Forza Motorsport 7 thread

Are you sure about that? If you have an exclamation point on your time that means it is invalidated, but you should still be on the leaderboard. It's hard to get a clean lap time in single player races because drafting whether you're the lead or following car is one of the things that invalidates lap times.

Yes, I am sure that you are a certified genius. :) As for the leaderboards I have the exclamation triangle in my lap times (and so do the drivetars) but I am never in the leaderboards. I have tried with dozens of cars on several tracks and with Friction on and off. No difference, unfortunately. There has to be something I'm missing...

I just ran Homestead in Rain with Friction Off against two Drivetars at 100%. Won the race and my time SHOULD be showing as 64th but I'm nowhere to be seen. What is the missing mystery setting?

If your laptime is invalidated (exclamation point in triangle) doesn't that disqualify it from going into the leaderboards because they only show clean laps?

I read your reply and reran exactly the same race with identical settings. This time I was meticulous in not touching any line, even though the rules apparently allow you to be two wheels in I was four wheels in every moment of the race. Ran a 37.327, placed first, should have been #35 and instead am not placing anywhere again. I can't understand why I'm still getting the exclamation triangle and so are my two Drivatars. I'm very confused.

record it and post it up here.

I just recorded and saved an even slightly faster and 100% clean race. I've read about half a dozen links on how to get it to be visible outside the game and all seem to require Upload Studio on an Xbox which I don't have. What is the best way to get this race posted?

I may be wrong because I don't really follow Forza as close as I used to, but I think they may have disallowed any laps from actual races because of people cheesing with drafting and stuff off of other cars.

just upload it to youtube

Excuse me for being dense, but everything I've read either requires an Xbox or an earlier version of Forza to upload to YouTube or download or do just about anything else. This is all I get on my screen and there seems to be no options. Is there a tutorial that actually applies to Forza 7 on PC?

As you will be able to see IF I ever work out a way to upload this race, I am doing everything strictly according to rules. Also, why are the Drivatars being exclamation triangle too? It's all very strange.

Maybe it's some kind of firewall issue then? If you have the Windows firewall disabled (to run a 3rd party one or something) Forza games are not able to connect to any of the online features. Aside from downloading things like leaderboards.

Change the sorting on the leaderboard to "near me." Your time will be in the bottom part of the leaderboard since your time was invalidated, indicated by the exclamation point.

I'll see if I can watch it tonight.

Completely forgot about this quirk.

Win+ALT+R starts recording in Win10. To stop press the same keystroke. Once you stop it will give you a notification in which if you click it brings the recording up within the xbox app. Go to show in folder. Drag and drop into youtube to start uploading.

Have to add that the Game Bar needs to be enabled for this to work.

After trying several ways I finally got a race on YouTube

The way I did it was to launch the GeForce app at the beginning of the race and hit record. Worked like a charm.

As you can see at the end, the Near Me section of the leaderboards is blank. However, the Windows Firewall is fully enabled with no other Firewalls running or even on this system. Friction on or off makes no difference, and I've tried just about everything I can think of with no success. I just ran a race where I should have placed third overall on the leaderboards and I'm nowhere to be found.

So thanks to all who have contributed but I'm stumped...

The triangle means you are cutting the track lines somewhere or hitting a wall. There was just a new update today that allows you to turn a visual reference system for the track borders so you can see exactly what the game considers the edge of the track.

I just checked Homestead with the track lines on and they are lined up with the white painted lines and if you check my video above I'm way inside those lines every second. Also, the exclamation triangle is there right at the very start of every race before I do anything at all. The Drivatars have the same triangles. There has to be something VERY wrong here and I don't have a clue what it is.

Yes, there has to be something wrong with the very setup of the game, what it is beats me!

If you use Mod cards that give you an advantage, none of your laps will be clean.

Also, cockpit view or GTFO.

No mod cards, and I don't like cockpit view so kindly consider GTFing yourself. :p

I'll let Driver view slide since they added it for Forza 7, but cockpit view was one of the features that allowed the Forza series to pass up Gran Turismo series when it was added in Forza Motorsport 3.

I think I know what it is Weeth. Turn off Friction Assist. Friction Assist turned on will never give you clean laps.

Thank you for your courtesy in allowing me the view. I live to serve you and your fellow overlords. :)

Unfortunately scores of races with Friction Assist on and off. No difference. This is truly befuddling....

show us a screenshot of all your difficulty settings, and what all we need to do to try and replicate this and ill try it tonight.

