No because you mount it over the backside of the motherboard like Noctua L9i and Cryorig C7. This is impossible for X99/X299.

Though bad experiences with water cooling (pump noise) and fear of tsunami I'll take this into consideration.
But obviously it's not available in Europe and the Retention Kit for 115x for my Asus Z270-i is sold out.Strange that they sell them separately.

Nearly every AIO with pump @ 100% is noisy. You have to ajust the speed to 60-70% ;)
115x retention is the defaul included retention of the Asetek 545LC.

Black Ridge: I don't know the exact release date. But I think it will be Q4 2018.

My Corsair H70 was very noisy even at very low speeds. ;) A grinding noise.
And what about leaks?
Asetek offers a poor 90 days warranty.

Besides: Asetek Webside says clearly no Retention Kit included. Whereas the UK shop does include it.

I have a rosewill PB120, which is the same as the Nzxt M22 and the idle performance is very good.

This is the first AIO I've owned and I was quite surprised how quiet it was at idle. I'm not sure if this is the norm for other coolers. Perhaps there is a very wide variance of your pump is good or not?
 
What I'd like to know is the long-term durability. The Corsair Forum for example was full of noise related complaints. My water cooler was very silent in the beginning. Obviously the pump was functionally working but became increasingly annoying. Are there unintrusive pumps which do there job for years?
 
In that case, it's defective. Closed-loop AIOs aren't serviceable by the user without voiding the warranty.
nope, not defective. most aios have a tiny bit of air. you have to make sure the rad is above the pump and tubes are at the bottom. as per corsairs + cooler masters instructions.
 
It's a pain to find a good heatsink that works with your board and the A4. This is my setup for the Ghost.

Oh snap! Gearing up for the ghost s1 as well, and I just changed out my g.skill rgb ram for corsair lpx ram and thought I could get away with not removing the heatsink on them because they are already that low, but it looks like I'll be running into trouble here.
 
I don't understand why in the DDR4 generation we don't have VLP memory. DDR4 consumes less power it should be totally doable to cram it on a smaller package. My crucial Ballistix Tactical Low Profile DDR3 is super low profile, and crucial even made Ballistix Sport LP that was even slimmer. I emailed them a while ago to see if they planned to offer similar LP products for DDR4 and they said no.

Seriously, look at the two crucial LP sticks on the right, they're almost lower than the clips on the slot.

Maybe the economics of the market lately are such that they just want (need?) to milk the xxxtreme heatsink crap for big bucks and call it a day.

These would be so perfect! You would even be able to fit a full 120x25mm fan with the Noctua. Instead I have to remove the heatspreader on a pair of corsair 4600 mhz ram and that's kind of risky.

There are ECC ones, if your system supports that you could use those (Ryzen supports unbuffered ECC for example, motherboard support varies though).

I doubt anyones going to make any consumer vlp ram anytime soon because
1. Acutally needing it is an extremely niche use case and
2. Most people will just get either whats cheapest, what has the coolest looking heatspreader, or has rgb.
 
VLP RAM - Nice to know:

Currently there are only ECC DDR4 VLP ram sticks on the retail market. There are two types of ECC available:

unbuffered ECC
Will work on any i3, i5, i7, Ryzen s.o. You don't need a Xeon and you don't need a server motherboard.
These modules do not have the buffering chip on the center of the module.


registered ECC
Will only work on Xeon cpus with server boards.
These modules do have the buffering chip on the center of the module.

Are those vlp? They seem a bit taller than the one posted earlier. ( Seems like yoru standard ram size excluding heatsink)

Hi everybody,


last weekend I upgraded the heasink of my 22 Cores E5-2696 V4 Xeon with the Asetek 545LC AIO.

It is a very balanced cpu as it has turbo boost on one core to 3.7ghz for gaming or photoshopping as well as 2.8ghz x 22 cores for rendering. The downside is that it gets very hot on all cores full load, so cooling it inside of the A4-SFX may be very tricky.

