AMD Ryzen 7 2700X on Sale...Again

I’m gonna scoop one of these to replace my dead 1155 plex server, but why does it seem X470 mobo reviews are so negative - most boards from reputable companies are in the 3-3.8 star average max :(

Unloading excess stock as the ryzen 2 will be announced soon.

nah they're just doing it to be more enticing than the 9900k..

most of the time read the reviews, they're done by complete idiots that don't understand what QVL's are and think any ram will work on the boards. or the idiots bitching about ram being expensive so lets blame the motherboard.. dafuq o_O. the x470's don't have the issues a lot of the x370 boards had. asus, MSI, and asrock's taichi(only board they have that i'd touch) x470 boards are great choices.. still not a fan of gigabytes boards though.

The problem is you have some x470 boards under $100, and some over $300. So you're going to have reviews all over the place.

I have a Gigabyte X470 board and I've had zero issues. But other people will chime in also.

Read a few reviews, ask here make a decision.

2XXX Ryzens are Zen1. I don't think Zen2 products will be out till at least Q1 but they could be announced in Q4.

man if i wasn't broke. i ended up replacing my dead 775 board with my old server's dual 1366 server board and dual Hexes @ 95 watts EACH! Ryzen's just not in the budget yet.

AMD's next tech conference is January 9th being held by the CEO. Probably announcing Vega 2, Zen 2, Epyc 2 and Polaris 3

Word is they will be announced at the end of this October.

edit: This may be post FUD. I'm trying to source so take that with a grain of salt. From what I understand the EPYC based on Zen 2 will be out before Ryzen 3. Still Mid 2019 for Zen 2 (Ryzen 3) official release

That said AMD does not need to adjust against i9-9900x. The value angle is not there unless you absolutely need the fastest gaming possible at moderate resolutions.

No, I know that. I am asking why so soon for gen2.

Soon ? When Intel is doing tick-tock in yearly releases, it is normal, but when AMD does the same, it is "so soon" ? Ryzen 1st gen was 2017, Ryzen+ was 2018, Ryzen 2 is 2019.

I think it would be soon if there were any Zen2 products in 2018. Even if they announce Zen2 this month we probably will not see them until early Q1.

Ryzen+ came out a few months ago is what I am saying. Thats barely a year if its in January, but semantics aside, I do hope ryzen 2 does come out soon. It better if it forces intel to speed up releases too.

I think the i9 9900K and the new X299 platform are the last releases before Intel will have to go to 10nm.

Ryzen was February/March 2017.
Ryzen+ was April 2018.
Ryzen 2 will be presented in January 2019, most likely sold around February/March 2019.

It is the normal 1 year schedule, +/- month or two.

Good deal if you don't have to pay taxes. With tax, $279.99 comes out to be $303.99 for me

Amazon (and Newegg) now charge tax on all our orders (in Illinois/Chicago-land area) - B and H sometimes offers a as good or better price (not this time though) and saves the tax for our area.

Good look on microcenter, going to go there tomorrow since the ‘zon also charges me sales tax. Looks like an additional $30 some combos too!

Do not think you will see 2700X drop by much more than this sale price. It already costs close to half of 9900K, so that is not an opponent. 9700K will cost $80 more than this current sale price, so again, in pricing it is rather noncompetitive.
Simply put, AMD has no reason to lower prices. Intel priced itself out.

prices likely wont go down until amds next iteration of ryzen procs. once the 7nm cpus hit im sure they will drop prices to clear out stock for the new lineup.

the 1800x is only $200 and qualifies for the $30 discount with 470s. add in the asus strix mb and $350 for a 8 core platform to beat up is oh so very nice.
