous lag and desyncs. There were only a couple of maps that were able to be played multiplayer to completion.

I LOVED the C&C series! I have so many fond memories of using dialup to play with my fellow PC gamer friends in my youth. It would be amazing if they did a group up new C&C game.

I like how they have to reaffirm the "no microtransactions." Reminds of wife beaters saying, "Baby, come home. Maybe we can try this marriage thing without the punching?"

I bought a Megadrive to be able to play Dune II a long ass time ago, played the hell out of that game.

I want Red Alert and Red Alert II re-done. That is all.

Matter of fact, I still play Red Alert and Aftermath weekly/monthly. Been playing it online with a friend lately, too, instead of just against the AI. The community has done a great job keeping the original game running and installing on new OS's, and keeping the multiplayer functionality going.

So many of them were fantastic. I've been searching for games that recreate the C&C world / feel and have not been able to find any. I loved building bases with Nod Obelisks...cranking out Mammoth tanks and flame tanks, remember the commando that was so OP and would run around blowing shit up? lol man those were the days.

It was shit. By far the worst installment of C&C until tiberian twilight.
Naw. I think I enjoyed that one the most. Mind you, the only way I played these games were skirmishes and with friends over dialup. I can't speak on the campaigns.

And the incredible music, the FMV cutscenes.. I dunno, I think it's just one of those things that came and went in videogame history and you were either there and experienced it, or didn't. Don't see it ever repeating in quite the same way.

I would definitely love a modern reboot on a modern 3D engine though. But the problem is MMO RTS games like DOTA and League of Legends have sucked all the oxygen out of this space - there doesn't seem any room left for a 1v1 RTS from a ROI standpoint for a publisher big enough to do a reboot justice.

I like strategy games with a single-player campaign, developer emphasis on good writing, and a challenge without obvious AI cheats. I have no interest in MOBAs at all and they may as well not exist as far as my decision making process goes when buying a new game. I'm sure the majority likes the adrenaline rush of multiplayer RTS but when I want to play against real people I much prefer first-person/single character games like War Thunder or MMORPGs. Currently for strategy I play single-player HOI4 and Stellaris which run at a slower pace than multiplayer RTS but with a much longer (typical) game.

You really can't assume you know the whole market because there are people like me that are interested in this for a modern UI and greater immersion potential. The deciding factor here for me often comes down to how willing are the developers to improve the game versus just make the same thing flashier? I always see developers cave into peer pressure from those who don't want a damn thing to change, they just want the same game with widescreen and/or multimonitor support.

That said, I like the atmosphere of the Dune series over C&C, which gameplay wise I enjoyed but the story wasn't exactly my thing. I would love a combo remake of Dune II/2000 but with the gameplay improvements of Emperor. If possible, with one huge campaign that spans the time periods of both games and has branching storylines for replayability. There's so many advances modern RTS have that Dune could benefit from in a total remake versus a "faithful" remake. There's group AI like in Ashes of the Singularity so the units try to act based on role even on the move. Secondary and tertiary weapons for the highest tier units with independent targeting. Who the hell wouldn't want to see a Harkonnen Devastator laying the smackdown on multiple enemies at once with different weapon types then exploding into a small mushroom cloud that uses physics to throw light units across the map? I could go on and on but it wouldn't matter a damn bit because so many of the old gamers refuse to let their nostalgia be interrupted.

People can hate on this film all day....

But I think it's one or two quibbles away from fantastic!

(that SciFy mini-series on the other hand.. COMPLETE garbage)

Rts gaming is pretty much dead....besides what Blizzard puts out. It's sad bc rts was my favorite style of games. I miss the total anhilation supreme commander style the most!

Well, even Blizz is dead. Activision slowly took over.

I thought they are Billions was the new hype in the rts genre.

Billions is a ton of fun. But it's a very different type of RTS. Survival RTS I guess you could call it? I would not put it in the same genre as CnC.

I got it in the last steam sale, have yet to try it out.

Also did Gearbox not bring out something not that long ago, homeworld I think it was.
