Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is now available for testing via Battle.net in an open beta that will last until Monday (8/11). An NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 / GTX 1060 6GB or AMD Radeon R9 390 / AMD RX 580 card is recommended.

This Multiplayer Beta showcases six modes—Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, Kill Confirmed, Search & Destroy, and Control. You will battle over six distinct maps—the four already seen at various events, plus two new ones, Gridlock and Hacienda—across playlists that showcase all the content that the Specialists revel in.

When will the day come when a 970 will no longer be able to game at 1080p comfortably? I feel like the longevity of that card, considering its price, is one of, if not THE all time great.

Yeah but CoD is also about as old school as you can get...canned lighting, confining levels, no open world element to worry about, nothing dynamic....they should run easily on old hardware. Well, this game I know nothing about, so I'm assuming its...similar. From its advertising, it feels like it's turned Call of Duty into Unreal Tournament......I miss the military element of these games. They're now just sporting events, I guess, made to played in tournaments.

Here comes all the [H] users shitting on CoD like they do every time it's mentioned.

Game is ok, better on gamepad imo. Gonna wait till the BR mode beta to see if I wanna pay for it.

I'm super excited for this, edge-lords be damned. The zombies mode looks great! WW2 zombies is good, but you can't beat Treyarch zombies, and they've even brought back Elina Siegman for the easter egg songs. Shame it doesn't look like that's in the beta.

Maybe I am just lucky but I login to my battle.net account and do not see it anywhere. How exactly does one install this crap?

I had this same issue on my main pc but my laptop worked fine, my Battle.net client was also not displaying news anymore. I ended up fixing it, I had to uninstall Battle.net and remove the folder in %appdata% and reinstall. Sucks but atleast my client is working again and I can see new stuff for other games to

Wanted to play this badly on the PC. Mine is crashing to desktop after 2-3 minutes of gameplay ( if that ) also. Really annoying.

Will pick it up on the Xbox One X for sure.

I'm enjoying it. Yes, it does crash, but it's a beta. Months away from release. The game play is smooth, hit reg is about 90% of where it needs to be. My only complaint is the maps are really small and very "corridory". Seems like every new COD they make the maps smaller and reduce the total player count. COD2 was 12v12 with much larger maps.

I'm going to wait until the Blackout beta hits to make my decisions on whether I want to buy the game. That's what I'm really interested in.

I remember when the COD games were good PC games. But now that they crank them out every year, it's all the same.

It sadden me that they took out the campaign mode. THey said to make a better multiplayer experience, yet I hear a lot of complains already. They also said they want to win the PC community again, yet it's still the same old COD crap. I miss the first modern warfare story line. That was good game.

Cyberpunk 2077. Maybe Metro: Exodus.

I've heard such mixed things on BO4. Some like the new "classes" for characters other don't. Some people like the all the new game mechanics they keep taking from the most popular FPS games on the market. 5v5 (CSGO) Razor wire drops (RS: Seige) Team comp style (Overwatch).

I keep hearing about time to kill takes to long. That killing people with 3 bullets is taking to much time. Other people are saying it makes it nicer and you don't just run and gun or pray and spray to high KD ratio anymore. Seems like it might be an alright game.

All that being said there are some stuff I refused to buy it for:
  • No single player campaign (dropped this like a bad habit for yet another unoriginal shitty battle royal)
  • Separating the community with its bullshit season pass and map fuckery as usual
  • Can't just buy a single map pack with the ones you want.
  • You have to buy the season pass to get "all" the maps
  • To buy the season pass you have to buy the super duper magical deluxe edition at the minimum of $100 for a fucking multiplayer, online only, rip off of every core mechanic for successful fps games, piece of shit same game they release every fucking year.

Does a hell of a lot with 3.5gb of vram.

I was impressed with the beta. How they managed to squeeze so much shite into a 26 gig download really is mind boggling. 1 game and it got whipped off and I had to apologise to my SSD for violating it with that piece of shit.

Game was fine, it was COD. I'm not expecting cod to reinvent the wheel here, also why I only buy it every 3-5 years. Game gets a lot more hate than it deserves, it may be the same basic game rehashed but that's not bad, there's tons of other games out there's that give you the fps feel you want if cod doesn't. For me cod and battlefield have been good casual shooters to relax on, and destiny when I want a tight grindy shooter.

Game ran great, pulled 90-120fps @ 1080p max out depending on the map. Played 5 matches and had no crashes or issues.
