The Ti is really the only GPU for someone wanting the fastest they can get. The rest of the lineup are a bit meh at the moment.

Nope, it's market manipulation. Two Best Buy locations, one 45 miles from me and one 80 miles from me had each one in stock last week (the RTX 2080 that is), and they sold, but very slowly. By limiting supply, NVIDIA is trying to create demand, or at least the illusion that there is demand for their product, while you can find a GTX 1080 Ti 11GB for $700 ~ $800 in any gutter, pisshole or back alley... Once again, Fuck You NVIDIA!

You're absolutely right. And by paying these ridiculous prices, these people will only encourage NVIDIA to keep going. But, when stuff doesn't sell, prices fall. I've seen VEGA Frontier Edition cards being sold at fire sale prices by the palet. When they didn't sell well for $1000, I guess $500 to $600 is good enough, maybe less than $500 when you get an entire pallet. It's a lesson NVIDIA needs to re-learn as well.

I think it's a supply and demand issue. From the delays on Ti pre-orders, we know they must be seriously supply constrained (I mean, really, how many people are lining up to buy a $1,200 GPU?).

So knowing they would sell out everything for at least a month or two, it makes business sense to price it at the highest point that will still sell out their stock. You can argue it's greed, and that may play a part, but it make sense.

Plus, they gave the MSRP as $999, so they have an out to drop the price whenever inventory catches up and/or demand wanes.

$1450, $1599, $1588, $1599, $1400, $1600, $1674, and a MSI Trio for a cool $2,099!

I suppose that depends on your definition of "cool". From what I've seen, most of them seem to run in the 70's C under gaming load. Most of my water-cooled video cards in the past few years run in the 30s-40s, which means they avoid throttling.

My definition would be what I gained from watching all the review videos of the 2080 Ti. Reviewers are saying the card runs very cool, the best they've seen with nVidia. But, there are people who are not happy until they are at bleeding edge of cooling and that's awesome if that's what your into.

I make well north of 100k and still drive a 20 year old crown vic. The more I make the more of a tightwad I've become. It's tough being "rich."

Chinese tourist spend 3x the normal average on shopping compared to most tourist when they go on a trip. The Chinese like to consume luxury goods at a higher rate than most people which has opened up a buying market that is beginning to rival the USA even though the vast majority of them are poor. Buying american goods and reselling them back home has become a job. Occassionally you will see a Chinese person buy huge quantities of stuff with the aim to resell it back in China. The point is most american's will bug out at the prices of these cards, but to the chinese, the high price is an attractive incentives since it evokes thoughts of exclusivity.

Yes, there are some interesting cultural differences. The Chinese also like buying really expensive bottles of wine just to show off their wealth. Funny thing is, lots of them don't even like it, so the common thing is to mix it with coke. Yes, mixing a several hundred/thousand dollar bottle of wine with coke just so you can drink it. Absurd.

I am sitting at a 980. With the performance being similar between the 2080 and the 1080 ti and the prices not really that much different (looking at Micro Center), I am inclined to go with the 2080. I am going to hold out regardless but I would never buy a 2080 ti at what they are asking.

Let people buy what they want. It's their money. If you don't want to pay that kind of money to get a 2080 type card, then get a 1080Ti or such for whatever you can afford.. No one is forcing anyone to buy one. Yes, the price is too high at the moment in my opinion, but CONSTANTLY complaining about it just makes people look dumb i think. Unless a huge portion of their customer base doesn't buy it, nothings really going to change too much. Plus, if 5-6 months down the road, it goes down in price to $900-1000 or possibly even lower, (Yeah, Right!) people will be praising the stars for it about what a great deal it is now. I have a Titan XP atm. Would i like a 2080Ti? Yes i would. But i'm perfectly willing to wait and see if anything better comes out. If not, then chances are i'll be able to pick up a 2080Ti hopefully when it's a little cheaper or at least not being gouged by the retailers like it is right now.

The last few years I've been willing to pay ~$740 per Ti (780Ti/980Ti/1080Ti) card for around ~$1480 for 2-way SLI, but the unabashed (and undisciplined) greed on display here by nvidia is just dishonorable and frankly; insulting. This unbridled greed is a huge turnoff to me; to the point where I'm going to run my 1080Tis rather than entertain any notion of paying the ludicrous prices marshalled by Nvidia. If anything, in a year or so I will look to the used market.

Well, I pulled the trigger on a 2080 Ti FE pre-order from Best Buy. I was trying pretty much all day yesterday and couldn't get the order in fast enough but I got lucky this morning and they had an FE in-stock when I checked. I really don't like the pricing but the performance is where I need it to be, and 1080 Ti prices have slowly crept back up to MSRP (and then some) over the past few weeks since that amazing $526 fire sale everyone jumped on. No sense paying $700 or more for a card I could've bought 18 months ago, which was just a cheaper version of the Titan X (Pascal) I bought a few months prior (and then sold for purchase price and replaced with a 1070).

Ordered up an EK block + backplate. I know water doesn't help with overclocking anymore but at least the card will run cool and the clocks will be consistent.

1080Tis are selling well under $700 on ebay including shipping, in the buy it now section some are $620 with shipping. In auction they have gone sub $600.

AMD has a good shot at beating the 1080 Ti in performance ... I'm going to say ... by not a huge margin. Will AMD have Ray-Tracing? Who knows. Doubtful. When AMD does launch their new cards, whenever that will be and the performance is that of a 1080 ti or slightly better, it will be forced to compete on price so I would expect those cards to be around $500. All guess work, but who really knows.

Take 15 to 20 mins out of your day, make sure your cell phone is charged. Prepare yourself to dig around your closet, garage, basement, shelves, etc ... make a mental note and or, grab pen and paper and do this. Dig in and pull out all the shit you don't use, want or need. Write everything down. Drag all of that stuff to your room and start listing it. Now, advice on how to list that stuff. Be honest about condition, number one. Two, don't be one of those unrealistic guys that asks for NEW prices on a 3 year old SSD, or, whatever it is. Make sure you have the best price on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace or you simply won't sell anything anything soon. Got an old case? Ask $29 for it. Old DDR3 memory, 16GB, ask $75 or less. Old 1TB hard-drive, $29. Trust me, I sell this crap all the time. Those are the prices that crap sells at. And sure, I can get slightly better prices on trade ins, finds, personal crap but I you want a new video card now and not weeks and weeks later, get it gone. I sold a few video cards, the main system, old memory, speakers, and maybe one or two odds and ends. New system didn't cost me anything.

They released the same amount of 11gb memory from the 1080ti. That's the point I'm making.. gonna sting a bit if they release a 14GB version 2080ti months from now.

I mean people buying this card to upgrade from a 1080ti must be doing it for 144hz 4k. And would need 2 for those frame rates.. more memory sure would help I would think.

I just blew around 6k in a vdrum set. I could buy 2 2080tis (I'd wait for the ftw3 model).. $1350 ea and 2 el blocks prob $170ish ea and a 144hz 4k monitor $1800 = $5300ish after tax.

I'd have to move out of the country to hide from my wife if I did! Haha

Selling the 2x evga 1080ti =$ 1000 after fees.. a 1080 classified =$320 after fees. Dell 34" 1440 wide screen = $500 guessing used.

$1820 - $5300 = $3400.. not worth the cost for ultimate 4k gaming.

Could just re hook up my 40" 4k 60hz screen but I wouldn't need to upgrade for that.
