NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

They are recommending 650 watt PSU, could be a problem with all the 600 watt units being used now. Although they will probably work no problem.
 
the 1080ti FE was 279w at load according to guru3d with a 600~650 psu recomended, so maybe a slight bump
 
Maybe I should replace my bottom Gentle Typhoons with Noctua A12x15s... I wonder if the extra space will help with airflow.

You might be able to de-shroud & de-fan the stock RTX & use a pair of NF-A12x25 Noctuas down below...!

Right, but I'm also getting the window panel, and I want to keep the original shroud. I don't mind a bit of extra noise, I have a massive air purifier in my room which drowns out any PC fan noise. I'm just concerned with airflow, I still can't figure out if it's better to have 120x25 fans that almost touch the GPU or 120x15 fans that give some room for the air to move up to and around the GPU. I'd love to see that tested with the A12x25 vs A12x15 in the M1.

Also, the FE cards have somewhat unusual fan placement with a large space between the two fans, I wonder if they align with the M1's fans.

Wait til you get the card and test without anything extra installed.. You may find you might not need the fans. I'm still on the fence about having fans below the GPU..

I'm sure 15mm fans will help bring fresh air in and move hot air up and out of the case, but 25mm fans exhausting right into the GPU's own fans, I'm not sure that makes a difference. You get more airflow, but it's turbulent and a lot probably hits the shroud and loses pressure. Again, would love to see a test...
 
I recently decided to try out the Accelero 3 on my EVGA GTX 1080 SC. I'm just wondering if there's anything I need to watch out for?
And most importantly: does the EVGA backplate still fit or do I have to look at the blank pcb with the Accelero 3?

Maybe someone can help me out :)
 
RE: power supply size

My old Silverstone 450W SFX Gold PSU powered a 4770k and Vega 56 so I'm sure you will be fine with the Corsair 600W.

That said, Silverstone has a 650W SFX PSU and I'm very happy with mine.
 
If i hadnt alrdy ordered custom cables for the corsair i'd give the Silverstone a shot




just to play devil's advocate, do these other 650+ watts power supplies fit in the case with a ODD?

im seeing the SX800, PE-750, SX650, and SX700 over at PCpartpicker

PSU is on the inside of the inner chassis/frame...

ODD is on the outside of the inner chassis/frame...
 
So as the new RTX 20x0 series from NVIDIA was revealed I was of cause excited, but then it struck me.... What if the Artic Accelero cooler does not fit the new sensor size or the mounting has change a lot.. So I started digging around.. Not that I had any hopes of finding any dimensions of the new cooler mount or any official statement about that. But then I found some PCB shots and the thinking machine started working (some call it the brain - I wouldn't know as I don't have one :wacky:). So I found images of what i knew the Accelero III would fit (if i remember correctly) - a reference 1080 ti. And I found a picture of the mounting plate of the cooler. So with a bit of warping in photoshop and alligning the PCI-E dimensionen up. This is what i came up with:

So this is not perfect down to the millimeter, but it is somewhat an indication. It seems that the RTX 2080 uses the same GPU cooler mounting holes as old 7900 and 9800 GTX cards (and a whole heap of others. from what i can derrive, it is compatible with the number 2 holes on the Accelero mount bracket found here: https://support.arctic.ac/index.php?p=ax3&lang=en )

But the GPU itself is moved more away from the PCI brackets (on the case) and more toward what would be the front of the M1. So that leaves the question. Will it all fit in a M1.. I don't know.. I don't even know if it will mount a RTX 2080.. But it does indicate it.

So what I did to line it up, was that I made the cooler mount fit the card that I knew it would fit (1080 ti)(I had to warp a picture from Artic that was skewed - so not perfect) then i copied that exact size layer to the 2080. So there is no size difference between the cooler mounts seen. They are exactly a copy of each other.. and the cards are aligned by the size of the PCI-E connector and locking mechanism. Of cause there will be small millimeter differences to real world, but it is only a mock up to get an idea of if it will fit or not. To match the cooler, i took the cooler mount and lined it up with a picture of the whole cooler.

The 1. model is the 1080 ti ref with the cooler mount put on.
The 2. model shows the 2080 founders match with the same cooler mount (notice the GPU is moved compared to the 1080 ti ref PCB layout)
The 3. model shows the 2080 founders with the Artic Accelero III "mounted" ontop.
The 4. model shos the same 1080 ti ref with the Artic Accelero III "mounted" ontop. Notice the difference to the 2080.

