recommended to use a backplate for waterblock mounting??

So I took delivery of my new watercool heatkiller IV pro block for my new 9900k build and watercool does NOT include a motherboard backplate... ive never mounted a waterblock without one, and am wondering if I should buy the backplate to mount this block with or just go ahead and install it as per the instruction say. Seems the board will bow without one, but looking for yalls input here. thanks

**EDIT** i went ahead and ordered the watercool heatkiller backplate. cant seem to understand why they dont include this nearly needed item in the box with a 100$ waterblock... crazy

They don't include it because it's not necessary. If you've got a super-cheap board with thin PCB, it might flex a bit, but the socket itself doesn't flex and the mount isn't comprised.

Source: used that exact block with no backplate on a cheaper Gigabyte Mobo with no issue.

good to know, thank you. I ordered the back plate tho just for extra reassurance. certainly wont hurt anything
 
You could always be an idiot like me and secure some screws to the mainboard mount holes with some nuts and nylon washers :p

Disclaimer: I'm using a very old swiftech apogee GT on a z170 board. It was modified to fit.
