Battlefield V

I enjoyed the beta. Some rubberbanding at times, but I had a lot of fun. I've always enjoyed the BF series. I just won't buy it at full price. I'll wait a few months and get it on sale.

Looks beautiful, though. I want an RTX and then check it out. :)

Goodbye battlefield, hello Call of Duty.

Wait what, is this some sort of joke. What if Black Ops Blackout mode is kickass.

I just watched a youtube vid of people that played the blackout mode at Triarch, looks pretty fun.

This would freak everybody out on this forum?

Two major issues for me:

1. Very hard to tell enemies from friendlies.

2. They should go back to BF1-style spotting. This is related to point #1.

Kind of liking the ammo and healing mechanics. At least theoretically encourages more teamwork. I like tossing around ammo packs. Revive is fine, although they need to add a quick "skip revive" rather than having to hold down the goddamn mouse button for 15 years.

Which amounted to 3%. Of one coalition.

This is not what is being portrayed correctly.

I also don't think in reality respawning was very realistic... other than Jesus, of course. :)

I really don't care if there are women in there. They get the headshots the same as anyone else. This isn't some hyper realistic WW2 simulation game. Those are out there, but this isn't it. I don't care. Just shoot the bitches.

Although, I did laugh when I got tea bagged by one. :D It's the second time ever that I've been tea bagged in a game!

Then don't call it a WW2 shooter. Call it a steampunk shooter or something. The weapons are not exactly accurate to the time period anyway, just like BF1.

Wait a minute, you got tea baged by a girl, holy crap that is funny as shit.

It's not claiming to be 100% historically accurate. They are taking creative liberties, which is almost a requirement in games like this. Otherwise, those medics wouldn't be able to patch you up and have you running and sprinting like nothing happened. It takes a "good enough" approach, not a perfect accurate representation.

I just won't take it that serious. It's a WW2 shooter game. Of course, I don't care when people call Flight Simulator a game instead of a simulator, either. It's just not that big of a deal to me. For you and others, it is. Which is fine. You want a certain type of game, and this one isn't it (or not as fully advertised). I just want to shoot mofo's in a WW2 setting with great graphics and flawed audio (airplanes were all over the place when flying overhead, spacial audio was fucked). I had a great time. I can live with the WW2 inaccuracies. I didn't expect it to be that accurate.

Does anyone else think it looks like or feels like you run too fast when you sprint?
no, is your fov turned up?

I'm interested in cod for the br and cause no one has made a good br game beside fortnite. but playing br is stressful and extremely competitive. thats why I'm going to buy bfv for sure and if blackout turns out to be good then cod too.

speaking of sound a tank shell went past me last night and the it sounded sick. it was the first time I heard the effect, I guess it only triggers the sound if its close enough.

cdkeys already has bfv for $48

I'm interested in the BF5 Battle Royale, the COD one looks fun from what I have seen on PS4 streamers. I think the beta for that is available Friday for PC, will be interesting to see. Whosever BR is better will probably decide which I buy

I'm not a huge battle royale fan though, I suck so bad that I need teammates to help me. But I might get CoD anyways for it.

Just Fired up the Beta for the first time, Can't assign reload to Scroll-wheel click.

Good bye, not wasting a single minute more, thankfully only wasted 5.

Beta is no excuse, clearly a clown brigade behind this, feel sorry for the real devs there....

Perhaps you're right that it's not meant to be realistic.

However, it most certainly breaks the immersion, in my view. I like at least some flavor of realism.

Would you enjoy it if they added jet fighters, helicopters, polar bear mounts, the 56th Tranny Regimen, Lightning bolt spells, or Donald Trump piloting the Shield Flying Headquarters over the map? Sure, certain aspects would be......interesting, but you certainly wouldn't feel caught up in the period.

SOME of us enjoy WW2 games, and SOME of us enjoy period accuracy. I'm unsure of a single living female who is butthurt that females didn't serve in the forces 70+ years ago. We should not be catering to a SJW demographic on this point.

But I digress, even without females in the game being portrayed accurately, there are still 1001 reasons for me -not- to buy this game. This is just kind of a cringe-factor.

BF5 Battle Royal is outsourced so no idea how that will turn out.

Lol... you can map reload to the mouse wheel click but good job on your hard headed convictions. I'm sure it gets you places.

Simply because it's funny and you clearly didn't look hard enough I'll point it out for you:

BFV won't see my money unless we get some classic BF1942 style naval battle maps & massive tank desert maps. I'm talking Wake Island, Iwo Jima & Guadalacana with playable aircraft carriers, destroyers, submarines...El Alamein the whole shebang.

Furthermore, removing the "Wacky Character Customizations" is not enough. DICE needs to put BFV on hold another year and cancel their BR mode as BLOPS4 just hit it out of the park.....and instead allocate those resources to bringing back the classic BF moments I described above.....

They don't need damage control....they need to GUT the trash completely.

Its seriously weird saying this, but BO4 Blackout looks fucking dope compared to Mafia II, ahem BFV....