CPU Specs:

Inten Xeon Broadwell E5-2696 V4
TDP 155 W
22 Cores (44 Threads)
Cinebench ~3,200cb (it performs better than E5-2699 although some people say that it is the same chip)
Turbo boost one core 3.8ghz
Turbo boost all cores 2.8ghz
I paid for it 1,300€ on ebay from china






I‘ve been using it paired with the Dynatron T-318 + Thermalright TY-100 + 2 x 40X20mm evercool fans, but it has it's drawbacks:

- It is very silent most of the time as it only uses some cores and I had the 40X20 fans disabled till 70ºC, but while rendering on full load it gets extremly noisy because of the high rpms of the smaller fans (they sound like bees)-
- You have to open the side panel for rendering because it can reach 100ºC easily if not.
- It stays between 85-90ºC while rendering with three fans at 100% which are certainly high temps.
- I've tryed MANY fans till I got to this viable configuration (€€€), and all of them failed to keep it under 100ºC (forget any configuration with the Noctua NF-A9x14), If you want the best fan out there it is the TY-100.

So I've upgraded it with the Asetek 545LC liquid cooling solution, and I tested the following fan setups and case positions before deciding which one was going to be the definitive:

Straight: case vertical on its rubber feet.
Straight on 24mm Standoffs: standing on 4 x skate wheels
Upside down: the case with the bottom up clearing the air intake of the radiator.

nd here are the results (100ºC means that I stopped the test before getting hotter, for me it is a fail):

Observations:

- Best configuration is with the fan in push with the case upside down letting the hot air go naturally up and free. It has good temperatures and the internals and the table are safely cool, but you have to be turning the case everytime you want be serious with the cpu (dan, you should consider reversing the case design in A4-SFX v4, look how well it performs, there is no need for the C4-SFX in my opininon. Shaving some milimeters in the PSU cable space should improve air intake): something like this:

- You have to shave the TY-100 a little with a dremel to fit it, but the screw holes match.

- I expected a lot more of the noctua fan as it fits perfecly on the cooler, but as with the Dynatron, the Thermalright TY-100 performs much better (although the noctua is dead silent) so I stopped testing it. If you have the asetek and you want to push further with overclocking give the TY-100 a try.

- I've separated one by one the psu cables for better cable management, and I'll buy some pins to make them custom lengthed.

- On push configurations gpu temps remain under control, but they may impact in some degree on the overclockability.

- A little bit higher feet are recommended is you are using this cooling setup (I will look for some).

- Rubber feet paint the tables with black dots and lines. They are too soft, Dan should address it in upcoming case versions.



Conclusions:

- With the Astek 545LC it is possible to fit a 155W Cpu inside of the A4-SFX with the case closed and staying reasonably silent.

- The radiator position can and should be modified in A4-SFX V4 (if that happes XD) to be in the upper side.

- I have selected the TY-100 in pull configuration by the moment, but I have it in quarantine because internals get very hot, I may change it to push in any moment to use the case upside down as it is a perfect solution (thermally speaking).

- This is a big success for me, now i don't have to open the case for rendering, it is very silent in comparison to my previous configuration (3 fans to only 1) and it performs between -7ºC with the case straight and closed and -20ºC just by turning it upside down.

Then i was confused about all the different sizes, i thought those dimms that aren't taller than the socket were vlp. I'm glad we don't have to resort to those given those have even less options.
 
Dayumn even VLP DDR 3 is hard to find these days.. crucial has nothing in stock anymore. But i may found some used ddr3 sticks wish should fit :) I think its worth going VLP for the 120mm fan :) at least i will test it :D

They are a little bit higher then the RAM slots. Maybe i have to remove the heatsinks.

While i was looking for some 120mm fans, i remembered that i have an old GPU cooler from scythe in my trash pile which has these slim 120x12 mm fan. I think these are the slimmest 120mm fans on the market

If its really possible to mount them on the black ridge cooler, i will test them against the noctua NF-A12 (noise and perfomance). The Scythe fan gives an extra clearance of 3mm in comparison to the Noctua

I have the ballistix tactical low profile in all my pc's. Its great ram, OCs well, tight timings. I guess I have even less incentive to upgrade platforms now haha, there's no ddr4 that could replace this LP ddr3 that's got low latency and is good at overclocking. The sacrifices we make for sff haha
 
So the LP arrived today even with the heatsink , the LPs are shorter then my normal Ballistix without heatsink :D :) Now the cooler just has to get released :) I kinda like the ram in black without the heatsink, reminds me when ram didnt had heatsinks at all :D looks slick in the matt black

Memory for embedded and industrial systems is going to be slower with insanely high latencies. Like CAS22 or higher. It'd be a disaster for ryzen systems, and not too great on Intel either. Hopefully it could be overclocked to reduce latency.

Idk about these from innodisk in particular but in the past when I looked in to industrial vlp memory they had very high minimum order quantities too. So it tends to be expensive unless you order 100+ sticks.
