What is good nowadays in wireless adapters for pci, pcie, usb 3.0?

What are you gamers and hardcore network users using?

WiFi adapters are commodity items. Some suck a bit less than others, but all of them suck to some degree.

When I have to use an adapter I use USB adapters because it's easier to move them around on USB extension cords if I need to re position an antenna. Nothing fancy - they won't set land speed records, but they work so long as the drivers remain available. There are only a handful of chipsets being used, with a lot of brands packaging the same chipset over and over.

I vastly prefer to use WiFi bridges or Powerline Ethernet when I'm working with non-portable equipment that, for whatever reason, can't be run with hardwire to the source.

Agreed

Wi-Fi adapters suck! They are resource hogs and the drivers across multiple OS’ vary in quality and stability.

Hands down best solution if you have decent Wi-Fi signal? 802.11AC bridge, Ethernet to devices.

#2 is Moca

#3 is powerline

I should have mentioned, im on a Cisco-Linksys WMP54G Wireless-G PCI Adapter atm and hooking up to a open wifi someones net with good signal but the problem is the card is downloading at 6mbps while my phone downloads at 25mbps all on 2.4ghz wifi.

For a good item around 40 bucks for 802.11ac bridge can u help me pick one that can be configd to tap into existing open wifi signal > ethernet cable > pc?

If I was buying one today all I'd look for is the latest bandwidth spec and more importantly, if it had Linux support. Neither of my USB devices do, sadly.

I'd also probably hold off at this point for WPA3.

Well well, I am jumping on the FIOS bandwagon. :D. 1GB/s!

Now throw an ethernet cable in your cart that will reach to your PC. ;)
thinking about it I should update to Cat6 I'm guessing I'll have to look up but it just came to my mind as you said that all I got is CAT5 or Cat5e or whatever.

Cat5e is gigabit capable, so if that's what you have, you shouldn't need to buy anything.
