I'm guessing an IRQ or Warp error?
Was a "driver" error. Saw it, when to grab my phone to take a pic, and by the time I got back in the office it has rebooted, so I am not sure exactly what it said, but it was one that I have never seen before.

Guess I could always look eh? Driver Power State Failure. Never seen that before on this machine, ever.

Kyle's edit: Don't MAKE us go there, please. It is simply a rewrite of Digital Trends story....with the addition below. "Nothing to see here!"

Nvidia's Response

Nvidia, for its part, has treated these complaints like business as usual. The company told us that "it's not an increasing number of users" affected by this problem, saying "it's not broad." It added that "we are working with each user individually like we do always."

This is a product launch, and like other product launches, it's no surprise that it got a little messy. At least Nvidia appears to be standing by.

So a water cooled card should be good then.

Assuming that the issue is actually the RAM and the heat, and assuming that your block cooled the RAM, probably yes.

I have this 2080 Ti FE still on my test bench here. I am going to play around with overclocking it a bit more before I tear it down to put it under water so I have some solid data.

I haven't seen any noteworthy news about anything but the 2080ti. And honestly, it's mostly just the FE version.
That would make sense seeing as the 2080's are the first set of cards manufactured, are the highest clocked, and have the most enabled sections on the chip. More things could go wrong. With the few questions in this thread about the serial numbers, it sounds like a board revision or a re-spin may have fixed some problems.

That being said, I didn't want to discount any possibility it could happen with the 2070's too. I'm hoping to pick one up in next few weeks.

This is the only issue I have, but I have an FE and Zotac TI in SLI with waterblocks. The only issue I have is that VLC issue that seventyfive is having

I have no issues, but am nervous reading about all this. Like worried card is going to go all samsung on me. XD

Gut feeling that some bad GDDR6 are floating around out there, hopefully it is just a bad batch that can be identified. Could be from one GDDR6 vendor too. This doesn’t smell will a heat issue really.

If that is the case, it will be a Micron issue since I believe they are supplying GDDR6 for RTX line while Samsung are supplying GDDR6 for the Quadro line.

Also, wasn't there a memory issue last time during the Pascal release and wasn't it also a Micron issue?

That article confirms my suspicion that the 124% power limit for that cooler design is likely too much - especially given the spikes to 130%~ it can see.

It's sorta surprising given the size of the vapor chamber, full length of the card yet the air hasn't got much in the way of venting to escape properly. If they hadn't tapered in the top and bottom covering up portions of the chamber and sealed the side the air would have more room to escape and possibly keep the card cooler. Think they went for form over function with this design.

It doesn’t help that most people don’t have an effective case/fan layout to deal with this type of cooler. People shit on blower coolers all the time, but generally, the average under performing case is going to be better off with it.

So you have an ineffective cooler + bad case thermals + likely some faulty ram that can’t deal with these high temps.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Nvidia releases a bios update that declocks the ram by a couple hundred MHz along with gimping the TDP cap to “fix” this issue.

I would hope most people dropping $1,250+ on a vid card know how to set up a case for proper air flow...

The cooler doesn't really allow good airflow going by the design.

It has an ok opening on the left then it tapers in with the geforce logo to virtually nothing then the other side has a tiny venting area before the pcie connectors. Bottom of the card is the same setup. Then you have the far end of the card which is capped with metal, realistically there's not a lot of room for air to vent out of the body of this card, its all choked off by form over function design choices.

So whos gonna take a hacksaw to their cooler and open up the far side to see if temps improve? :p

Somebody has already mentioned the same card. However I have a Gigabyte Windforce OC and have not had issues with it. I've been pushing it pretty hard since receiving it.

I am bit worried. Right now we aren’t even using the full chip yet, since nothing works the tensor cards hard yet.

Well bfv is out pretty soon, if many more of these cards shit the bed around that time then its a bigger issue than it currently is.

I have a RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition from NVIDIA store. Received it 10/23/18 and I have been gaming and torture testing for overclock and benchmark scores. So far everything is working perfectly. Games I play are Overwatch, BF4, Black Ops 4 all maxed @ 1440p. See benchmarks below:

Time Spy Extreme https://www.3dmark.com/spy/4903127

Fire Strike Extreme https://www.3dmark.com/fs/16911396

I previously had a RTX 2080 Founders Edition from Best Buy for about 10 days and it too was working as intended. (I returned it for a 2080 Ti)

Serial # 0323xxxxxxxxx

ok what the hell?

59 people have had no issues. and 8 people have however only 62 people put if their card was a founders edition or an AIB edition.

:ROFLMAO:

also there is some missing data from people who have rma'ed and people who have other issues and bsod's

Both of my RTX cards are functional, however one is ten degrees hotter than the other. I assume this is due to airflow. they are founders edition reference cards. Also please note I have not done *extensive* testing or gamed for an 8 hour period, due to real life concerns.

When you get a chance, can you give us the first 4 numbers of your serial numbers?

RTX 2080 Ti FE here with serial 0323818...

Installed on 10/18 and no problems at stock. It's stable with OC scanner curves (max clock speed 2130) and +300 memory. +400 fails time spy but nothing else. I seem to have less headroom on the memory than almost all other reports I've seen, but no other issues.

Are they in separate boxes or in one box SLI'ed? If in a SLI config, then Nvidia cards always seemed to do this - where one of the SLI cards runs significantly hotter than the other. And that's not typically airflow related as I've seen this with multiple waterblocked SLI setups.

I have the 2080ti MSI Gaming X Trio , have had no real problems but , I was lazy this time around and bought my first pc ever( have always built before) . I purchased through NZXT BLD and got the 9900K The Asus Maximus XI mb and the MSI 2080ti. I had read a few reviews of the cam software being junk , and my previos pc was a 3820 with SLI'd 980 Ti's , so I chose to push things off the bat to make sure I didn't have any issues. Afterburner , I had to get the beta version because the public version didn't control the fans correctly , also the CAM software was wonky and was made the fans spin really slow , I noticed this , because my last build sounded like a jet engine , so quiet made me suspicious . I had stability problems at first and lots of overheating , but it was all software related and so I don't really count this as a bad on Nvidia or the card itself. I wonder if a lot of folks , had the same kinda circumstances , but were not paying attention to the temps as closely as I was and that added to the problem. Also seems there are 2 different binnings on the GPU's with the ones ending in "A" are supposed to be a higher quality chip , binned and sold to AIB partners . Seems most of the news I can find puts the non "A" binned chips as having issues.

My RTX 2080 Ti FE that died started with 03236.

I've posted about it elsewhere, but I had no problems for two weeks until it started artifacting which quickly turned into a blue screen after a session of playing Kingdom Come Deliverance. Not surprised, that game does run the GPU pretty hard. After rebooting from the blue screen card would not be detected, error code 43. Went through with RMA and already have new card after about a week from putting in claim. New card is a 0324 so I hope this is indeed just an issue on some of the earlier batch. No issues yet, will probably get to put it to the test this weekend.

So I bought 2x RTX 2080 Ti for NVLink. It's been something of a nightmare. I think my machine is working now, but there have been so many problems I don't even know anymore.

Both the original cards were 0323. Had serious stability issues, repeatable crashes in any game or app that stressed the GPU like 3DMark, Catzilla, Superposition, games including Far Cry 5. Would either crash to desktop or blue screen.

I tried each card by itself, one was definitely worse than the other (blue screen less than 1 minute into a game) but even with the "good" card I had stability problems.

Eventually I replaced my PSU based on advice here and some people on Reddit with similar PSUs and similar problems (I was using a Corsair AX1500i). After swapping in a EVGA 1000 G+ mostly everything has been working.

The new PSU has been in there for almost a week now (since Saturday) and I have not seen a blue screen since then, though I still get crashes in Far Cry 5. Everything else I've tried works, so I believe this is a game/driver issue and not a hardware problem.

My replacement also came a few days ago, 0324, and seems to be working. At least it's been 3 days without any major issue (besides the FC5 crashes to desktop). Which is good, but I'm now a little uncomfortable that my machine can crash at any moment.

Will give it some time, hopefully I have 2 working cards and that is the end of it.

Jeezus, I cant believe they didnt look at this before shipping. Who would have thought that a PC enthusiast level part would be overclocked?. Looks like the fully closed off vaporchamber isnt making contact with everything it should be, or letting some air circulate onto the PCB. 92 degrees is way too close to the max 95 for the GDDR6...Im guessing were gonna see a lot more die over time, keep those receipts folks and/or get em under blocks. Too close for comfort for me, seems these dont like to be pushed.

"Built for overclocking"

SLI, brobably the bottom card or the more utilized card.

Could be due to chip quality. One of them could require significantly more voltage to hit the same clocks.

Now, my pc froze while playing and my pc will only see each rtx 2080 ti individually if I disconnect the power cables from each video card and use them alone. If I try both at once the pc only recognizes one. So both cards work, but not at the same time..... Unless my cpu, board or power supply decided to start flaking out....

Zero issues with my Founders Edition 2080 Ti paired with an 8700K @ 5Ghz and Corsair AX 860 (non digital) PSU.

From what I've read, it seems like a lot of the issues are a mixture of bad game settings (Fallout 4 Weapon Debris for instance), user error, and the GPU pulling too many amps through a trace on multi-rail PSUs.

I'm definitely keeping my eye on this thread (and others like it), as well as my card though... And I'm holding off on water-cooling until the dust settles on this. Don't want to give Nvidia a reason to decline an RMA if it goes sideways.

I’m still running my 2080 Ti in a Zaber Sentry case in horizontal mode. I did add taller feet, but there can’t be many more harsh conditions.

I looped stress tests for hours yesterday. So far so good.

There’s something to be said about maxing out everything and seeing 60FPS @ 2160p locked solid, no dips, on my 43”.
It’s glorious! I’ve waited YEARS for this - like 4 freakin years! Super smooth gameplay.. love it.
