No overclocking, g-sync on (because that's how I play my games)
100hz 3440x1440 display
Dell T7810 - 2 * E5-2673v3 (go find these on ark lol)

And yet, here you are. Care to chime in with your opinion about pricing? It's not like you have been bitching about it all over this forum for the past month or anything. Lol

Meh. I was just joking and it was sort of like a sign of respect while joking. There are plenty of other threads to bitch about price. This is about ballers club. lol

Seems like the cool kids are doing Galax 380W bios flashes. I am going to try just the shunt mod to start.

Bios flash is pretty safe. Don’t shunt mod unless you understand what is happening. You don’t want to do the PCIe slot.

Also seems like FE cards can’t be BIOs flashed. If true those guys would have to shunt mod.

Okay, these cards are beasts! Running Far Cry 5, High settings, 7680x1440 res, and getting around 90fps outdoors or over 100fps indoors. Amazing!

Also tried some older games and getting 141fps locked (due to my frame cap) with no dips. F.E.A.R. 2, Half Life 2 Ep1.

Hi guys--I usually hang out in the news part of the forum here, but figured I'd drop in and say hi.

Anyway, I was going to go with the FTW3, but by the time I paid for it, the sales tax, and a block, I would have been at $1660--, so I took advantage of another opportunity that was ~$140 on top of that. Made things a bit simpler that way.

I guess it's okay for me to join the "club" now (tentative shipping date Oct. 19th):

Here's my system with the RTX 2080 Ti FE installed. Love this card.

Jesus 1800! LOL! Aren't these things power capped?

Jesus 1800! LOL! Aren't these things power capped?

I was hoping it’s not USD. The power caps can be fixed.... but yes everything I’ve seen they are at least slightly power capped. (0.5% to 5%). Not super bad.

I just wonder if it gets worse when RTX is enabled. Unless RTX reduced the CUDA usage....

I know the GALAX has a 380W and is the highest so far. That’s a good bit if power.

Thanks for the welcome, guys.

It's my understanding 2080s are typically power capped, but Galax gets around it using 16+3 phases, higher end components (e.g. Jap caps and mosfets), and a heavy duty pcb (unsure of the number of layers there and the thickness of the copper in them). They're also supposed to ship with two versions of the bios: the 380 as already mentioned here, and a 525 version for those willing to pour. Power feeds are done by way of 3x8 12 volt inputs.

No official word on the actual boost clock yet, but Galax claims to be working on something higher than 1680 as noted here and there on the enthusiast sites.

Oh, and yep, that was $1800 US smackeroos. Don't get me wrong, I'm not rich, but I do like my toys.

On a different note, was investigating the possibilities for others as far as hardware flashing goes for the FEs, but that's pretty much come to a halt for now as there's just no Turing bios editor available yet. Even if there were, noone knows for sure yet how the lockdown in FEs really works. There's plenty of talk about the bios being encrypted, but there's also the notion that NVidia might have added something extra to those cards to ensure a bypass doesn't work. If anyone here has come across anything along those lines, it'd be nice to hear about it.

I do know that some with various brands of AIB reference cards have been able to flash their bios; while others haven't been that lucky yet.

So it draws power like a 290X. Would be nice to see if RTX features draw even more power or cause the clocks to drop, one would figure it has to use more power or something has to give for it to keep the same power level.

It draws a lot but you get performance in return. Anything draws a lot when you OC it. My Titan Maxwell drew 400W OC’d.

But yeah the die is more than 50% larger than a 1080ti/Titan Xp (and 300% more transistors than a 290x). It’s going to pull some watts if you’re using all of it.

Received my 2080 Ti FE on Friday - pics and benches:

I play on an Alienware 34 - 3440x1440/120Hz - looks like I may delay my CPU upgrade again...we'll see when the i9 9900K drops.

Couldn't bear to let go of my MSI GeForce 1080 Ti Lightning Z - so the secondary rig got a PSU upgrade from the garage (Seasonic X-1250 Gold) to accomodate it (5820K @ 4.2GHz, 64GB DDR4):

Got my Gigabyte 2080ti Gaming installed the other day, and I'm loving it. Finally, 4k60fps is here, without compromise! Been playing back through the Witcher 3 and I'm just loving the silky smooth experience with full graphical goodies. In fact, I found I didn't even have to OC it to get a very stable 60fps - even at that rate my GPU usage hovers around 90%.

Messed around very briefly with a mild OC (+120 core, +440 mem over the slight OC the card has - which I believe is about 30 hz higher than the FE). No issues looping Heaven benchmark and did result in a good 9-10% fps boost. However I noticed some odd screen flicker in The Witcher at these settings (only during cut scenes, oddly enough), which I assume is some mild artifacting? Could this be the memory OC? I've seen folks boosting the memory clocks by +700hz, so I figured my settings would be very conservative. I haven't done a lot of trouble shooting, and having really tested other games or anything, so I'm taking it with a grain of salt for now. Probably will also try running without AB turned on to see if that's mucking anything up, and give the other OC utility a shot as well. Anyone else experience anything like this?

Got Superposition to finish this time at 4K. I think it was some weirdness with SLI/Surround, as I got better GPU utilization (and performance) with 4K rather than 1080p.

that's not real benchmark 4k test on the RTX that is just online results NV called Turing the most powerful GPU and you have the textures set to high on this test with 2x cards?

