Capcom Japan is selling a replica of the Lexington-style keyboard featured in the upcoming Resident Evil 2 remake. While it does feature Bluetooth and novelties such as a return bar that functions as an Enter key and knobs for volume adjustment and page scrolling, the price is steep at 75,000 yen ($676). A redditor has managed to find what appears to be an exact replica on Amazon for hundreds less.

The priciest bundle includes a Leon S. Kennedy statue and "ink ribbons" for a whopping $900, but even just the keyboard on its own starts at $676. There's a comparable typewriter-style keyboard (minus the Umbrella and Lexington branding) for $249 on Amazon. I'm sure someone will be able to take that basic model, match the Resident Evil-specific detailing, and come up with a convincing replica.

The one on Amazon is identical to the Capcom one.

Or you can pick up the awesome Chinese LED version for $30

Game publishers should really be in the porn business, they're always figuring out new ways to fuck people. Some poor gullible bastards are bound to buy that being none the wiser.

Or they will be the wiser and just want to buy a collectible. I have no issues with what people want to do with their own money.

Regardless of it being a collectible or not, that price for a keyboard that's probably mass produced in China for a fraction of that price is ludicrous.

dude, a Hornus Wagner baseball card is probably printed on a piece of paper that is worth less than a fraction of a cent, but no one would interesting in buying it would say "I'm not paying more than a cent for it". I don't get this "It's so much higher than the cost of manufacturing" thing people say about things like this, iphones, etc. Cause 1) There is extra cost outside manufacturing, and 2)The people buying it are the ones who ultimately decide if they want a Luxury item, not a necessity.

We live in a time where many people have the disposable income to purchase ludicrous things.

yea just call it "collectible" ... that makes it worth buying @ $600+ :ROFLMAO:
but I agree with what trentchau said (aka it's their money to do with as they see fit).

The $249 one on Amazon actually looks like a nice idea for a tablet, as it advertises. If it's good quality, the price isn't toooooooo bad. Neat!

But yeah $676 is a fucking god-aweful rip-off. Fuck you Capcom.

Yep. I saw a headline about some rich guy who has a $2 million pair of sneakers in his closet.
And people pay millions of dollars for a piece of canvas with paint splattered on it.
