I ordered the 11" 512GB as well. I had the first gen 12.9" and I still use it everyday, got a little bit too large lately so I think the 11" is perfect.

just wondering, is the display has the 120hz like the previous ipad pro?

I imagine so. The tech specs indicate that it still supports ProMotion which I believe is 120Hz.

Also nice to see Apple finally picking up USB-C for more devices; will not be surprised if next year's iPhone are also USB-C. I hope that next year's iPhones also pick up the same type of side edges as these new iPad Pros (the iPhone 4/5 edges).

I also ordered the 11" 512. As per the size of the 12.9", I saw that it's physically smaller since they kept the same screen size but removed most of the bezel.

I had a $200 Apple gift card and ordered the 11" 256GB. About all I use my iPad for is streaming videos and reading e-books. I probably could have gotten away with the 64GB, but figured more storage would help resale value.

Yea. But still it’s quite big with a case on. My old 12.9 became huge with a simple and even thin hard case.

I still have my 1st Gen iPad pro. But I'm missing the 120hz refresh rate from 2nd Gen. This might be the best time to upgrade. Still contemplating if I want the 11" or 12.9"

I too have the 12.9” Gen 1; but it’s too big to carry around daily. My iPad mini getting a bit old and the switches starting to fail. Though keep them both for ... domestic use.
So best time to upgrade. And I felt I love with the magnetic pencil holder/charger. That is perfect solution. Plugging the gen 1 pencil in the lightning port never felt the right way.

Just an FYI for those of you ordering - the 64/256/512GB versions have 4GB of RAM and the 1TB has 6GB of RAM.

That doesn't make sense. Why would an iPad with more storage have more ram?

Not sure how it doesn’t make sense? Several brands have done the same thing for smartphones where the larger/largest storage capacity has more RAM as well.

We're talking about Apple here. I've never heard of them doing this before on IOS devices.

Well they gave the Plus model iPhones an extra gigabyte of RAM for the 7/8 so I'm not necessarily shocked that they started differentiating RAM capacity based on storage size as well like other competitors.

Start setting up

1) Keyboard feels like I need to get used to it
2) When close the keyboard those touch the screen ? Hope not leave marks over time
2) Love the handling and of the Pencil
3) device is so light

Also got the 11". Is the keyboard worth the $180 asking price?

Still waiting for mine to be delivered. I've always preferred to use my Logitech K811 Bluetooth keyboard instead of one of those keyboard cases.

My favorite iPad case is the ZUGU: https://**************/2ATuCwP

Give me day. I I used it right now only for setup laying in bed. During that time I lost the cover twice. It is attached magnetic only, no mechanical means to hold it in place. So I lost the iPad twice bunit slipping out. Agree, it’s an extreme position and angle.
Now during daytime I will get better feeling for the keyboard. The first iPad Pro keyboard felt better.
On the plus side the keyboard act like a case and protect the back side, but also not the sides of the iPad
Mixed feelings overall. I would not rush to get one.

So I just want to make you guys aware that apps like Netflix, Hulu and Spotify need to be updated to support the new iPad Pro screens. They’re currently showing black bars on the left and right side. Youtube and an app I use to watch movies from my NAS called Infuse work great thought.

Just finished setting up mine. I love it!! So light, thin and fast. The keyboard is much more responsive, too.

To Stryder's point about Netflix, Prime and other video apps needing updates to accommodate the new screen, a lot of other apps need updating, too. Gmail, Yahoo Weather, ESPN and several more display those black bars on my iPad.

I bought this ESR case to use until the new ZUGU case is released: https://**************/2SPE5fw

I was looking at those cases but I don’t think you can charge the new pen with that ESR case on right?

You're right. I don't use the pencil, so it's not an issue for me. I just wanted something cheap to protect my iPad until the ZUGU is out.

That’s nice with the USB-C. Now when I travel I only use one charger from the MBP or my company HP hybrid and the port replicator from that one with charge-through.

In the office I tried video via that HDMI and worked well.

At home I tried Ethernet and also worked, dhcp got the IP and router...

Airplane mode and still transfer ... download should be better but family is streaming like hell.

Nice one... one dongle for multiple laptop/tablet and single charger.

I picked up a 12.9 IPP yesterday. I really like it but I think I'd be better served by the 11" model. I had a tough time deciding yesterday and the Apple sales person just said to buy one and try, exchange if needed. I'll give it a few more days. The 12.9 is just a little unwieldy when holding with one hand and jotting notes, and the keyboard case its slightly unstable for laptop use. The pencil is great though. I use it for notes and sketching. The display and speed is remarkable though..

I’m very tempted. I had a 10.5” Pro for about a month before I left it on an airplane b/c I’m an idiot. That was over a year ago.

I took it as God telling me I didn’t need an iPad. So I’m leary to drop another $1k on another on.

I do use a MBP a bit at work - but I use my phone much, much more now. In fact, I’m punishing myself by typing this out on my phone as well, when if I had it available, I would otherwise be using the iPad.

I know deep down it can’t replace my MBP entirely - I do too much spreadsheet and terminal work which wouldn’t be practical on a tablet no matter how power a CPU it has. But I did really like playing Candy Crush at 120Hz TruTone ... and posting on [H], of course.

So I dunno.

I just picked up the Smart Keyboard and the Apple Pencil 2. The keyboard is going to take some getting used to but the new pencil is fantastic. It feels much better than the first version and it’s super light. I also like that it has a flat side.

We had the 12.9" Pro from last year and it didn't get too much use between my gf and I. The idea was it could replace our MacBook's for browsing on the couch or on bed, but we just pull our laptops out instead. Grabbed the 11" this time and it's a good size for me to take on trips or for client presentations without having to cram more crap in my bag. I also like the new bezel and the shape, feels a lot nicer in the hand.

I think we're similar in terms of workload. I could never replace my MBP (I WFH for what it's worth, but travel quite frequently), but this newer iPad fits the bill when it comes to presentations or just watching a quick video while waiting for something else. It's sort of replaced my phone if it's within arms reach.

What’s the model of that port replicator?

Has anyone found a working trackpad for it yet? I've been contemplating trying out the new Pro for daily use but without having a trackpad it makes it impossible.

I still don't understand why Apple didn't put one on the keyboard instead of forcing us to go third party to the Swiftpoint GT for any apps that require a pointing device. I really don't want to have to use a mouse.

My understanding is iOS doesn’t support tracking inputs yet (mice, touchpads/etc). You are not the only one who has been asking for a while, it would be a great idea: which is probably why it won’t come to pass anytime soon.

The only thing I've found so far that works is the Swiftpoint GT for passing through to the Horizon View client. It's definitely not something I'd want to use on a daily basis, which is why it would be nice if other choices were available. Apple knows we'll just buy the new Air instead of the iPad Pro, so they don't care. :(
