Fallout 76

The quests are fairly half baked. It feels about on par with an early 2000's MMO. Most quests seem to be given by terminals, basically. What you find loot wise doesn't mean much. This isn't like the single player games where you can come across cool shit or random cool events.

I get what they were trying to do with this game.. But I think they've really misunderstood why people like their games, and this ultimately feels like Fallout Rust more then an actual game I want to play.

Oof, harsh words. Can’t say I’m surprised, I consider fallout 4 a massive disappointment.

It is truly immersive creeping up on some raiders and then hearing a group of bros behind you screaming about the cuck radroach fucks. It pulls me into the setting. Even more so when I’m trying to listen to a holotape while a child screams in surround sound.

Well, I'm sure glad I didn't have a chance tonight to try the beta that just might be an alpha. Hopefully they get fixed the download bug as I don't want to redownload 47GB (downloaded it monday night).

And then... the official support forums are down so, post on the reddit!

Ironically, I'm not a huge Fallout fan, still have yet to play 4 but I might stick with this one for the laughs and right to gripe. At least I got it when amazon was still doing pre order 20% discounts.

The game has officially gone from "If you don't like it, don't buy it" territory into "Please don't buy it at all".
This is one of those games where it's such a mess you really should just NOT buy it to avoid supporting bad dev practices. Even for bethesda this is a new low.

Compiling some issues:
  • FOV setting, didn't see that anywhere.
  • No option to disable or change the levels of DoF , little too strong for my tastes.
  • Brightness and bloom settings, places felt a little too bright from time to time.
  • Option to disable motion blur, that's always nice.
  • Overall common settings for PC like Antialiasing or Anisotropic filtering were missing
  • Raw mouse input or option to disable smoothing.
  • Need more key rebinding options, like changing scroll wheel to something else.
  • Also as with Fallout 4 some keybindings where bundled together resulting in some accidental grenade throwing and there didn't seem to be option to separate them.
  • Text chat would also be nice, we have keyboards after all.
  • Push to talk, that's a no-brainer.
  • a lot of key bindings can't be rebind (e.g. Z to Y -> not everyone has a QWERTY)
  • ESC should bring up the menu not the map (M should be for the map)
  • ESC should close the Pip-Boy/map first (so 2 times ESC = menu when your in the Pip-Boy)
  • mouse wheel should switch between your favorites not bring up the fav menu
  • ultra wide screen support (21:9)
  • mouse smoothing toggle (raw mouse input)
  • decouple movement from FPS (works like a speed hack)
  • separate mouse sensitivity slider for ADS
  • text chat
  • HUD/Pip-Boy color picker

So basically lots of the the same shit the modding community normally fixes with every Bethesda release?

I like to rebind my keys. This game seemed a bit better than Fallout 4 in that regard but it's still crap.

No ultrawide, although I do see they claim it will be supported after release (which I take to mean not at release but sometime after). I could get an output to fill up my whole monitor but it was stretched 16:9.

No text chat, that was bad enough in Forza Horizon 4 which I've been playing recently but at least I can view that as a mostly console game that is out on PC now. Bethesda is a company with a primarily PC background, although I guess you could say they've enjoyed more success since coming to consoles too and have no multiplayer experience so what do they know or care about text chat.

Can't change your username. When I signed up I did it in a hurry and didn't quite realize what I was creating would be my name in game. I've seen platforms with restrictions on how often you can change your username (Rockstar social once a year, xbox live 1 free change and charges thereafter, etc) but not being able to change it at all is silly.

I preordered at Amazon as well, really easy to cancel which I just did. Shame, game concept and idea was debatable as to whether it would be fun or good and I was willing to dive in but this list of problems is crap not even related to any of that, more technical things.

I cancelled my pre-order on Amazon, then re-preordered and got a 2nd beta key for my friend. :)

Here's the beta schedule

It's time-limited per day? Are you fucking kidding?

I haven't even had time to download this fully yet (though it sounds like the launcher is fucked and made people re-download it anyway) but holy shit, that is some bullshit beta access.

You know what? Fuck it, I'm cancelling my pre-order. Not even worth it. This will probably be $20 within months anyway given the way it's going.

Honestly even if there weren't any technical issues it wouldn't change the fact that the game just isn't fun. There is no fixing this game at this point unless they cancel it and decide to re-release it as a singleplayer game with better content/gameplay, and that's not going to happen.

Admit it, we all knew this was going to suck the moment they made it a 'mmo'.

I'm surprised so many people here pre-ordered...this looked bad from the moment it was announced...as a fan of the series I had zero interest in this from Day 1...it's crowdfunding for Starfield and Elder Scrolls 6 development

I pre-ordered on Amazon just for the beta code and then cancelled. If the game actually ended up being salvageable I would have kept it pre-ordered.

With how bad this game is currently though they ought to make it F2P and just give folks who bought the full copy of the game $60 worth of loot crates or something.

I really hope this game fails though. If it's successful they'll likely end up ruining the next elder scrolls this way as well.

Post Apocalyptic games never go over well if they are not done right. Fallout series is about desolation so I knew how this game would turn out not being single player offline. Reason why most successful MMO games are Fantasty games.

That's my biggest fear regarding the next ES game. Unfortunately the sheep will come to pasture & this game will sell like hot cakes & Bethesda will deem it a success. The next Elderscolls game is already ruined.

I don't get the level of hate? The game is missing a lot of PC specific features. Aren't they really just the little adjustments though? It is not a Single Player game. A lot of these things, like FOV, would give the player an advantage in a MP game.

Personally I had to redownload, that was not fun. But the game ran great for any Bethesda game I've ever played. I didn't have a lot of time, I did not even look at the settings. Not like me at all, but I was time limited. I did not like the strength of dof myself. If I could I would turn it off. At the time I did not care, I just wanted to explore.

I ended up in a tree stand playing a Banjo. Seemed right.

Its a fun game, try not to get hung up on the settings menu.

As I've stated in a previous post - the technical issues I could look over if the gameplay was fun. But it's not.

So the framerate being tied to the speed of the game is not going to be fixed until the game releases. So everyone who plays on PC is now going to be fucked over in some senses when it comes to PVP. How the fuck did Bethesda not see this? I mean....

Either way, the BETA has been a clusterfuck for PC users, and TBH this isn't going to sell well on PC. Don't worry though they will make their money on the Consoles laugh

I really want this game to be good. Honestly.

I'm just not seeing it, at least not right now. Maybe a year down the line, if people are still playing it.

The gamebryo engine is the worst engine used by any tripleA developer. It completely sucks in every single possible way except one (familiarity to modders). At least with the single player titles you can mod away some of the BS, the instant this was announced to be online only with only approved/paid mods it was dead in the water. I'm surprised there's PC gamers who still have high expectations for this title.

Great to see so many familiar names on the HardForum still. Big Fallout fans like Krenum and Q-BZ.

I don't get to game as much as I once did with kids etc. I've mostly being playing Battlefield as I can jump in and out at whim The last single player game I completed was Fallout 4

Was really looking forward to this game being a big Fallout fan but judging by your feedback it's not looking brilliant. I didn't pre-order so I'm going with your judgement guys.

Don't forget AceGoober. I don't think anyone knows that scene better than he does. ;)

I'm not surprised this thing is the wreck many of us expected it to be. What a waste. Instead of giving the fans what they really wanted.

Agreed. I'm surprised anyone on any gaming platform had anything remotely resembling high expectations for this.

The Gamebryo should have been out to pasture a decade ago give or take.
