Valve Is "Very Aware" of Half-Life 3 Jokes, Hints at "More Things" Coming

During an interview with IGN regarding upcoming digital collectible card game Artifact, programmer Jeep Barnett noted that Valve hasn’t missed any of the memes devised by impatient fans clamoring for a third Half-Life game. While a new adventure with Gordon Freeman appears unlikely, team member Brandon Reinhart hints that a good portion of the company is ready to return to their roots.

“Now we're in a place where we're able to, as a company, invest and focus a lot more on games again,” Reinhart said. “The answer to ‘you're just sitting on your butts, sitting on a pile of money, swimming around the gold vault,’ is to not actually do that. To deliver a bunch of high-quality games that show we're actually working really hard.”

More things coming? No. I apologize for the language, but just fuck off, Valve. I've been done with you for the past 8 years. Begone.

If it's like any of the other Valve efforts, they're probably going to release new games by either buying other companies which already have games, or find people who already have a near complete game and hire them and use that as an "original" Valve property.

The common perception stands and remains true until we see otherwise. And a card game is what they are doing to "return to their roots"? I still can't take that seriously.

I doubt Valve even has any game devs anymore, probaby a pretty small (less than 20) dev team for steam and the rest is IT guys to keep everything running

You know.... Thinking about it I would rather Half life die with dignity than see the IP sold and subsequently BUTCHERED Star Wars style... I can see it now.. All SJW all the way for no reason, and it will be a terrible game that if you do not like it is because you are a woman hating incel.

Just rename Steam to HL3, this way it can actually be the greatest thing Valve ever did/made.

I'll believe them when they announce Hl3, besides that. NOPE

Yeah, more fucking hats, games with micro-transactions, and NOT HALF LIFE 3 YOU FUCKING TWATS!!!
Wait, maybe that's how we sell them on doing HL3 .. convince them that it's a gold mine for hats and micro-transactions!

If steam wasn't a PC platform they would have been sold out to the mobile microtransaction devil already.

In other words:

Fallout '76 won't be in our lineup, so we better start making games that people like again.

More Things Coming
Is that supposed to some sort of sick HL3 joke? nothing to see here

Surely their inhouse game development talent has atrophied after so long.

If not HL3 then who gives a shit. All of the jokes and memes are still correct.

Put up or Shut Up is how my BS meter is wired. Don't run your mouth until you have reasonable evidence to support your claim. Same issue I have with Elon Musk lately, despite being a fan of his accomplishments.

"The answer to ‘you're just sitting on your butts, sitting on a pile of money, swimming around the gold vault,"

I don't know why they won't just admit it. That was exactly what they did and there is nothing wrong with that. They hit the ultimate jackpot with the Steam client and decided that is what the company needs to concentrate on instead of slaving over making a game while making only a pittance and have the game pirated all over the place.

At this point, whatever HLx they release will never live up to the hype of this long wait. If they think they have a good story, just set a budget and release it. That is all they to do and they can go back to working on Steam.

Or just copy another game thats a big hit, it worked with DOTA2. Battle Royale games are all the rage at the moments and need more hat-ification. :D

To be honest though, Valve has done some great stuff and I'd like to see them try something new. I'd love to see them have a go at an MMO, assuming any of the Portal & HL creative talent is still at Valve.

What would REALLY be funny.

Half Life 3 "The Card Game"

Lol, oh man. The ultimate troll.

Better yet, include the full HL3, buried in the game as an unlockable secret. :p Too bad the download size would give it away.

You dropped that pack a long time ago Valve lol. If the company was to start developing serious games again that'd be pretty cool though.

People use to joke DNF won't ever come out but I have played it for 240 hours according to Steam. 90% of that is MP. That Morningwood map is really nice for a duel / 2v2

HL3 is dead to me.

I know it wont happen so I gave up.

I liked the hl2 build out.

I think if they made a 3 it would need to be a completely diffrent persons story.

A strong feeling of "they'll just fuck it up" fills my head when someone mentions a possible release.

Duke nukem-esk level of fucked up

At this point I don't even know who they're trolling anymore, themselves?

Just give us another Portal, nobody'll care if you fuck that up.

All the PR about games is bullshit. They make so much money through steam, there's almost no reason to develop anything ever again at this point. The profit margins just aren't remotely close to what they already have as a constant stream.

All I hear is bullshit and some other random fart noises when I read Valve employee quotes about game development in house.

Im sure they will make HL3, I mean most of us who played HL1 will be in our late fifties or early sixties when they release it, but they will make it.

At this point, there's no way in hell I would release a Half Life 3 lol.. After all the years of jokes, the game would have to be the best thing ever made or it will be utterly destroyed by the community. No way you could ever live up to the hype.

Pretty sure you're in the top 0.1% of players there. You should contact Gearbox, they might give you some sort of award / PR deal.

What if HL3 is already completed, but Gabe calling it quits is the condition that needs to be met for its release?

Valve always appear to be doing nothing, however it appears that they just keep their cards close to their chest and work....Slowly, as in 'Glacial'. :)
