OEM cooler block mounting with janky setup?

I'm itching to water cool my Precision T3500. It's getting a W3680/90 and I'm going to at least try to bump the multiplier with software. But either way the factory air cooler is barely adequate and nothing else air cool will fit where it needs to be.

I'm considering one of the off brand blocks like this one https://www.ebay.com/i/352414710762?chn=ps.
I know that a Cooler Master Hyper 212 will fit onto the mobo, using the included screws, threading into the Dell threaded back plate.. But couldn't I use 6/32 studs, and thread them into the board, and then use washers and springs with small nuts to clamp down the plate?

The rest of the loop will use a mix of Alphacool bay reservoir with DDC pump and probably 3 120mm radiators. One in the front where I can sneak one in, one in a hole in the side ( quick connected ) and one in the rear with a 80-120mm adapter. Possibly just use a 240mm in the side and the 120mm in the rear if I get rid of the hard drive door.... Expand ability would be warranted as if I get away from the 1060 6gb, I could get a FE card and then cool the graphics card as well

Will 360mm not in a single radiator cool something like this? I could put another 80mm in the very top of the case but it looks like the only decent radiator ( alphacool 80mm ) still available is expensive and hard to get. I wouldn't have enough room for 120mm between the PSU and drive bay cage. 80mm would work though

Cannot make any recommendations. Have you tried affixing a fan to the factory cooler yet? That, lapping the sink, premium TIM, and the 32nm CPU you have coming will bring your temps down significantly.

WC set up would be cool (pun intended). But will likely be a futile effort where performance is concerned. Inability to increase voltage will be your brick wall not heat.
 
The other T3500 with the W3565 has a fan zip tied to the cooler, and it still gets hot, but cool enough. Slightly hotter than this X5670. But that computer is just leftovers stuffed in a Dell case/ mobo and even though it has a nice pair of 270x graphics cards, it more or less is what it is. Games well but it's a heater.

I have Artic silver 5 on my main box ( sig rig ). The other has MX4 and when I put the new CPU in, it will be MX4 since that is what I have
 
W3565 is a 45nm chip and run about 20-25-c hotter than 32nm at similar load. You'll see once the W3680 arrives.

Most of the T3500 that have passed through my hands had W3565 straight from Dell. Under load, a couple boxes would spike right to 100-c and thermal throttle. Eight year old dried up TIM etc.
 
Yes, that's just the second leftovers box though. It had a W3503 and the $8 W3565 fit the bill with the 1066 ram that it came with

The PC I'm upgrading has an X5670, it hits 80c pretty quick stressed, and gets up to 90c. My thinking with the W3680/90 is that it will push to thermal throttle if I bump the multiplier at all... 4 GHZ, should be about right to make it good for a 1070 TI or something in case I go 1440P/ gsync
Unless a good 80mm fan zip tied to the cooler really does a lot for it.
 
After further thinking. I'm going to go with this EVGA CLC 120 AIO and a 80-120mm adapter for the rear case.. Just kind of fits the bill. I have 120mm fans, but the 80mm's that I have are a dusty mess and about 9 years old since they are still in the remains of what was once a server

Decided to clean up the 9 year old " power up " 80mm fans after pulling them from the old beige case. powered them with a test power supply and somehow they are silent 9 years later. So I ran a base line on Intel XTU which was 80c/ 2.97 ghz max.. tore it apart. cleaned up everything else, re applied MX4 to the cpu.. zip tied the fan to the rear of the cooler so that it's pulling and It's holding 57c and 3.00 ghz average in the same 20 min stress test.. I think I've got the headroom for the marginal amount that bumping multipliers will bring
 
Grabbed a W3680 on the 15% off day for $59.50.. Stable at 4.00 GHZ oc at 70c Multipliers are set 31, 31 30x4 via Intel Extreme Tuning and stress tested with the same. I had a stable oc that went to 4.14 ( 32, 32, 31x4 ), but blue screened when I pushed it farther, so I clicked it back a notch. 4.0 ghz is 1ghz over what I had with the X5670, and a 500 mhz OC on the W3680

That is good news. Glad the OC worked out for you. 70c at that speed sounds about right. Really wish we had a more friendly BIOS for these.

My W3680 should be here middle of next week. Will let you know how it goes in the T5500 board.
