Acer Predator Z35P - $699 + tax and shipping Costco

I have a 34" version (X34) that I bought over 2 years ago refurbished for $700. It was worth every penny, still using it now. Although I will say mine is an IPS panel and this is a VA so I'm not sure how much difference in color reproduction it is. But for the price, I'd buy it if I didn't have a GSYNC already.

Ooh nice! If I wasn't waiting to upgrade to a 4k gaming for my desktop, I'd consider this for sure.

Yes. I was considering a 4k but I game in 1440p and really want the gsync so it's been the one I've had my eye on for a couple of weeks. I cannot wait. Also, just bought a Jarvis standing desk so extra ready!

Also, it's overclockable to 120hz which sweetens the deal for me.

Have this monitor. Got it from Ebay in like new condition for like $700 like 4 months ago. I think there was a 10% off coupon on it too but can’t remember. Love it. I thought I would regret going from ips but I don’t even a single bit. Absolutely love this monitor. 120hz is a plus. Even doe excel and other productivity work it’s a great buy.

Yeah. Thanks for confirming my decision.

Honestly considering this monitor. I have a XB271HU (27" gsync IPS 144hz) any thoughts on weather or not it is worth the switch?

I have this monitor, like new great condition and its tested. When you buy these big ass monitors I always worried about dead pixels. I ordered one from newegg, it wasnt z35p but it was acer freesync. That thing had green dots when I booted it up.

I am moving soon considering selling it. Got the original box. If any brave soul wants to save another 125 including taxes let me know. I might be parting with it soon. I bought it off ebay in new condition about 4 months ago. Got this and 1080ti and tried hard to find time to game few times lol, but haven't been able to.

Just listed em here if any one is interested. Cheers.

So is this actually a real VA panel (like the older VA panels)? Or is it just an IPS/PLS/whathaveyou clone version of VA? I ask because I still have a working old school VA panel, and it has some of the most amazing contrast ratios I've ever seen. Still not sure if it's worth upgrading from an RoG Swift to, though, even at this price.

I recently sold the monitor and I am sure its in a great new home. New buyer was happy with it. I was mighty impressed with the clarity of the panel to be honest. I have had other va panels that I haven't been impressed with. But my monitor was sure a great looking va panel.

It’s not the original P-MVA and S-PVA where the VA stood for Vertical Alignment and panels had issues with inverted ghosting, crushed colors, overdrive and input lag.

A few years ago with these high refresh panels they differentiated from regular IPS with a new name called HVA, which was Hyper Viewing Angle, which was basically IPS viewing angles with close to TN response and input lag.

I decided to give it a go. I'm not sure how much worse it will be than the RoG Swift in the blur department, nor how much I'll actually like the extra room, but there's really nothing to lose from trying it out when Costco is involved. 90 day any reason return policy and all that.

Does Gsync get finnicky when you have a Gsync monitor set up as a secondary side monitor? I'd have two Gsync monitors hooked up at this rate.

I upgraded from a ROG Swift to the Predator and it's an upgrade across the board and worth it, imo. I don't know what happens if you hook up a 2nd Gsync monitor but the Predator is freaking huge and will probably take up your entire desk unless you have a massive old school banker's desk!

I managed to fit it and two 1440p 27" monitors on my screen, along with having my Vanatoo T1's in between the monitors. Just kind of had to curve the setup around so it was a large semicircle type of deal.

My monitor came in with one dead pixel in the lower left hand corner. I was using JSFix and randomly googled around. Decided to try tapping the area with my nail a few times. Pixel came back on and is staying on throughout power ons and power offs. Other than that, I didn't see any other dead or stuck pixels, so I think the panel is now perfect (as far as I can tell throughout a few other semi-meticulous scans on solid white/black/red/blue/green backgrounds). Couldn't see any blacklight bleed at all, either, though I'm not sure how that works with these curved panels. I do like having more room for all my tabs when browsing, and that it has a low blue light mode (saves on the eye strain). Playing Far Cry Primal on it was totally fine even with just my single 980Ti.

I wouldn't say it's a "wow" experience, but it's definitely not bad. I'm not sure if I would have kept it if I got a worse QC'd panel. The 21:9 is alright in the games where it does work (lol Overwatch doesn't even support it, not that I play overwatch much), and the picture quality is good. Definitely get more immersion, though it's kind of more marginal than I expected (perhaps I would notice a larger difference if I went back to the Swift). Motion clarity isn't as good as the RoG Swift of course, but tolerable. I'm not sure whether the curve actually does much of anything. If anything, it's kind of weird. I think I'll probably keep it since overall my impression is neutral-to-positive. I don't dislike it, and there are some areas where it's better, and nothing is really worse (any game that doesn't support the resolution doesn't really lose anything from having the sides cut off and being centered *shrug*).

Does this have ULMB? Can't find the option in the OSD, and I've been playing more Wolfenstein ET lately. The Swift does better for that, I think.
