The Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 beta has ended the PUBG streak of having 1 million concurrent players everyday on Steam. The PUBG streak lasted for a year until the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 beta launched yesterday that introduced its own version of Battle Royale. This was tracked by SteamDB.

Yes, PUBG's million player streak has ended after 366 days, as the most recent 24-hour period only reached a peak of 960,263. You should read "only" with some heavy sneer quotes, though, as that's still a number only one other Steam game in history has ever hit - Valve's own mega-popular Dota 2.

Pubg missed their opportunity, and now CoD came over to take a chunk of it. If they would of worked harder on making their game actually good, getting rid of bugs, creating lots more content. They just sat on the cash, and did stupid things, instead of taking advantage of their opportunity. They missed it...could of been the leader in gaming right now.

People I have talked to have all explained blackout out as "A non-shitty non-buggy actually optomized version of pubg" lol

Publisher is TenCent and everything they touch eventually turns into shit. They do not care about quality control. They have their own Eco system.... China... As long as they are making money at a certain level they do not care. They will leave Fortnite alone for now but after awhile that game will too suffer the same fate as other games TenCent fully acquires.

Why in hell do you think that League of Legends declined after they fully bought them out in early 2016? They simplified the game, quality control became non existent and people left. That is why you are seeing "Anime" style commercials on Yub Tub (you tube). It is targeted to a Asian crowd (yes they recycle their ads globally) and do not give one shit about westernized countries. They know that there will be those tards who will still play the game and put up with its faults while gaining millions of players in Asia.

When you have the CEO State "To copy is not evil" You know Your IP's are not safe. As of 2017 they have created a STEAM Clone in China.

NEVER...EVER... TRUST TENCENT.

As much as people love to comment on the fall of PUBG, most game companies would kill to go one year at over a million. Valve's games don't even do that. Sure they lost 2.4 million to banning cheaters and Fortnite, but it is surprising how well it has held on. Though we will see what happens after Battle Royal becomes a common game mode in AAA games.

People i hve talked to have all explained that blackout as a "shitty, buggy, less optimised version of Call of Duty".

so meh. ;)

How did they lose by banning cheaters? The cheaters paid for the game.

Haha, it seemed like cod to me. I'm probably going to skip it as I'm happy only buying it every 3-4 generations but that doesn't mean the game isn't fun, it's scratches that itch of super simple gaming comfort food.

PUBG is fun/I still like it. A contributing factor missed by the article, PUBG did a 5-hour update last night during US prime-time...so kinda makes sense. But, it's normal for a game to wane over time.
