2080ti 2080 Ownership Club

Man these cards get pricier and arrive with longer and longer delays ever generation.

As soon as I plugged this in and installed the drivers everything looked better color wise on my Desktop than my MSI 1080ti sticking to EVGA for now on....I did a Benchmark of Superposition just for hecks sake with my 1080ti then with my 2080 RTX. Also ran Metro Last Light demo to see what the FPS increase would be I'm sure it's not muchbut I have raytracing when Metro Exodus comes out :p

That looks like a gain, at least, in Superposition. I would not have expected a big difference, but that is like 10% boost, not bad.

Haven't really benched but I have clocks stable at 2085MHz (+110/+700) using AB.

EVGA 2080Ti XC Ultra Gaming with EK Block

I'm very intertested to see how the downclocking goes on your card. Also if you could post temps at idle and load.

Almost like it’s by far the largest GPU (+50% die area) they have ever made.

More on topic I told Bestbuy to go fuck themselves (in my mind) and cancelled my 2080ti with them. They had no ETA and charged my card a week ago.

Snagged the Dual Asus 2080ti from Newegg that popped up briefly at 2PM. Should be here at the latest Monday. Excited to use the waterblock and power mod this thing.

I would LOVE it if someone could run a rasterized benchmark at lower clocks so you don’t hit powerlimit then a RTX demo and see if it draws much more. I haven’t seen this. I am doing it when I get my card if no one else does.

I know most dont like 3dmark. Thats fine, what is weird is how high my graphics score is compared to overs right now. Any idea?

Superpostion benchmark I am cpu limited at 1080 medium. Never saw both cards over 80% really. One would be 80% other like 50%. If i goto 4k I get 90% both.

Got Superposition to finish this time at 4K. I think it was some weirdness with SLI/Surround, as I got better GPU utilization (and performance) with 4K rather than 1080p.

Got the cards in my system. Nice boost in 3dmark.

However, I've gotten some crashing with 3dmark and Superposition too. I really hope it's a driver issue and one of my cards isn't messed up.

Its defiantly the drivers....they are very crashy
Never had a crash with the Titan X Pascal in my ITX rig, but had
several today with the 2080ti :-/

Here is rise of the tomb raider. Under dx11 sli, it was horrible frame rates compared to dx12. This was at 4k, max settings. I did notice slight pauses in it where frame rate would drop. So far only game I have seen that in.

It may be a PSU issue. Saw some people on Reddit talking about issue with Corsair power supplies, which I have and it looks like you do too. Not sure yet, but I'm trying to see if there is anything I can do.

That’s why I bought my EVGA 1600. 1600 watts on a single rail, yeaahhhh.

People never read the manuals and then shit like this happens.

Are you hitting thermal limits? 86C seems high?

SLI will generally always work better with a larger load (and lower FPS). You were probably CPU limited at 1080p.

Damn, I hope its not the PSU. I do have an antec 1200 "Circuit Breaker Tripper" PSU in the closet that would make sure the 2080ti is well fed.....but it won't fit in my gawd damn itx case. I was able to game the last hour or two without any issues, but will test more as time goes on.

Interesting. We have very similar systems, but you got a much better score. I wonder if this is due to rendering non-native resolution and or a Surround bug, are you on a 4k monitor?

Yes native 4k monitor. Weird as you are running 2 2080ti in sli and I am just running 2080's in sli. You should be higher then me. One difference I see, and I see it in any comparison with me using 2 2080 against 2 2080ti is the windows version. Seems latest is doing something and boost the performance. I have been matching up a good number of benchmarks and seems I am faster in all if they have a windows 10 version older then current.

Though it is kinda giving me a smile when I see systems with I9 and 2 2080ti's and I beat them. Any I found that use same versions as me, yeah I lose.

Yes, the thermals were crazy after looking at it. When I touched the top GPU it was PIPING HOT. OMG, I think I burned my finger.

Realized that you have to install the beta version of Afterburner to unlock fan settings, the default Nvidia fan profile is no good. I set a really aggressive fan curve (100% at 70C) and that seems to have resolved the thermal issue (I did tweak Corsair Link as well to enable single rail) and now things appear to be working. I ran Catzilla like 5 times (it was always crashing at one specific part) and it completed without problems. I'm ranked at #11 in Catzilla 4K. I might try some overclocking to see if I can get to top 10, but I'm just happy the machine is working at all right now.

I think the card was overheating, I'm not 100% sure if it was something with the PSU or not. Following the Reddit thread, I downloaded Corsair Link (I had to open the case and run a USB cable from the PSU) and I turned off OCP for all the cables in the PSU configuration. That alone seemed to help (for example Catzilla would get a little further, but still crash). So I downloaded the beta for MSI Afterburner and set an aggressive fan profile (50% at 30C up to 100% at 70C). You need the Afterburner beta, older versions can't control the fan on Turing. I noticed the fan is not nearly as loud as the Titan X (Pascal) was, even at 100% it's okay. The default fan profile is junk, though, so do set your own. Oh, and I also pushed in all the PSU power cables, there was one that was kind of loose, but I don't think that was it.

Sorry, just talking about all these problems. Forgot to post a pic of the bad boys in my system (ignore the poor cable management, no window on this machine).

Yea....I have been using the new precision x1 with the Scan OC. Crashing problems went away when I upped the fans. I can't get riva tuner to work with precision so will give the MSI AB beta a try.

These GPUs look pretty crazy in SLI, let us know how your experience with that goes!

Everything seems working well now. I played a bit of Dying Light, getting great performance triple 1440p high settings over 100fps. This was one game that was struggling a bit before and now is super smooth.

I guess I cant hang out in the ballers club. lol

And yet, here you are. Care to chime in with your opinion about pricing? It's not like you have been bitching about it all over this forum for the past month or anything. Lol

You need to update your rig specs.

I been using AB beta since I got my card last week and haven't ran into any issues.

I think the pricing meets what might be terrible yields. They are consistently out of stock everywhere concerning the 2080 ti. The regular 2080, not so much.

Is it worth it to go from the 1080 ti to a standard midrange cooler RTX 2080 when running 1440p?

Not unless RTX is amazeballs which we don’t know yet. You wouldn’t be able to tell the difference right now side by side.

Same here. I tried Precision and had some issues then went back to AB and had none.

Ditto. I’ve been using AB for years but thought I’d give Precision a try this time since the UI looks great. I couldn’t get the OSD to display for some reason. Went back to AB and all is well.
