i9-9900k worth upgrade from a i7-8700k?

I currently have the 8700k, and was curious if its worth the upgrade to the i9? If I sell the i7 it will only be around $200 or so difference. Thoughts?

Beyond that, your motherboard and/or cooling may not be up to snuff. It is very possible that you will end up with lower freqs on the 9900k meaning lower fps for most games in 1080p/1440p.

No offense, but you were probably the only person on this forum that expected the 9900k to be faster at high res gaming.

Still, it would be nice to see some large multiplayer performance. Yes it is hard to control variables, but having one test included could really show the advantages of more cores.
 
I Game & have 8086 rig in sig. No reason to upgrade and not feeling the bug at all at this time. Will skip this gen.

if it's only ~$200 difference then why not...otherwise wait for Zen 2 and see what it brings to the table...

That's kind of why I was wanting it. I compile a lot of videos and it would help with that. I do game some, but not very often.

Well, I have the NZXT Kraken X62 AIO cooler. Do you think that is enough? I won't be overclocking, and that is why this appeals to me, so it has great performance without OC.

For the price, it is definitely a great idea. Figured, tried to get it before it won't be sold any more and then I get mad at myself for not doing it. lol

It should be fine if you are not doing any overclocking or have any MCE on, the only exception I can see where it might be too much for your AIO cooler is AVX workload.

+1 If I only cared about gaming I would be on the 8700k or even the 2700x but I want the extra performance for other apps I use that the 9900k gives me.

If this is your plan, then why buy a K processor? Why do you have a K processor now?
In another 6 months you can buy a non-K for less money and less heat.

I am going to attempt it. But a lot of times, I am usually unsuccessful.
