Battlefield V

Well no shit. They're turning BF into a service. People whined about Premium/Seasons passes and whatnot, and people who didn't want silly customization were "on the wrong side of history". Whatever fad takes hold in the next 6-12 months will shape BFV. The game you get today may be entirely different a year from now. They're scrape to the bottom of the barrel to milk a few cents out of it. This is immeasurably worse than paying a little more for a lot of content that is designed around the game. But that is the state of modern multiplayer gaming sadly.

Eh, I paid $100 for the BF1 premium version with DLC's and regret it. I could have just paid $99 for the year and had the full game + every other game in the Origin pass which is quite a few games. For $99 a year it's not a bad deal, or pay $15 for a couple months and when you get tired of the game just cancel your subscription.

Anyone know how long you can play with Premier? Or is it over this weekend?

As long as you pay the $15 per month or fork over the $99 per year. You're basically renting the game as a service and not buying a license for the game as you normally would like BF4 and BF1.

I'm really trying to like this game but my old eyes are having a hard time seeing the opposing force.

How was the beta "casual"? TTK in the game is pretty quick.
Well in the beta it felt like all they cared about WAS TTK - like they balanced weapons by tweaking the damage per second, not by tweaking the handling and recoil. It shouldn't take 3-4 rounds of .303 British from a bren gun to kill someone, it also shouldn't be possible to have any kind of accurate fire shooting offhand, and you really shouldn't be able to sprint as fast or as far as someone with a gun that weighs half as much as your 20+ pound LMG. Instead they tweak the DPS to make it roughly equivalent to an assault rifle... THAT's what I consider casual - no thought required into HOW you should use a class to support your team, just which gun kills faster. And in the beta it felt a lot like BF1 - a lot of lone-wolf types and no real teamwork.

OMG ROFL tanks in BFV are a freaking JOKE. Besides the slow turret speed and limited ammo, you shoot at someones feet and it does ZERO damage to them LOL. And the tank machine gun is so pathetic, bullets spray everywhere besides where you are aiming. You literally have to shoot someone in the FACE with a tank round to kill them.

As a long time BF tank player, this game is pathetic.

I actually would've liked to see more Armored Warfare / War Thunder like tank mechanics in a BF game. Not 100% like those games, but I'd like to see armor or ammo types work more like that. A sabot with no explosives for anti tank, an HE for infantry that is kind of useless against tanks. Maybe that is what they did in BFV? Can you select different ammo types? I know you could in BF4 but all types worked decently against infantry. I don't recall much of the tank gameplay from the beta, but the machine gun was pretty effective for me.

Ya they nurfed armored combat so bad it's pointless. In a tank, you basically have the power of one infantry dude.

Uh. Ok. I do pretty well in the tanks. You do better with supporting infantry and can go down quick if you are shot in the rear. Otherwise, pretty balanced. I mow people down with the machine gun. I have seen Imbalance tank vs tank. I unloaded on a panzer with a valentine but lost. I hit at least 8 times to his front and got shot 3 in the front myself. Nobody behind me or taking shots that I saw otherwise. Oh. I don't bother using the main shells on infy. Unless I am taking a structure down on them. The tanks are useful. You just have to think about it a bit more.

In BF1 conquest if you spectated the guys on the scoreboard who had scores like 80-1, 90-2, 85-0 etc - they were almost always camping on a hill hundreds of meters away in a tank, blindly firing rounds into the air. They would do this for the entire game - there was no skill, strategy or aiming involved, just parking the tank on a hill far away from everyone else and shooting the sky. 100 times worse than the noob tubes from the old days of CoD. (at least the CoD maps had enough cover for infantry to work their way towards the tuber to eliminate him)

The tanks in BF1 were pretty much auto-load sniper rifles with insta-gib explosive rounds with massive AoE. Not fun to play against at all, (they might have been more balanced in other modes, I only played conquest). I remember a lot of complaints about it back in the day, not surprised to hear there were 'tweaks'.

Yea not sure about the complaning about tanks. They are still very powerful, just not as OP as they use to be which is a good thing. And the turret speed is fine with me. It always looked silly watching a turret move as fast as someone could move it. Either way Tanks are still very powerful.

