So with Case-Labs going the way of the Dodo (RIP), are there any other case makers out there that produce cases that are (relatively) overbuilt? I took too long on pulling the trigger on getting a case from CL, and will rue my indecision going forward.

I know inwin has some nice stuff not sure if it's your taste, but if money was not an issue I would most likely buy something like the H or S-Frame.

I'm a fan of the ones Sliger produces. Very high production quality with lots of customizability. They focus on more compact ATX and mATX designs which may not suit the size of your build though.

Our Define XL can apparently take a shotgun blast if that qualifies as overbuilt. The newer Define R6 a bit less hefty but I'd say it's definitely worth checking out if you're looking for something solid and versatile. I may be a little biased, of course.

I am curious myself about this sort of thing., given that CL has rapidly become my "go to" case manufacturer for a number of reasons; it isn't easy to find a stand-in to cover most/all of them. I'll have to again start looking elsewhere seriously.

I've heard good things about the - https://mod-one.com/xforma-pc-cases-and-accessories/ - if you can afford it. It certainly takes a different aesthetic focus compared to CaseLabs more clean and utilitarian setup, but it has a lot of modular custom designed parts and is built from the beginning for a certain use. You're paying for both function and style, but you're paying a LOT so expectations will be high. Many accessories are available , with the "Luminous Plates" being particularly notable - in fact, CaseLabs worked with XForma/ModOne and had a version o them created for the SMA8-A.

I'm intrigued by that SingularityCase noted above; haven't seen that one before. - its actually a rather novel design assuming it works and the liquid cooling hardware embedded into it is a) at or better quality than most top grade custom components b) can clean/replace the WC components and upgrade/expand hardware style/setup in general with ease. I may have to look into that one for a future project.

I'm currently getting more information on Hydra and its Hydra Desk - https://www.hydra-shop.com/product/hydra-desk/ - Which seems to be one of the most recent boutique desk-case designs by this Italian firm. I"d have to see if there are any competitors aside from the more mass produced Lian Li DK-05 . I do wish they Hydra was mechanical height adjustable, but otherwise it seems pretty solid withing the boutique tier and the even smaller desk-case market. I am curious if it is fabricated by one of the common 3rd party fabs in Asia for this sort of thing or if it is crafted in the EU the way CaseLabs was made in the US.