Anyone else feel the drift mode they added is less then stellar. It made it about 5-7% easier to drift in the game i feel. Maybe i just suck at drifting or the car needs to have the setup gone through to drift? I didnt buy the drift cars which ive heard are alot easier. Is it just me or is it gimmicky?

I haven't tried the drift mode yet but it's on my list to try!

OK, here we go.

I pointed out the Data Out being OFF but I don't know if that would make the game not able to communicate stats to the Forza servers.

Screenshot (10).png

Drivatar difficulty makes no difference tried everything between 0% and 100% and it's always the same.

No Mods

One more thing: whether cars are homologated or not makes no difference either.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to help figure this out, I really appreciate the effort!

Take Steering and put it over to Assisted. You should have this on simulation anyway unless you are using a keyboard.
Put TCS and Stability Control to On

Then your times will be leaderboard capable.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!

You got it! That did the trick. I was just able to run my very first race without an exclamation triangle. My lap times sucked but I can work on that.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! YOU ROCK!!!

Yeah, it's the Super Easy settings. With Super Easy selected for steering you don't even need to apply steering input, you can just hold down the throttle and it'll do the steering for you which is why they don't allow you to use it for clean laps.

Yes, it is considerably harder to steer now but more realistic. Thanks!

I never saw the "Super Easy" settings before. When were these added? But that would make sense since I assume they offer the same, if not better, type of assist Friction Assist does.

They were added at the release of 7. I just remember people complaining about not getting credits or xp when using it for endurance races because it forces the car to follow the suggested line.

The new experimental drag racing mode in today's update has completely revitalized the game for me. Finally some serious attention is being paid to drag racing again.

New update today removes loot boxes, replacing them with a "Race Shop" where you can buy individual items with game credits. There is also a big overhaul to the collision system to try and make it more realistic. No more ping pong cars, supposedly. Finally, there is a Hot Wheels themed car pack.

New Collision Model
While nearly everyone tries to avoid them, collisions are a part of racing. With the November update, we have implemented some important physics updates that significantly change collisions in the game. These changes can be found across three different areas of the game:

1) We’ve improved energy dissipation between bodies, as well as the way tire friction is calculated during a collision. This is a global change, which results in “softer” collisions, where collisions absorb energy and the collision impulse happens over a longer period of time.

2) In multiplayer events, collisions are now resolved locally and blended when the game receives an update from other player(s) in the same multiplayer match. Effectively this means that multiplayer collisions now work like single-player collisions, even in high-latency scenarios.

3) A new Collision Assist setting scales the amount of body rotation a car can impart on another car in a crash. Players can choose to turn the Collision Assist on or off and players will have the option to create lobbies that use this assist (or ones that do not). This collision assist is meant to curb griefing; and a car hit by a car with this assist engaged will also receive the assist.

The sum of these changes means that contact and collisions feel much different in Forza 7 with this update. Car contact when side by side will result in fewer spins; tandem drifters will find that their cars will be more tolerant of tiny taps than before, and griefers dive-bombing into Turn 1 will have less of an effect on the rest of the field than before. In all, the new collision model is meant to bring car-to-car contact more in line with the real world, and also make the experience for players of all skill levels that much better.

Race Shop
Prize crates are gone and the Race Shop is here! The new Race Shop feature gives players the option to purchase Mod cards, Driver Gear, and Badges whenever they like. The Race Shop is found in a new tile on the main menu page of Forza Motorsport 7. The item lineup in the Race Shop is a mixture of Mod cards, Driver Gear, and badges, and the inventory for the Race Shop refreshes every six minutes. In the Race Shop, players can purchase items using in-game credits. These items will vary in cost based on the type of item and its rarity. Driver Gear and badges appearing in the Race Shop that a player already owns will be shown darkened out and won’t be available for purchase, but players will be able to purchase Mod cards that they might already have in their collection.

One important note for new Forza 7 players: As we announced in Friday’s edition of the Week in Review, we’ve replaced the prize crates that were part of our Forza Rewards programs for new Forza 7 players with Mod cards. New players will now receive Race Mod cards, depending on their Forza Rewards Tier level.

Guess it's time to take a break from Horizon 4 and put a bit more time into 7.

After jumping back in and playing some more over the weekend, I have to say the update to the collision physics is probably the most meaningful update to the game ever made. The collisions are very realistic now and you can race a lot closer because of it. I'm going to go back and finish the single player leagues now that I don't have anything left to do in Horizon 4.