I literally have tens of thousands of kills playing armor in BF series and this is what I am seeing in BFV tanks:

1. They move extremely slow.
2. The turrets turn extremely slow, even more so in 1st person. Killing infantry around your tank is almost impossible, meaning you are forced to use it as a stand-off weapon.
3. You can't reliably use third person tank reticle as it doesn't line up with the 1st person in-tank view. So you constantly have to bounce between third person (to have any type of situational awareness at all) to 1st person in-tank to actually shoot something.
4. Main gun tank rounds almost do nothing to infantry. You may as well be shooting confetti at them. Main tank gun only seems to be worthwhile versus other vehicles and some buildings. You have to basically use the machine gun exclusively to kill people, and it's not even that powerful in that regard. Has lower TTK than some infantry machine guns.
5. Tanks take extreme damage from about everything infantry lob at you besides small arms fire.
6. Limited ammo is a bit silly. Less ammo in a GAME than a tank would carry in real life.
7. Ridiculously restrictive main gun elevation, making shooting up at aircraft or down into valleys arduous.

A MASSIVE departure from armor play in earlier BF games like BF3. Basically; tanks in BF5 are slow moving machine-gun platforms with a main gun only used to kill other tanks. But if main tank guns can't be used for anything else besides killing other tanks, you basically are worthless and there to nullify other tanks so that they don't shoot infantry with their slow moving machine-gun platform. Very linear and boring game-play. I cannot believe they made tanks even worse than BF1, I didn't think that would be possible.

This game will have low-replay-ability and server will be dead come spring. DICE continues to close the skill gap with gimmicks to appease noobs. Glad I only wasted $15 on it.

Anyone having any issues with the BF-V download? Mine looks like this and has been stuck for the last hour. I purchased the early access just so I could jump in and play since I have off the next two weeks for vacation. I've uninstalled Origin and even tried the beta version with no sucess.

EDIT: I wait around 10 minutes and Origin just quits. WTF? First time this has happened to me. Both the other two services are gone from the details in the task manager.

You have to get a few upgrades. They get better. I outfitted my light tanks with an anti infantry cannon and it shreds infantry apart, and I also got an upgrade that lines your tank with explosives so if enemy infantry try to swarm you you pop that thing and it kills everyone 10 feet around you.

Armor is powerful enough IMO once you get a fully upgraded vehicle depending on whatever situation you are upgrading it for. Although I will generally say the big slow moving armor like the Churchill/tiger tank could use a buff against infantry based AT weapons given how easy they are to hit. I'll also broadly agree that HE tank rounds don't do enough splash damage to infantry right now. There needs to be a reason to use HE over AP - And right now there isn't.

Ya I'll try it some more.

Exactly! I think the tanks are fine. You can still be effective, you just can't drive around the map like you are invincible. I always thought it was silly in BF1 how tanks were almost god mode. Turret speed is realistic, driving speed is realistic to the period. You need to be smart in armor.

The other thing people miss is that if you have a support dude repairing you.. You're gonna last a long time.

Went to buy this on PS4 over the weekend, met with the news I would have to wait until the 20th to play it, unless I bought the Deluxe version to play 5 days earlier. Or if I had an XBox I could play it already with a subscription...

Well I guess their plan didn’t work because I’m just not buying it now.

Shrug. I can understand Vega. I am more infantry focused. That part of the game is fun. I had some great firefights with my squad last night. This game is going to be a love it or hate it.

This game is a huge improvement over BF1, and I personally enjoy it more than BF3/BF4. I think they're moving in the right direction. If they put some larger maps and stop catering to the COD bros this game will be pretty decent.

Game deleted. That is one of the worst games I've ever played.

Huh? How is that possible? Are you not an FPS fan? To me it's one of the best I've ever played. Maybe it's that input lag because you're using a TV as your monitor.

Because tanks?!

Couldnt stand the squids in BF1 that sat in a vehicle all game, run the scoreboard, yet the second they get out the tank they cant shoot someone standing still..

Im pretty impressed with what ive played this weekend, feels like a kick in the right direction that the BF series needed.

I just played a match where I was driving around in a flak panzer just hammering everyone. Not sure how folks could claim tanks are underpowered in this game. You have to just play smart.

getting pretty fucking tired of it not loading the next map. I've played 3 matches and I've had to force quit twice