(English is not my first language, so sorry if it is explained poorly).

I made a quick calculation based on my picture i made..

A GTX 1080 Ti reference is 26,67cm long. Those 26,67cm are 920 pixels on that image. that is 0,02898913043478260869565217391304 cm's pr. pixel.
The GTX 1080 Ti reference with an AAiii cooler is 1026 pixels long equal to 29,74cm long.
The RTX 2080 Founders is 1054 pixels long equal to 30,55cm long.

I don't know if those meassures are correct in a real world scenario.. But ya.. It would require about a 1cm more room on a RTX 2080 based on my calculation. (I don't have any hardware in my Ncase yet so can't meassure for myself).
 
The heatpipes will clear easily. The only issue that you might run into is in orange in the pictures below.

Oh yes. It should fit except for the part you showed. It might be ok but someone would need to confirm.
With the new tdp of the 2080 to, accelero3 is even more needed, just like the platinum grade of the new sf600( especially if you want a 9900k with your 2080ti)

Do u have custom cables on your sx650?

Somebody is selling a lian li 750w for $80 but no clue what cable types that uses so thinking i can do the sx700 or sx800

hey i was looking into measurements and the 2080 ti XC is the exact measurements as the 1080ti SC2 expect the 2080ti is 4mm shorter (height wise).

shouldnt be a problem with an accellero assuming the 1080ti fits good

By long GPUs, they mean anything longer than ITX length, as anything past that will be underneath the PSU...

The longer length of the SFX-L PSU leaves much less room for the power cables sticking out the bottom, and these may interfere/make contact with the backplate/PCB of the GPU...

guy im talking to about cables is telling me it to stick with the smaller PSUs, that a SFX-L probably wont fit very well with sleeved cables.

damn. guess i'll have to wait to see if the sf600 will be enough
 
The platinum sf600 will be enough if you don t OC.
The actual gold sf600 is already enough.
If you OC both cpu and gpu then it might not be.
But ncase is not the best case to max OC everything...

im fine with the factory OC + GPU boost, im aiming for 3440x1440 100 fps
im def not going for anything crazy like 5.0ghz on the cpu or past 2000 on the gpu, just trying to get my parts right so i dont run into any problems.



i had just sold my old gpu and bought the 1080 ti from EVGA last month ($800 usd) but since the 2080 ti is out within 90 days they said i could just pay the difference and step up.

I also didn't want to do crazy OC like I wrote in my build log and you will be able to do the same easily. Just enable XMP so your memory runs at the speed it was mean to and you can set all core to 4.7 without worry and without touching any other setting and you're done.

600W should be well enough even with the 2080 Ti. I have a Watt meter on my outlet for months and the max recorded is as of today is 380W with my CPU at 4.8 and 1080 Ti.

Well.. It depends.. Because of cause the new coolers they design will be almost the same size.. But the difference is that, if you want to mount a aftermarket cooler that was made for an older design is that, if they change the GPU position, it skews the whole aftermarket cooler.. Thats why I made those calculations and images in photoshop, to be more clear on that matter :)

But if you aint changing the cooler, it does not matter, and it will probably fit, as long as it is not too wide (from mobo to case side) (I guess that is what you and manufactores call height, eventhough GFXs arent standing that way in a case).

Yeah, because the motherboard is considered horizontal respect to the graphics card (pretend you are standing on the motherboard, in other words, and the gpu will be so high off the surface of the motherboard).
 
Regarding EVGA's new 20-series 2.75 slot cards -- I'm wondering, if you remove the shroud, could you fit regular 120x25mm fans underneath, like with the Accelero?

No way of knowing unless someone gets measurements from EVGA or tries it themselves.

any reason you prefer the 2.75 slot card? theres a 2 slot 2080/2080ti

Because if you remove the shroud & fans, but keep the massive vapor chamber & add a pair of NF-A12x25 PWM fans below; you might just have a DIY Accelero...
 
I was under the empression the 2 slot fits the acceelero, which is why i asked but looks like its not compatible

Yeah makes sense, personally just sticking the 2 slot in.

Temps wont be horrible, i do more cpu intensive stuff than gaming
 
Actually, I wrote Arctic an email asking if the Accelero will fit on 2080 and 2080 Ti cards and they said yes, however, the VRAM heatsinks won't fit because they are closer to the die in this generation. However, if you keep the the EVGA midplate (which it seems like you'll be able to this time as those pesky 4 tabs protruding into the cooler area have been removed), that should be sufficient to cool the VRAM and VRM.