I was drunk, lol. :wacky:

Thanks for pointing it out, I'll give it another go when I'm clear headed...

and the rest of the game is portraying WWII correctly? sorry bud but if you playing the game at all you'd realize outside of weapon names and country names the games 110% bullshit so women being in it changes nothing.

what immersion, you can't even tell the snipers are female unless they say something so again what effect does that have on immersion? but i agree the reasons for not buying this game have nothing to do with whether or not there are female characters portraying roles they didn't do during the war(all be it they had far more important roles in the war then people give them credit for), there's way to many things wrong with the game in it's current state to ever be considered a day 1 buy let alone pre-order it. if they don't do another open beta before actual release i'd keep as far away from this train wreck as possible.

also what i find hilarious is that people keep bringing up the whole SJW bullshit, when do you think it started?

With the current beta coming to an end there are rumors of another beta in October or November. Nothing has been confirmed yet but I wouldn't be surprised if they had another beta. It would be nice to try the game again with some of the changes they are talking about making. Right now its an absolute no buy for me but another beta could possibly change my mind depending on what they do.

This game might be a buy when it's cheaper? Im pretty dissapointed in it. They should've focused on the Pacific front/jungle warfare. I think that would've given it more of a WWII feel. Right now it feels like BF1 WWI all over again. Give me naval battles with kamikaze and island storming then I'm in.

Battlefield has been my favorite game up until a few years ago. I friggin LOVED BF3 and really liked BF4. Then they created a WW1 game where every asshole as a machine gun. That was stupid now; a WW2 game where we have female infantry and we can't say Nazi, really stupid.

Like everything else in life, liberals ruin it. In this case, swedish liberals.

I don't understand the obsession with hating on the women characters in this game.

For me none of the historical inaccuracy changes that the fact that this game is fun and looks absolutely tits.

It's not hate. like others have said. DICE themselves call this a WWII game. Call it a alternate reality game, whatever you want. But in WW2, no women served in uniform in a combat arms roles. NONE. Allied or Axis.

Words mean something, if you call it something it isn't it ruins it. I wonder if JJ Ahbrams is involved with this game, it would explain a lot.

Agreed. They were open about calling BF1 alternate history, which is a legitimate framework to create a universe around. They have done no such thing with BFV as far as I'm aware. If they have it has been drowned out by the elephant in the room.

Different strokes for different folks. When I loaded the game and noticed certain things I thought to myself “alright they’ve taken some liberties.” After that I just played the game and had fun. I’m not pointing the finger at people who can’t get over it, we all have certain things we want from games, historical accuracy just isn’t an absolute requirement for me.

I had fun with the beta. I like the faster TTK which made you slow down your gameplay a bit. I like the weapon recoil too. Game looks great, this is a buy for me.

ea made so many weird decisions from that announcement trailer and using trevor noah, then Patrick Söderlund's comment and now he "left" the company, aka probably fired. ea/dice seem a little lost. I don't think the people who were in charge when the earlier bf games came out are still there.

Just FYI, BF1 and BF4 premium is free today. May finally pick up BF1 for $5 with free premium.

And refunded. I forgot how bad the UI and trying to find servers in BF1 was. It also looks like other than Operations or Conquest there are no servers with players.

Wait what… red army.dude. had lots of women in combat roles.

Infantry? Mechanized infantry? Cavalry? I used the term combat arms specifically. I JUST learned thanks to your retort that the Soviets had "2,484 soviet female snipers" First I had heard of this. So that does change things. However that is a tiny %. But to my point they weren't running around with the grunts. They most likely performed overwatch, etc.

Pilots, truck drivers, nurses, etc don't count as combat arms. That was my original point.

I learned something today. I like that. Thank you for your good retort.

Female Asian Pilot Nazis look dumb as shit dude. Not quite as fucking stupid as black Nazis, but certainly up there in the "looks tarded" department.

As a "white man" who usually self identifies as a hot chick that barely wears any clothes when playing games such as GTAV which allow us to customize characters....I can tell you female characters in a WW2 combat game is stupid as shit.

But that is besides the point. In DICEs quest to be "inclusive" they are actually promoting violence against women AND saying black people can be Nazis too.....brav-the-fuck-o DICE!

But all that stupid shit is not the core reason why I am not buying the game.
I am not buying BFV because they abandoned everything that made the series great and fun.

It was a minuscule, insignificant percentage. There were nearly 9 million deaths of "combat arms" personnel the Soviets suffered during WW2. Total strength of their military was nearly 35 million by 1941. 2,484 out of 35 million is 0.007% (7 thousandth of one percent). You're more likely to die walking into an open elevator shaft than you were to run into a Soviet female sniper.

Gotta wonder about the implementation here.

If women are properly represented in the campaign, then cool. Flooding front-line infantry with women is not cool to me. But not a game ruiner.

And in multiplayer, I don't really care what they do with the characters. A blue mohawk is easier to sight in, right?

This brings me to one of my other issues with this game. With the lack of spotting, there is no good way to look at the map and tell where the main conflict is. I find I run around and never see anyone, or I might see one or two players.
This was the source of a large learning curve for me in BF2 days. But, I think it will make BF5 a deeper experience. It forces you to gain more of a "feel" for the environment and gameplay presented to you. Rather than simply following around orange dots like a kitten.
Once I "broke through" so to speak, with BF2, I remember feeling an internal dialogue of "ah ha" and then "OMG this is amazing".

If it's not deathmatch, really in BF one should be looking toward the objectives, not other players to take out. Those are typically very well marked.

[this may be the 'ah ha' moment you're talking about, just throwing it out there]

It just means I am checking the map constantly to see how to best get to the point under attack. Usually if I see a large group in BF4 I can make a strategic decision on where to approach to catch any runners or anyone trying to flank.
