Is Youtube down for everyone? Even Is It Down is down with people checking. Dexerto says it is down.

In a very rare occurence, video sharing website has completely gone down, not loading any videos or menus on desktop or mobile versions.

Reports from around the world quickly came in, shared on social media as users complained that they were unable to watch videos on Tuesday evening.

YouTube has not had a major crash of this kind in recent memory, with only small bugs and glitches typically affecting the site's status.

YouTube is on average the 2nd most visited website in the world, and this is the first major crash of the website in years.

It comes on the same day that Twitter also had a major malfunction, sending out strange spam notifications to users mobile devices.

YouTube is my primary media outlet... Wife doe the OTA Antenna, Netflix, Pluto, etc...

thought it was a Canadian thing at first as all the reports I saw were here.
 
No pages load for me on Youtube. Using Firefox, I get that monkey error page. Be interesting to see how they explain this.
 
It's not them - it's us:

"When YouTube can't complete the action you’ve taken, an error message may appear on your device. There are many root causes of error messages, many of which are out of YouTube’s control, including a bad internet connection and insufficient memory on your device."
  • If you have many browser tabs open, try to close most of them except the one that you're using for YouTube.
  • Restart your browser.
  • Restart your router.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Update your browser to the latest version.
  • Use Chrome.
 
FUCK I just found out after trying to watch the eminem video and another video. ROFL! World ending!
 
I'm curious what kind of malfunction has to happen to bring a site like YouTube down worldwide completely, and for this long.

Kyle releases RTX 2070 early review onto interwebs

24 hours later I get notifications that some big youtubers like Jay have 2070 videos up, just as I was going to watch them, YouTube goes down.

Illumination confirmed.

Yeah, but surely their hardware and software infrastructure is much more robust now.

I genuinely curious as to how this happened. How many redundancies had to fail or be defeated if this was a malicious attack?

I'm also curious how much money YouTube loses with each minute the site is down. Maybe none if it isn't profitable in general as is often said.
 
My bet is a denial of service attack. Either that or Jayz2cents is pissed of at Kyle again!

new hardware to them is still 10 years old. its not a total outage, so some loss.
