I currently have the 8700k, and was curious if its worth the upgrade to the i9? If I sell the i7 it will only be around $200 or so difference. Thoughts?
I was thinking the same thing, but I cancelled my 9900K pre-order after reading this review:

In gaming (especially higher res) there was little to no benefit.
Hmm I say if you need the extra core and thread for productivity work, I say sure, but if all you game, probably not.
Beyond that, your motherboard and/or cooling may not be up to snuff. It is very possible that you will end up with lower freqs on the 9900k meaning lower fps for most games in 1080p/1440p.
if it's only ~$200 difference then why not...otherwise wait for Zen 2 and see what it brings to the table...
Well, I have the NZXT Kraken X62 AIO cooler. Do you think that is enough? I won't be overclocking, and that is why this appeals to me, so it has great performance without OC.
+1 If I only cared about gaming I would be on the 8700k or even the 2700x but I want the extra performance for other apps I use that the 9900k gives me.Hmm I say if you need the extra core and thread for productivity work, I say sure, but if all you game, probably not.
Indeed, if you want the absolute best without going to HEDT territory, 9900K is great.+1 If I only cared about gaming I would be on the 8700k or even the 2700x but I want the extra performance for other apps I use that the 9900k gives me.
Just buy it. Wait, sorry, wrong forum.I currently have the 8700k, and was curious if its worth the upgrade to the i9? If I sell the i7 it will only be around $200 or so difference. Thoughts?
If this is your plan, then why buy a K processor? Why do you have a K processor now?I won't be overclocking

In another 6 months you can buy a non-K for less money and less heat.
Wow! That much have taken them forever to bench so many apps. Feeling good about sticking with my 8700K.Anandtech bench scores between the 8700K v. 9900K.
Since when has high res gaming not been GPU limited? Anyway, we fully and directly discussed this in our review.I was thinking the same thing, but I cancelled my 9900K pre-order after reading this review:
