Warcraft 3 Reforged

I always thought they kind of did with the WoW expansion Wrath of the Lich King. I really liked that one.

They might have, but I don't play WoW or any MMOs for that matter. I am sure there are other RTS fans apart from me that feel somewhat neglected by Blizzard not having released an RTS sequel.

Ah excited for this. W3 was the best fantasy rts ever. Hope they don't butcher it. I could never go back to w3 or frozen throne bc the graphics just looked to dated. I never actually played thru the campaign then again I never did for sc2 either lol would love to get wc4 but this is better than nothing at all. I read somewhere that they are actually using an overhauled wc3 engine and not sc2 engine is this true? In terms of graphics will it look better than sc2 or on par? I kinda wish they woulda gave it a darker tone like sc2 and less colorful like the original

The revamped character models look great. Wish they could do more with the ugly terrain textures though, they made a big deal in the trailer about the character models and then basically skipped over the part about the other textures.

I personally am not a fan with what they did. Character models look pretty good, but I feel like the cartoony feel of the buildings hasn't aged as well, especially in contrast to how much work they put into the character models.
Could just be me, but I find the neon blues and greens to be hard to stare at.

UnknownSouljer: that's exactly what I was thinking. They should have fixed the colors to make it more dark and gritty

Good points, but the date says 'by Dec31's 2019' so you may just be seeing early builds. But who knows? Anyway, i see the point where folks are like they want something new. For me, its like opening up and old favorite book

I noticed the 2019 date. But I think to myself: it must be a typo. I mean, I could be wrong, but why bother to tell people about it two Blizzcons away? Announcing it and then making people wait a year and two months is a good way to deflate interest. Secondly, they're allowing preorders already. Which is also very not-typical for a game launching over a year out.

Im guessing with a revamped engine shit tons of stress test betas will need to roll out if they are going to mimic some of the 4 v 4 battles they would need to announce early...

Yep, I got excited for a couple minutes until I got down to the bottom and saw "Releasing on or before December 31, 2019. Wait, and you want me to pre-order now? GTFO.

Yeah I will most likely get it, was there anything announced about Vanilla WOW?

It just means they don't have a release date, yet. They just know they want to release it some time next year.

Since it runs on the original War3 backend, I hope it doesn't have the ludicrous single-thread cpu demand that SC2 does....

Understood, but with Blizzard, that date might actually be accurate. I won't be giving them any money until they have a better handle on it.

Reading this again- why would the older engine be less single-thread dependent?

It's less about whether it's single threaded or not, because the difference is the SC2 engine HAMMERS one thread on any cpu out today.

While the War3 engine/backend handles everything on one thread and any chip out today can just annihilate it etc.

So we're hoping that they didn't update the engine then?

They said the backbone is still the War3 engine....

They can throw better graphics at me all day, that's cool. Hell, I encourage it!

As long as the "behind the scenes" stuff is still calculated in the same, old-school fashion via the engine.

(meaning the primary thread won't get gang-raped like in SC2)

I hope that makes sense....

Downloaded the game but apparently they are having authentication issues that prevent you from playing the game. Just an FYI.. Hope they get it fixed soon.

Played a round of 1v1 + a couple skirmish-start/tests..

Seems nice enough even though Campaign mode doesn't function atm lol

The antialiasing at 1080p is turrible... 4k DSR is almost mandatory :(

They need a resolution scale option like so many games these days....

Not only did they total fuck up Reforged but they screwed us all over with the mandatory patch for the classic WCIII. I have now lost all hope for Diablo 4

With all the Diablo mobile and other bs Blizzard has been doing the past couple of year you shouldn't had any hope to begin with.
