On his Twitter page, former AMD employee Darren McPhee announced that he is joining Intel's new graphics team. OC3D was one of the first sites to spot the Tweet, and they say that McPhee "worked for ATI Technologies between 2003 until AMD acquired the company in 2007. After the acquisition, McPhee worked for AMD until October 2015, after which he worked for DM17 Marketing Solutions and BlueCat." Darren McPhee will presumably be working with former AMD employees Raja Koduri and Chris Hook, and Intel also hired Jim Keller earlier this year.

During his time at AMD, McPhee was presumably responsible for some remarkable marketing campaigns, like the "Fixer" video here.

After a few years away from the graphics industry, happy to be back and part of the intel team!

I like SOME of the marketing he "presumably" was responsible for, but alas there was a great deal of marketing AMD had done in the years he was part of the team that was absurd...love AMD and Radeon in general, and I like the quip about "imaginary cache, they say they have the most advanced architecture, for games made in 2010 absolutely spot on observation"

Now you could say (in my opinion you should be) advanced way of tricking people into thinking they are getting what they paid for instead of what they should be getting (not sure how exactly to word that) if all you are after is a very fast vehicle with a half trunk and small tank, yes, they (Nv) are more advanced, for everyone else, Radeon is the better choice.

AMD has pretty much always been "forward looking" in the way they build cpu-gpu and the like, of course they do not always succeed, but very seldom have they sat on their backside and do nothing (including putting things into motion to "share" stuff with the community that main competitors refuse to embrace because AMD did it).

looking forward to what AMD does for 4Q18 and 2019, here is hoping analyst stop being douches and fairly value AMD for what they have done in the last 2+ years and not base what they are doing/have done in comparison to what others are doing/have done....base them on their own merits nothing more ^.^

This guy hardly did anything from the looks of it. Man, I'm in the wrong career!

Better if Intel went dutch with AMD on the grafix, then they could share GFX and have each their own CPU's.

As it is now i feel like Intel try to reinvent the wheel.

Well, if no one tried to reinvent the wheel, we would have never gotten tires.

that's not reinventing that's just taking what we already had and improving on the design based on specific use cases.

as far as oldmodders post they already have.. AMD licensed a bunch of their graphic technology to intel. but intel's more interested in the deep learning/AI market.. trying to compete against nvidia and AMD in the consumer market wouldn't even be profitable after licensing fees.

I have never seen any AMD marketing that I can recall from the last decade..... So I am not sure what this guy actually does but I don't feel he does it very well.

Good thing he's left. Maybe now AMD can actually get some real marketing done.

Marketing would include pitching their product to businesses and for commercial distribution as well, would it not? Like someone had to go to Microsoft and Sony and pitch their product and explain why they should use their hardware instead of Nvidia/Intel or whatever and why company X should use AMD products in their servers.

I'm actually asking, I have no idea personally.

Xeon was great. So was coal. :D nvm "AMD graphics product marketing director"

you do realize he hasn't been an AMD employee since 2015 right? AMD's never really been a marketing power house.. about the most they ever really did was some random super bowl ad's and maybe some world series ad's.

there were a few radeon adverts before AMD decided to finally kill off the ATi brand then there was nothing. back before AMD bought ATi there were a lot more product ad's.

Intel already has much better marketing campaigns than what this guy can add. He must know someone...