No really, look at overclockers, the fury x thread here, or basically anywhere. It’s for owners only. OP should clarify that in the OP. We don’t need no value added posts. Owners threads are meant for owners...

So now you are following me around? I must be so popular I might sign you book if you ask me nicely :)

Nice! I may WC mine.....or move my PC into the other room lol

Really loving the Predator X27 + 2080ti 4k144 HDR Gsync cccccombo!

Yeah when the X35 releases it’ll be a hard combo to resist. I am afraid of the price!

I did have my PC in my basement for a while with a pretend case upstairs (so the wife wouldn’t catch on).

WC probably isn’t worth it unless you plan to power mod in some way... I have my loop dump into my pool in the summer so it eventually pays itself off. Some people do it for quieter operation but a USB and Dport extension cable can do that too.

I'm going to settle with +110/+675 offsets for my Zotac Amp Ti. The core boost fluctuates all over the place from 1965-2145MHz depending on the game and how much it's getting taxed. Overall I'm happy and it's a nice end-game card for my 1440p 165Hz monitor. (y)

I'm on the fence. My original intent was to WC the 2080ti. I've got a pretty good WC setup with some hefty rads and several GT fans, but since I didn't have a WC block at hand when I got my 2080ti, I decided to install it and just bypass the GPU. Honestly, the triple fans on the Gigabyte Gaming 2080ti are so quiet I can't hear them at all, even when overclocked for a solid 45 min gaming session, and I have my GT fans turned pretty far down. I'm sure any other triple fan setup would be similar. The fan speed never goes above about 70%, and its very quiet at that. As for whether I could unlock more potential with water cooling, I don't doubt it if/when custom bioses are developed to unlock voltage, but barring that I'm not sure if I'd be able to get more than a couple frames above what I have now. Given all that I'm really wondering if it's worth bothering with the WC solution this time around. Dunno, still thinking on this one.

The RTX is not the first 4K60fps card to be released from Nvidia, but the way you said it and not all games will run at 60fps no card is that good dream on.

Sooo, it is?... or it isn't? When trolling, it's better to at least be consistent.

For most reasonable people out there, it was understood that this represents the first card where 4k60fps is possible in practical terms (with VERY few exceptions) for hardware marketed to the consumer market. Keep trying though; I'm entertained by your presence here.

Yea, but I am "pressed" for space in my ITX rig and those 2.75 coolers are a bit too wide for me (that's what she said)

I have a HUGE mountain mod UFO case + a car size radiator sitting around.....but sorta wanted to go tiny for this rig-build-o-round. So my options are keep the stock FE cooler and wear headphones, move it to the closet, WC it, or wait and see if aftermarket triple fan two slot air coolers come out from arctic.

Love the look of the build, but man, talk about hot air re-ingestion with that tight clearance.

No, G-Sync should not have a noticeable hit to performance. If there is a cost, it's probably very small, at least I've never encountered an issue.

I noticed I was getting crashing after installing Geforce Experience to try video recordings. Wasn't able to get it to record Surround, but in the process Far Cry 5 and other games were crashing. I disabled the GFE on-screen overlay, and so far things are fine.

Looks beautiful, and I can certainly understand the desire for a smaller solution...my Corsair 900D is basically a poor man's mountain mods case.

Dunno much about how well they cool, but I'm pretty sure the Windforce (NOT the gaming model) Gigabyte 2080ti is only a 2 slot, not 2.X slot, for what it's worth. Again, not sure how it would compare to the FE since neither exhausts to the exterior, but at least you'd have more fan area.[/QUOTE]

Hot air re-ingestion was less of a factor when I had my "BLOWer" Titan X Pascal in the rig.

Im running a 5ghz OC on the 8700k. But temps have not been an issue for the CPU or GPU....however, I do have to run the 2080ti at 100% fans to keep 2000mhz & temps under 80c

Okay, so these cards are serious beasts. I spent quite a lot getting two RTX 2080 Ti's, but the performance is phenomenal.

I can finally play new games at 7680x1440 with High+ settings! Well, I had done it before, but it required Medium settings, playing older games, etc. Now there is no compromise.

Here I played Far Cry 5, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Watch Dogs 2, and Project Cars 2. Overall I was getting in the 80 - 90 fps range with High settings. Project Cars 2 was an outlier, around 150 fps on Ultra settings.

For G-Sync this is just about perfect. 90 fps is the sweet spot to feel smooth and playable. I can still notice a difference with higher fps, but above 90 they're diminishing returns. So that's fine for me.

Does gsync take a huge hit on games or is it enabling vsync as well? Isn't 14,000 a normal score for the 2080 Ti? Seems like a 25% performance penalty? That seems pretty high.
I actually ran it again without gsync and got slightly lower score (likely because I had a few background apps at the time). Reason I ran it again was because userbenchmark.com score was very low, due to FPS in that app being 5x what the monitor is capable of. My score is expected to be lower than most for 2 reasons. My processors max speed is 3.1ghz after turbo boost (on 2 of 12 cores) and it's dual cpu where I don't bother to lock the affinity to the cpu with the pcie lanes. I'm still getting double the FPS in everything vs 1070 I had previously so I'm very happy.
