The Female Leads Have Been Chosen for the Netflix 'The Witcher' Series

Once again ... the executive producer you know the big boss, clearly stated the race, gender, cultural heritage of the characters would not be changed. This was stated on May 11, while the writing/casting process was taking place.
It doesn't matter what someone connected to the project tweeted 6 months before the news broke that the role is to be cast as a minority (by which clearly meant non-white). In what reality does a 6 months old twitter post made by one person supersedes a casting call six months later?

People who didn't know at the time didn't know about what the executive producer said because they weren't informed. Instead of informing themselves and maybe doing a little research to see if the outrage was warranted people chose to be triggered and jump on the outrage bandwagon. Even though the executive producer had made the situation clear, irresponsible media outlets decided to stoke the outrage fires. There was absolutely no need for the executive producer to clarify the issue when they had already done so 4 months previous. In fact the executive producer was so sick of the alt-SJW bullshit they left twitter. Now we see that just like the executive producer said was going to happen, a caucasian polish girl was cast as Ciri .. completely consistent throughout this entire process.
Of course they weren't informed, for crying out loud. That's exactly the issue, that someone deliberately misinformed them. Because at this point it is clear that the "BAME" news was a plant to coerce this exact reaction.
If the news tells you that someone is poisoning dogs in your area, Do you look at the twitter posts of every friend of the person who supposedly poisons dogs, to see if there is some post to be found that says he'd never hurt a dog? And even if you find said post why would you believe it over the more recent news?

Something something video games to live action all being garbage....Let me know if this somehow beats the odds and ends up the one exception. I won't be holding my breath.

Eh, in this case it's a novel series first, video game second, and now a TV series third.

So one dude on the internet writes a blog post and you are able to mentally disregard a dictionary definition. Wow.

"However, some have taken it to refer to all non-white ethnic minorities while others use it in the way it was originally intended"

When the majority of the population uses a word a certain way, "some" is the wrong word. He should have said "most". Just because he wishes for it to start being used a certain way, doesn't make it so.

Do you really think the person that wrote the casting call was using it in the archaic form or the modern colloquial form?

See .. it's not just someone connected to the project. It is the executive producer who is both casting and writing the series. The term BAME originally encompassed white and not white ethnic minorites as the link I posted states.

How does your analogy even remotely apply to the situation being discussed? You are attempting to compare apples to dump trucks.

Why did you remove the first part of that quote I linked? You know the part which states:
"The term BAME was originally intended to encompass both white and non-white ethnic minorities."

Why did you remove the first part of that quote I linked? You know the part which states:

Because it's irrelevant. Words evolve over time. Did you know originally the word "cute" came from "acute" and "cute" only referred to someone that was intellectually respected? Later in time it evolved into someone "attractive" to the point that now "cute" solely functions as an adjective to describe someone's looks. OMG, we need to pretend like "cute" means "smart" again because you know, ORIGINALLY, that's how it was used. Just admit you're wrong when it comes to BAME. You can pull up all the obscure blog posts you want. You're wrong. Ask any regular person, it means 'NON WHITE'. People don't care about some etymology you found on some dude's website. Just like nobody cares about the etymology of the word "cute". It means what it means because society has defined what it means; that's how language works.

As I said re-inventing the word minority to not mean what everyone uses it for, and then act surprised when it gets an unfavorable reaction? The sites running the "minority bame" articles should've put out clarifications at the first sign of trouble. You don't let a misunderstanding fester unless it is exactly your goal to let it fester. Nothing is bellow SJWs.

How does your analogy even remotely apply to the situation being discussed? You are attempting to compare apples to dump trucks.
It is the exact same situation even if you refuse to accept it.

News article says A about X.
2 weeks later it is revealed that A was a hoax. And someone drags out an old twitter post by person Y who is an executive of project X. That nobody saw, because no news article mentioned it.

If anything that twitter post should've been added to the original bame post, by the "journalist". So at best the fault is with them.

You don't get to call people stupid for thinking A, after you explicitly tell them to think A.

So what you are REALLY angry about is that the term BAME was used (even though Polish minority ethnicity fits the E of that term), you wanted it to say caucasian.
First off, I'm not angry. Since your attempts to redefine my argument are getting old, I'll just ask you a question:

Why would an executive producer committed to not changing gender, ethnicity, or cultural heritage of characters cast such a wide net? If, as you've said many times, the Executive producer knew Ciri would be a young Polish girl 4 months prior to the casting call, why waste everyone's time by auditioning Black, Asian, or any other ethnicity of actress?

I can only think of three reasons:
  • Lauren is a bigot and only added the BAME part to have the opportunity to waste the time of Black, Asian, and ethnic minority actresses.
  • Lauren had a change of heart and decided to reneg on the (according to you at least) iron-clad guarantee that gender, ethnicity, and cultural heritage would not be changed.
OR
  • Lauren or someone else involved in production wanted to cash in on that sweet, sweet SJW vs everyone else hype.

The site I linked is not "some sweaty kid" it is an international organization with 130 partners in over 60 countries
Have you actually looked at what they do? They lobby, they "publish authoritative publications", and they try to pass international laws. The sweat level is over 9000.

For the love of god, please cut back on the memes, it is really annoying, even if I'm 100% percent against Draax.

WHY are you people arguing over what race the characters will/should be?

Come on, we're talking Hollywood based company producing the series. My ethnicity is Slavic and I have no issue with Ciri being an Asian girl, or whatever.

Because Hollywood lectures us constantly on whitewashing and cultural appropriation while blatantly being hypocritical.
Just like all the lectures they gave us about sexual harrassment while they were assaulting and raping each other.
Hypocrisy gets old.

Asian doesn't mean the waifu you're looking for. The problem is the hype implied they were looking to deliberately avoid a specific race.

It doesn't matter what race a character is. What matters: Don't change the race of a character when it has already been established as one thing and it is a part of pop culture.
Remember the uproar when they cast Scarlett Johannson for GITS? I'd have loved to see Maggie Q in that role.
Funny how the roles were reversed then, hypocrisy level 9000.

Let me paint a scenario: What if they changed the race of Spock to black? Everyone would've hated it. So are the fans racists? Of course not. What's my proof? They created Tuvok, who has basically the same role in Voyager, and everyone loved him. Funny how the toxic nerd community is so selective about their racism.
Or perhaps they're not racist at all, but there are some people out there, who desperately need someone to blame for every wrong in the world (cause it can't be them, they're convinced they're awesome) so they blame white racism. And they grab every opportunity to push that narrative, even if it is 100% percent dishonest.

And the same goes for sexes as well. Had they made a female spock? Outrage. Not because of sexism, but because of shitting on their fandom. But they accepted T'Pol, so how can anyone accuse them of racism and sexism with a straight face?

This is exactly right. "Gamers are sexist, they hate women, that's why they hate battlefield V". Oh really? why do these same sexist gamers run out and buy the shit out of Tombraider which ONLY LETS YOU PLAY AS A WOMAN for the main character?

Eh? It was already established in GITS that she had a white body.

Oh, they have an answer for that.
If gamers hate a game and there are women in it: They're sexist, because they hate a game with women leads.
If they like a game with women: They're sexist, because they are objectifying women and the game is catering to toxic masculinity.

Be at ease, no matter what you do, or say, they can find a reason why you're still in the wrong, if they want to. And that's the real problem. They don't attack people because they're in the wrong, they attack them because they don't like what they think.
